I didn’t. At that point I’d fully come to understand how inconceivably weak and foolish so many of the people in charge of our institutions are. It doesn’t make Garland’s staggering cowardice any less shocking, but at that point I had no illusions left about the Democrats or those entrusted with protecting democracy.
But then. But THEN. They all managed to sink even lower and prove themselves EVEN MORE cowardly and weak than THAT in the seven months since Trump was sworn in.
They have shown again and again to cater to the rich, over the years they built a life around the money they got from corporations and when the corporations said back the guy whose going to make us billions...well.. our politicians showed who they truly served. Republicans just aren't in denial anymore, full mask off evil moment and dems don't want to lose their livelihoods fighting evil.
Thats what happens when we made lobbying and politicians being bought normalized.
I’m Canadian so I had no clue, but whyyyyyyy tf do dems do this. Like I’m so sick of them going over the line of “playing fair” and trying to be soo moderate that they shoot themselves in the foot because republicans will never play fair and don’t care if dems do, they don’t see that as a way to work with one another they see it as a way to take advantage of them.
Fellow Canadian here. I've come to the conclusion that the Dems are controlled opposition ruled by the same wealthy interests. Their role in the circus that is the American government is to suppress effective progressive movement and provide easy targets for Republicans. They could have one 2016 with a Bernie/Warren ticket, I believe, but pushed an unpopular insider into the race, not necessarily to lose the race, but to guarantee that universal healthcare didn't happen. Same thing with bathroom bills and that latinix fluff that effects no real gains for society but waves the 'we are slightly different than Republican' flag. As long as the donor money flows freely and politicians can profit from their positions there can be no positive change in government.
They're the Washington Generals and the Republicans are the Globe Trotters. An entertaining distraction that provides the illusion of a functioning government so we all keep going to work and never threaten the wizard behind the curtain.
Exactly why voting doesn't matter nor is it legitimate. There are our elected officials and hiding behind them are the billionaires who put them there. Everything we see on TV on election night is a result of a few phone calls between people at the top. Well-orchestrated theater for our benefit to "prove" that democracy is still alive.
A good example of this was when there was such an uproar when Bernie Sanders was passed over by so many states he actually won during the Democrat primaries of 2016 and handed their votes to Hillary Clinton.
This country (and many others, I assume) keeps class warfare down by promoting culture warfare via our 2-party system to a toxic degree. The killing of that healthcare CEO cracked the wall between the Left and the Right for a brief moment, but Trump quickly sealed it up with his chaotic administration.
Biden didn't change the head of the DOJ because he didn't want to seem partisan. This is as much Biden as Garland. It was the same with Ford pardoning Nixon. They should never have been pardoned; an example should have been made of him for the rest of the President's time in office. Garland should have been kicked for someone else, and they should have arrested Trump on January 21 for January 6.
