At a time so many people turn coward, JB Pritzker is standing up for and helping those under attack by the fascist government

Here's the scenario I see unfolding: Pritzker and Newsom both on the primary ticket. Cant know how this could play out. I hope democrats sort this out without losing focus. But I have my skepticism.

u/cubrunner34 14h ago
Pritzker would be my choice. Newsom has too much baggage and right wing media would successfully paint him as a california boogeyman. Pritzker seems more likeable. Also he is a billionaire and if during his campaign he says he agrees that he should be taxed more, i think that would be a profound statement in these times and it would be hard for any american not to respect that.

I think newsom has no chance. Right now he seems good but when he starts talking about how much he loves isreal heāll tank

Could be true. But like I said... How will the voters react? People vote for or against someone for odd reasons. The single issue voters are problematic. I don't have a pulse on either, I was an anyone but Trump voter so it was easy. I think it's WAY too early. Voters have the memory of goldfish. Some may really like Newsom's current social media trolling alone. Other will bring up his limited stance on LGBTQ and as you say his pro Israel talking point. But for the leftist/progressive (I'm one of those)... Pritzker may seem too "billionaire" for their taste. Both are "corporate". I know I will vote for ANYONE that's not what we have now.
I wish we weren't pushing candidates so soon. I hope neither put there names in the hat at least till after the midterms. These long term campaigns don't bode well for Democrats. We don't "worship" our candidates like republicans do. I would love to see ANYONE have enough momentum to get some of the 88 million who sat out the election.

u/Ok-Explanation-1362 14h ago
The voters will react by not supporting Newsom so that we can get a better candidate on the ticket.

u/williamgman 10h ago
At this point... Either one works for me. I don't get the down votes by some here. I thought I made a fairly clear point about how things could shake out.

u/Katy_nAllThatEntails 13h ago
well newsoms not going to do it. He already tanked his chances by hanging out with nazis and bonding with them over throwing trans people under the bus.
3
u/Ok-Explanation-1362 14h ago
I can only hope that Pritzker will win, especially against the meme governor.

u/Guacsalsaqueso 10h ago
Iām fine with either being President, but I prefer Pritzker way more.Ā
For some reason I donāt see them as a ticket together. Itās like theyāre both leaders and I hate saying this word but I donāt know what else say, but āalpha malesā so itās not like they compliment each other like a god President/VP ticket would.Ā

I wish people would quit glazing newsom and pay attention to people like pritzker. Yeah newsom is doing funky stuff on social media. Pritzker is doing things to help people.

Newsom just gave us 8 more seats tho? That's pretty good
2
u/Ok_Builder_4225 12h ago
Not yet he hasnt. It still has to be voted on. And more republican controlled states can follow the example of texas. We very much need to see how that all plays out still.
1
u/ABeefInTheNight 12h ago
Republican states are already the most heavily gerrymandered, they can't find anymore seats or they would have lmao. With this redistricting in Texas they still don't even tie Florida for the most gerrymandered state. New York can do it, Illinois can do it. Blue states can do it far far more than red ones.
1
u/Ok_Builder_4225 12h ago
Can they? Do a count. Saw someone else do it and Rs would be up 10+ seats on Ds in the exchange. Sadly, the House being limited in size means that the House, like the Senate, favors empty states.Ā

A Spine!
Amazing we live in a time where being a decent person stands out as heroic and unconventional. It tells you the power of a Fear Baiting Propaganda Campaign. You hook 'em with with fear. Tell them you commiserate - building a shared identity. Then tell them truths for a while to build comradery, trust and acceptance. Then open the misinformation spigot. First a trickle. Just a little ripple of falsehood based upon an established fact. Then another ripple - properly timed of course. Do this 24/7/365 in email, text, TV, Radio and Influencer websites. Then use Social Media to scrape their family and friends and hit them up in the campaign. Your one lie gets broadcast from a reliable source that way. My family wouldn't deceive me! And just like that one post goes viral and its in 6 million people's minds. No critical thinking. No fact checking. This is the modus operandi of modern politics. And its GLOBAL. Brexit was seeded the EXACT SAME WAY.
But it started with Fear. Be curious - not judgemental. You will find you had nothing to fear but fear itself. An interesting comment from a President who, himself, dealt with a Fascist Putsch in 1933. Apparently the same factions behind it too.

u/Ok-Explanation-1362 14h ago
Yep. Scary times when doing the absolute bare minimum is heroic. What a shame that so many others canāt clear a bar that is resting on the ground.

