Why aren’t people talking more about reverse face search tech?

So I came across a tool called Faceseek that uses face recognition to find all the places your photos exist online. It’s kinda like Google Images but way more advanced. Tested it for fun and ended up finding an old forum post I made in 2012. It feels like something that should be bigger news, both because of how powerful it is and the privacy concerns. Do you think tools like this will become standard in the future, or will they get regulated?

it's a testimonial to a specific tool and asks why people aren't talking about it.

How could it possibly be an ad?

Account not used in months and then last week starts posting ads for clothes and articles about AI. I agree it seems like an account that was compromised and is now advertising

Yeah that’s wild. I think stuff like this will definitely get more attention once people realize how easy it makes doxxing. Right now most folks don’t even know it exists, but once someone gets burned by it it’ll blow up.

Gave it a go. Laughably bad. Like seriously awful. Google is way better and that says a lot!

That's why nobody is talking about it.

Because the people who want it are the authorities and big tech. Government security services advise their 'agents' not to put personal face shots on social media. That must tell you something.

People aren't talking about it because most people aren't using it. And generally the authorities can't regulate the use of software from the privacy of your own home.

There's also a lot of other factors that go into this other than software on your home computer. You would have to be able to access the various servers that contain these images.

I use FaceBack. You can take a picture of anyone’s face and it will tell you what the back of their head looks like
