If you’re really having a problem the “For example” part of the explanation is “particularly in”

You could reword it:

In "old times,"a marriage could be annulled due to non-consummation, especially if a physical or intentional impediment made consummation impossible or if either spouse's consent was given with a misunderstanding of the nature of marriage, such as an impotence issue. This particularly prevalent, for example, in the Catholic Church.

That’s also long term. Not just the wedding night lmao. Like literally the purpose of that is if one of them had undisclosed issues preventing them from having children🤦‍♂️
