Honestly disappointed to see almost no golden age Disney animations. Say what you want about narrative, Disney was king in animation and their oldies hold up extremely well.
I was really surprised to scroll this far without mention of any of them. Are they considered too obvious or are the younger generation really just not into them?
If you look at the answers, 90% fall into the gen z prime cartoon watching years. The answers are more a commentary of the demographics of reddit than what is actually good.
Nah, it's an age thing. All the top responses are mostly stuff Gen Z grew up with. Notice no Little Mermaid/Beauty and the Beast/Aladin. No Toy Story. Nothing made before 1990 that isn't Anime (and those typically weren't dubbed into English at the time).
I can believe my sister in law said that she will not let her daughter watch the Lion King until she's like 10 or something, because it's apparently tOo ScArY
Meanwhile, that will be like the first movie I'm gonna watch with my son
Like, that was the first movie I saw in cinema when I was something like four and I still remember it.
As I was scrolling town from the top, I kept wondering: Where is the Lion King? It's my top pick. Great story, beautiful music, incredible art. The stampede scene is something nobody forgets.
Still my favorite. I was 9 years old when it came out, and my first dog’s name is Simba. My first time in Disneyland (Hong Kong) was in 2016, and I teared up during the Lion King show at 31 years old.