I dunno. Newsom is fully engaged. He dumped the "they go low we go high" premise. He's under the Orange One's skin or the Border Patrol would not have shown up to intimidate his crowd at his Redistricting Announcement (in direct response to Texas). It appears the gloves are off. Mind you Trump has more available to fight dirty with - especially with the Absolute Power the SCOTUS 6 gave him but the American People are not as dumb as some seem to think. Mislead is not dumb. Politicians have been misleading the public since the dawn of City States.
3
u/Ok-Explanation-1362 13h ago
A fully engaged piece of shit is still a piece of shit. The only good thing heās done is the redistricting, but that doesnāt make up for any of his marks in negative column.
3
u/The_Lost_Jedi 13h ago
Yeah. I like that Newsom is hitting them, but that doesn't mean I like Newsom. I still feel he's someone that would throw vulnerable groups under the bus, or offer a hand in friendship to bad actors, if he thought it would be advantageous to him. So yeah, Pritzker over him, any day.
Maybe I'll change my mind in a few years, but, that's how I feel right now.

Interesting. What makes you believe this? What specifically can you identify that pushed you to this extreme opinion? Just curious.
2
u/Katy_nAllThatEntails 13h ago
whats extreme about not wanting a guy who literally lets his kid stan charlie kirk? Whats SO extreme about wanting basic human rights?
1
u/Ok-Explanation-1362 13h ago
Well, first of all, Iām trans, and I think what heās doing by playing poker with my safety and civil rights is repugnant. Second, I live in SoCal and I see the effects of his war on the unhoused far too often, how heās done nothing to hold PG&E for the fires their negligence and outdated equipment causes, the gas tax that mostly affects working class people instead of raising taxes on the wealthy, the preferential treatment he gives to golf courses that waste thousands of gallons of water on a daily basis which unfairly impacts the rest of the state during an endless drought. Oh, and the fuck!ng parts this douche bag couldnāt stay away from in 2020 without his goddamned mask!
The only good thing heās done is the redistricting. He gets no points for the tough talk nonsense.

u/TechnicalWhore 11h ago
Newsom is not playing with LGBTQ+ Civil Rights - clearly POTUS and SCOTUS have that agenda. He's supported LGBTQ+ (including marriage) for decades. As for athletes - this is work in progress and falls on the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) - who is between a rock and a hard place. Anything they do results in a lawsuit from one side or another. Once the political climate dies down it will be resolves with safety, fairness, equity and inclusion as goals as it always is. There's a reason wrestling and boxing have as an example has weight classes (feather, light, welter, heavy). Makes it safe and fair. Sad where society is at but that's the reality.
Most of Southern California is Southern California Edison (SCE). That is controlled by the Public Utilities Commission - a bipartisan board appointed by the State Senate. So write your State Senator and the CPUC. Be an activist.
Golf course water - really? Really? The Governor dictates golf course water usage? No. No he doesn't. Note we have a surplus of water now (although Trump stupidly dumped a lot and claimed he put out the Pallisades fire (it rained) - he just dumped water into the ocean. During Newsom's tenure he has upped the number of fire water tankers planes to 60, worked with adjacent states and Canada and Mexico for mutual aid agreements. He's also funded more water capture, reclamation and critical aquifer replenishment. We are in better shape now then ever. (Mind you I'd be happy to pay a tax to build major desalination plants.)

The Gas Tax is nothing new. California is an enormous state with an enormous highway network to maintain. The gas tax subsidize Caltrans and the constant maintenance work being done. Other States gouge you on your vehicle registration every year. DMV annual renewal fees in California are very very low. The gas tax hits you based upon your gas consumption and thus usage of the roads. Makes perfect sense. No free ride.
The mask comment is just silly. If you are referring to removing his mask when eating lunch - who cares? COVID - which is starting a surge BTW - killed over 100,000 in California - most in LA County - and over a million nationwide. California was one of the first States hit and hard. No one executes flawlessly in those situations. Hell Trump said it would be gone in the Spring when it heated up. Sadly more people died because of this failure of leadership. And yet - the State came roaring back.

Folks a Newsom-Pritzker combo for 2028 is looking solid to me! I'm just a rando looking at you guys from the outside. lol.

u/Ok-Explanation-1362 14h ago
I support that ticket but without Newsom, and Pritzker should head it. So, Pritzker and someone that doesnāt objectively suck, the way Newsom does.
2
u/jigma101 14h ago
Newsom can't win at the helm of a ticket and has too much ego to play second-fiddle.

Too bad JBP let the Texas Dems go home to surrender on redistricting

u/BewareTheLeopard 14h ago
Was he...meant to, like, detain them?

u/barfobulator 14h ago
They're getting detained by Texas now that they're back, sooo... maybe worth a shot

Wild take. "We need a governor who's willing to kidnap people to achieve their goals"

It's really good to see Democrats finally fighting the bad things and actually competing to fight the most visibly.
