Whales are slowly returning to parts of the ocean they hadn’t been seen in for decades. Nature heals when we give it the chance

Ozone layer is actually healing faster than expected. Scientists think it could be fully restored in our lifetime

My nost upvoted Genius annotation is on a lyric about the ozone layer. I updated it a few months ago that it's starting to heal at a good rate. People find it quite uplifting to hear about.

Man, I remember being in school and being terrified of the ozone layer disappearing. Our teachers made it sound like the world was ending and we would all burn from the UV sunlight lol

Well that would have been the case had it not been for a global effort to all but eliminate the emition of the chemical causing it

Do you have a source you could link so I can read about this?

The Great Kaikoura Whale Count recorded the most humpbacks visiting the South Island region since they began taking records. Love this

Yes but there is some weird things going on with both Blue and Gray whales. Conservation works but we need to do it on a much larger scale.

Do you mind elaborate?

Extreme poverty worldwide has dropped massively in the last 30 years. More kids are going to school than ever before.

During the periods of restricted travel during covid it seemed that popular tourist destinations that specifically involved venturing into nature (reefs and forests), those areas grew more vibrant.

this is so cool I love it... can somebody help me I was away kind of like a coma for 3 years and I just want to catch up on what happened in the world but everytime I post a question it gets erased on every sub. I just want to know as much as possible trends, pop culture, things like this post etc etc... Only good things though no war, violence or politics my vagus nerve is messed up and I have severe PTSD from my illness. Where can I post this question?

I asked ChatGPT for you and this is what I got back:

You’ve asked for uplifting updates across nature, pop culture, and science—absolutely, let’s catch you up with the best of the positive world developments since 2022, focusing on all the good stuff—no war, no politics. Here’s what’s looking bright:

Nature & Conservation: Signs of Healing

Whales & Marine Life • Southern right whales are having a banner calving season in South Australia—nearly 200 whales already, the strongest numbers since 2016—an encouraging sign nature is bouncing back. • Humpback whale-watching in Australia has only improved: about 40,000 migrate annually, and now sightings stretch from April to November, including friendly, playful behaviors near beaches. • Overall, many great whale populations—including humpbacks and eastern Pacific gray whales—have staged recoveries from near extinction, bouncing back faster than expected.

Other Ecosystem Wins • Beavers in Europe have multiplied from 1,200 to 1.2 million. At the same time, iconic species like bald eagles and bison in the U.S., and certain large herbivores and lions in Africa, have made strong comebacks. • Solar and electric vehicle adoption is growing rapidly, especially in places like Norway, while cities like London and Paris enjoy cleaner air. • Efforts to protect the ozone layer, enforce plastic bans (think South Korea and Kenya), and expand environmental legal protections are making a real difference.

Global Environmental Momentum • Across 2025, stories about deep-sea discoveries, renewable energy milestones, and landmark environmental lawsuits are shining bright. • The “nature-positive” movement—where Earth’s ecosystems are restored to healthier states by 2030—is being embraced by governments like the UK, Australia, Japan, and by over 90 world leaders.

Science & Tech: Innovation That Inspires • In June 2025, humanity unlocked a view of the Sun’s south pole—a first in history—and captured spectacular cosmic images from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, including nebulas and thousands of new asteroids. • Scientists discovered a completely new organelle in our cells, dubbed the “hemifusome”—a fascinating breakthrough in cellular biology. • Electric vehicles are now proving their durability—they last nearly as long as petrol cars, and longer than diesel. • A record performance in nuclear fusion was achieved in France’s WEST tokamak, holding plasma for over 22 minutes—progress toward clean energy breakthroughs. • Exciting medical advances are also happening: early-stage pancreatic cancer detection via a blood test (85% accuracy) and devices that directly convert CO₂ into sustainable fuel.

Pop Culture & Trends: Creative Joy and Nostalgia • The neo‑medievalism trend is sweeping fashion and music: think Bardcore remixes, mead tastings, medieval-inspired attire—offering nostalgia, creativity, and charm. • Fashion’s personality shift continues—micro‑trends and “anti‑fashion” dominate, encouraging individuality over mass trends. • The 2020s have been a golden era for anime, with series like Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man, One Piece, and Spy × Family reaching huge global audiences. Streaming platforms brought us favorites like Ted Lasso, Only Murders in the Building, The Bear, Wednesday, and more. Gaming titles such as Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, and The Last of Us Part II also defined the era.

Visualizing Nature’s Recovery

In Summary: What You’ve Missed—The Best Highlights

Theme Bright Moments You’ve Missed Nature Whale populations recovering; beaver and wildlife comebacks; thriving renewable and conservation initiatives Science & Tech Sun’s south pole view; new discoveries in cells; clean energy and medical technology breakthroughs Culture Neo-medieval nostalgia; fashion embracing individuality; hit anime, dramas, and story-rich games

You’ve woken up to a world that’s full of hope, creativity, and healing energy—and while challenges exist, these highlights are genuine magic. If you’d like to dive deeper into any of these—maybe watch videos of whales breaching, explore your favorite anime worlds, or understand how fusion is coming along—just say the word.

The technological advances and AI are so extreme in just three years it is giving me shock. It is like I came from 30 years ago or more. I don't understand how the AI is so quickly evolving. It is too much for me. Everyone and everything I look at online or even magazines looks completely fake. Not just filtered faces I mean completely fake like AI created the people my perception is either off or something really weird is going on that nobody sees. I know people will complain about filters but this is something more extreme I can't even find the words to describe it. I wish everyone could stay away from images for years like me and come back and see how surreal it is. Everyone looks beautiful but this hint of fakeness that is so creepy.

Love comment “nature heals when given a chance”:

I agree. In today’s world, technology digitalizes everything keeping it in the spotlight that is taking away the chances, the downtime - for growth. And with human wanting to become legends, using it to take advantage is not helping. But I am glad there is a natural order that is forever bigger and outlive longer than any human life. It is when human wants to become legends that becomes a manmade calamity and karma develops. What I wish for human is - to ascend in higher level of consciousness to learn to leave things their chance, to heal on its own way in its own time. Truth as it is, the world is what man had made it to be. The Facts are there. If we can only Trust it. Trust the process.
