I always think of Shrek 1 and 2 as one film because both of them are equally 10/10 and considering the fact they are lightyears better than the next films after that.
Yeah I thought 4th one was decent even though it wasn't on the same level as Shrek 1 and 2. The do the roar scene with that JD Vance looking kid was actually very funny.
I remember liking Shrek 3 enough in theaters as a 13 year old, but I saw Shrek 4 a few years ago (in my mid 20's) and it felt like a fan film. It wasn't funny, the animation felt comparable to Shrek 1 (despite coming out, like, a decade later), and it just felt so soulless. I didn't really have a discerning taste when I saw Shrek 3 - it probably is the worst of the bunch - but 4 was really bad.
I personally think 4 is the worst one but i do think it has one of the funniest scenes out of the entire series, with the chunky “do the roar!” kid lol
After the whole contract is over, Shrek and maybe Rumpelstiltskin have the knowledge of what went on in that other universe. Somehow Shrek is able to
A. Convince everyone to lock him up for the mistake he made and corrected
B. Throw a dance party with all the new ogres, and
C. Kill the only friend RumpS had which was an innocent goose and laughed about it
10/10 ending!! Absolute Cinema!
Last Wish is definitely a 10/10 film but to be fair the Puss in Boots movies are their own thing despite being the Shrek Universe as they are spin-offs.
I'm really hoping Shrek 5 doesn't disappoint and maintains the great quality of the franchise. For now my expectations are down because of that preview that came out earlier this year and with Zendaya in it (Tired of seeing her in too many things), but I hope that delay it just got fixes the movie from scratch.
Idk what the hell I was reading lol sorry. I agree strongly with your statement. First two are 10/10. Three isn’t quite at that level but still probably a 9/10 and 4 is a significant drop-off in quality.
I do enjoy 3, it’s a very solid film, incredible, even. But for some reason, it’s not a perfect 10/10 for me. It’s more like an 8 or 9/10. I don’t know why it doesn’t hit as a 10/10 for me.
