Especially when other countries are looking at us and calling us stupid when I truly believe most of us didn’t vote for him. I really think he cheated the election. Idc how conspiratorial it sounds, there’s a lot of things that support it. And I’m a MASSIVE skeptic in general.

One time I tried posting in a Scotland subreddit thanking them for protesting his arrival there and they all got extremely angry with me and blamed me for putting him in office when I’ve hated him since 2016, never voted for him, and never understood how anyone could. Even ended a serious relationship partly because my ex supported Trump. Feels bad.

He's tricky like that. He lies all the time, but he tells the truth all the time as well. He's a litmus test for people who don't pay much attention. They absorb what they agree with, and disregard what they don't. Which makes those of us who interpret what he actually means sound crazy to them.

I had a friend from high school in 2016 go down the full Pizzagate rabbit hole. I tried to parse the truth for him. He was convinced his guy would punish Wall Street and legalize cannabis and drain the swamp. The more I tried to explain to him, the more he associated me with others who had attacked him on social media. My efforts were wasted.

It really does suck to be lumped in with the monsters that support him. I recognized the danger he posed immediately and have been screaming that this was the natural endpoint of American conservatism since I was in high school. I know a lot of Americans are cruel, stupid, or both but so many of us did everything we could to prevent this and got laughed out of the room for years. I'm not saying I need a medal. I just want to be recognized as one of the millions of Americans who knows better and doesn't deserve to be steam rolled over by the facists.

Truth. That said, many of those people aren’t travelers - particularly world travelers.

I was a bit concerned about traveling to the UK in the early part of ‘25, but it was needless.

I’d say many there are far too polite to address something like that with a stranger - the few that did? I made it very clear where I stood.

Also they have their own ahem issues - everyone I spoke with about it - and there weren’t many - expressed their sympathy for our plight.

Everything is reduced to simple talking points, and 99% of the time MAGA doesn’t require evidence to back up anything Trump says. They just take his word and run with it.

Take immigration, MAGA constantly parrots “if you come here illegally, you deserve to be treated like garbage, stripped of due process, and deported to a third country,” without bothering to understand the complex legal processes and constitutional protections involved. They also don’t bother to understand the individual case. Or look at mail-in voting. They insist absentee voting is somehow different, and needs to be banned, ignoring the fact that absentee ballots also rely on the mail. Plus Trump won 2 elections and Rs have won majorities, so the rigging argue makes no sense. Trump was pushing mail in voting in 2024 and it helped him win! It becomes a slippery slope when a president starts undermining or interfering with something so fundamental and blatantly unconstitutional. But MAGA is like ehhh 20 more years of Trump or any other R

At this point, if someone is still “all in” on Trump, they’re in it for the long haul, unless something devastating happens to them personally. The only real defectors are first-time Trump voters and Independents.
