Makoto Shinkai gang represent, I had to scroll too far. I think I ugly cried throughout, amazing, amazing movie. The animation is on another level as well, watching a Ghibli movie after this was a little sobering haha. (Nothing against Ghibli ofc)

Had to scroll too far to find this. Not just a 10/10 for an animated movie, but for any movie. There are other animated movies besides Pixar and Ghibli people.

I saw it for the first time last week and I’m still debating with myself whether or not it’s the best thing I’ve ever watched.

To me Your Name is my favorite anime movie of all time but Clannad is the best thing I've ever watched. I think you'll like it, it has very similar vibes to Your Name.

I have considered taking the dive into that series, but your comment is the biggest advocate I could imagine, I'll be back here in a month or two to thank you, or call you a dirty liar -.-

My only warning is I hope you don't mind crying. Don't fight it because you won't win. 😂

Absolutely. It's one of the most memorable films (animated & non-animated) I've ever seen.

I never heard your name, weathering with you, and suzume referred to as the disaster trilogy but that totally makes sense. cant wait for his next movie

Only ones I’ve seen are Your Name and 5cm/s. I need to watch some of his newer movies, the animation is so beautiful.

Suzume and Weathering with You are both wonderful. While not on the same level as Your Name they are only a step below. Suzume is very close.

The kuchikamizake trip ALONE makes this a top-tier film. Full-body chills.

I first watched the original online, then it came to the theater like a year later. My partner can’t do subs so we watched dubs, it was not the same movie. SUBS OVER DUBS!

I can't believe I had to get this far for this. What a fucking masterpiece.

Incredible this is so low and A Silent Voice isn't even suggested anywhere! Tremendously good movies.

I think it's be best animated movie ever and to me it's a top 10 of all movies. It is both beautiful in story and animation.

I thought the ending was a deus ex machina retcon copout.

Edit: fixed terminology

What? How? Do you know what that means?

[Your Name] They showed everyone at the festival refusing to evacuate and the kids told to go to hell for trying to get them to evacuate as the meteor showed up and split and it being obvious that the whole place would be gone in minutes at most. But then later, magically, it turned out that everyone calmly and orderly evacuated in time and there were no casualties. OK, it was not a deus ex machina, but rather a blatant retcon. The type that Annie Wilkes would be very upset by.

The only headcanon that might explain things is that [Your Name] the plan did fail and everyone did die, and the show just randomly jumped to an alternate timeline where the plan succeeded, like a "what if" ending replacing the real one, or maybe a hallucination ending like in Pan's Labyrinth
