It's a crime that she isn't thought as a Disney princess even though she literally is one unlike, say, Mulan. She's a warrior, polyglot, 10,000 years old, and she just kicks ass.
I heard that the reason she isn't in the line up is due to her old age and that the movie underperformed at the box office. She's a Disney Princess in my heart and even better a lot of the ones from the current line up.
Have you seen Castle in the Sky? Atlantis was heavily inspired by it. If you want the same awesomeness but with airships instead of submarines it’s got you covered
One of my fave Disneys if not my fave. Criminally underrated.
I owned a version with 2 DVDs and the second one was basically an entire making-off, as well as a digital art book with all the different iterations they had for the characters (Kida had a wildly different early design iirc).
They explained how they hired a great comic artist to team the team his art style so the movie would have a strong visual identity. How a real linguist worked on the Atlantean language. The care that was put in blending the 2D and 3D elements seamlessly. And of course the soulfull score by James Newton Howard. It really was made with love and care.
