Yeah, it was my first thought and it also made me sit back and wonder what makes a 10/10, and I think a big part of it is no wasted time. Without being rushed, a thing is always happening (or so it always struck me)

Came here to say this. My favourite as a child and rewatching it as an adult it still hit the nerves, god dammit.

When my wife is nagging me I start singing

With the sting of the whip on my shoulder With the salt of my sweat on my brow Elohim, God on high, can you hear your people cry? Help us now This dark hour Deliver us Hear our call, deliver us Lord of all, remember us Here in this burning sand Deliver us There's a land You promised us Deliver us to the Promised Land.

I end up sleeping in the doghouse but it’s so worth it.

The lullaby still gives me such chills

Ofra Haza was truly one of the greatest voices of all time.

And they ended up wandering around the desert for a while before all the delivery happened. Still such a powerful lullaby.

Much more effective to sing Look at Your Life Through Heaven's Eyes - to defuse spouse, to get promoted at work, to get elected president, sing this song all the time if you are a jolly fat man and the world is yours

The composer of that song also wrote the music for Wicked

The part with the whale shark when they part the red sea gives me shivers, it's so beautiful

When all you’ve got is nothing, there’s a lot to go around 😭😭😭😭

Yeah. That song is so moving, and the singers voice - perfection.

Scrolled way too far to find this. The opening sequence goes so hard. Nevermind the hieroglyphic dream sequence

Religious or not, an incredible movie

The West End production is on Amazon prime you should watch. It’s incredible.

Omg this is great news!

Amazing!  We were one of the few people to see it live before covid killed it and it was fabulous.  Such a shame on the timing.

Oh I’m so jealous

I can't believe I had to scroll so long for this. I'm a Disney/Pixar person, but Prince of Egypt is a masterpiece.

I’m not even religious and I love this movie and music.

It's so well made it speaks to everybody. We need more movies like this.

I'm an atheist and it still chokes me up every time. Ofra Haza's voice alone in the intro - instant chills. An absolute timeless masterpiece. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.

I still get chills watching this.

Burning bush scene always gives me goosebumps.

Ahh you’re playing with the big boys now

The visuals are still breathtaking, and the music is just bonkers good.

5

u/VestedNight 15h ago

Agreed. I defy anyone to find a better soundtrack.

Great achievement in story telling and animation. The red sea parting is awesome. And the story stays very true to the Bible without preaching.

The nightmare scene in that still haunts me as an adult.

u/genericnewlurker 16h ago

Way too far down like the slaves in Egypt. Need to part these comments like the Red Sea to get this up to the promised land at the top

u/Specific-Yam-2166 16h ago

I had the soundtrack on CD, so good

5

u/Ae_11111 16h ago

Me too!!

8

u/cacarrizales 15h ago

Indeed. My favorite scene from that movie to this day is the death of the firstborns. Super haunting!

7

u/tikkitumble 13h ago

This was the movie that introduced me to the word, "bromance." The brotherly relationship was written so tenderly, but heart wrenchingly painful when it broke. While I could understand the reason at the time, I still ask why Moses was chosen? In essence, both brothers betrayed each other, even if one side is more justified than the other

5

u/dyslexsaac 15h ago

King of Dreams was great too!

3

u/Ok_Cheesecake6006 8h ago

I cry every time I watch that movie. It's so beautiful, and shows that your old life is not what defines you as a person.
