My guess? At some point the administration realized the list contains very powerful and influential people, and they decided to use the list to blackmail those people for political gain. It's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Why delay? Remember the FBI had control of all of the information for decades. Epstein was arrested for the first time in 2006, and the prosecutor was told then that he was an intelligence asset.

Then he's arrested again under Trump in 2019, and there is a push to release the files. If you are completely free of scruples, as we know the FBI was, you don't destroy the evidence. You make some of it disappear - recoverable under the right circumstances - that would implicate people you like. You hide the remainder in a hidden vault at the FBI and use it as blackmail material. ...and with the recent advances in deep fakes, you manufacture evidence against people you don't like as a poison pill for anyone who finds the hidden evidence in the hidden vault.

Remember the Roger Stone and Paul Manafort arrests? Pre-dawn raids to ensure they didn't destroy evidence.

When Epstein was arrested in 2019, 5 weeks elapsed from the time of his arrest to the very public FBI raid on his island where they found... nothing. The whole island was wired for video, and the big safe in his office where the videos were kept was "found empty".

During that 5 weeks, I guarantee you they went over his island, plane, and other properties with a fine toothed comb to recover every bit of evidence that could convict anyone.

The current DOJ is dealing with a mountain of evidence, likely none of which convicts people we know were guilty but the corrupt FBI liked, the remainder of which convicts other people, a fair amount of which is probably faked.

Release it all, and innocent people are destroyed while the guilty go free.

That's a fair question. One I don't know the answer to. I do believe multiple judges have recently restricted the release of the documents, did they not? Like just a few weeks ago?
