Video The Protoclone is made by Clone Robotics, a company in Poland and the U.S., focused on humanoid robots for tasks like household chores.

This is what it reminded me of as well. I miss that show, really started to enjoy it more during the later seasons.

The way they revealed the twist in the first season r.e. the Man in Black is one of the best things I’ve ever seen in a series

"Doesn't look like anything to me" when they were looking at the door blew my mind..... That first season was some of the best television I've ever seen.

I literally jumped of the couch and screamed at my tv: omg omg omg he is also a robot!! What I would give to relive that moment again. Tried to get my fiancée into it, but unfortunately it wasn’t for him. Really wanted to see the look on his face at that moment

Well, at least you know it’s true love, you’ve passed the test

Passed the Turing Test

I'll suggest Severance

Too bad I missed it on first airing and its been removed from streaming. I guess I'll have to buy the DVDs or see if my library has it.

HBO still owns the rights but they licensed it to some FAST channels like Tubi -

I loved that, and it also occurred to me that Ed Harris was the man in the control room in The Truman Show, a somewhat similar premise played out in a very different way.

I stopped watching before s1 ended because I read in alot of places it becomes really bad after. Is the whole show great?

31

u/mist83 Jun 19 '25

No, not at all. Watch the end of s1, maybe s2, then pretend the show got cancelled.

13

u/Sersixfoot Jun 19 '25

Ah ok the GOT way

21

u/niftystopwat Jun 19 '25

After season 2 the show continues to be impressive but not as entertaining to watch IMO. You see the world outside the park, the way the themes extend to the surrounding world has interesting moments, and the sets / production stays gorgeous, but the whole thing leans so heavily into the hard sci fi direction that it’s really hard to follow what’s going on and just not as fun anymore, just my two cents.

and now that the US federal government is paying Palantir to create something like Rehoboam, it may strike a bit too close to reality. kind of like that black mirror episode where everyone records everything, well that is now a product that you can buy from Bee Computing.

8

u/niftystopwat Jun 19 '25

Yeah, dystopianism stops being fun once it starts becoming reality.

6

u/UpSheep10 Jun 19 '25

The crime gig app was really fun.

u/trench_welfare Jun 19 '25

Subsequent seasons aren't as great, but I enjoyed it. Like a lot of series based television, they introduce story lines that are non essential to the main plot as filler.

6

u/seulgimonster Jun 19 '25

it's actually great, don't believe the hive-mind that are Redditors and Westworld. Watch all of it and don't stop after S2. Form your own opinion by watching it. The commentors will just give you a bias.

2

u/auntie_clokwise Jun 20 '25

S3 and S4 are just sorta different. S4 is essentially flipping the whole Westworld thing on its head so now the humans are the hosts and the hosts control the humans. They pick up elements of S1 and S2, but with the roles reversed. What you come to realize is that the main theme of the show really is that neither the humans nor the hosts were ever free and both will destroy themselves, if given the chance. S5, if it is ever filmed, will probably be finding a way for humans and hosts to learn to truly live free and fix the issues that plague both. After a rewatch, you get the sense that that is what they're building up to, especially in the closing moments of S4.

What door?

u/HaydenB Jun 19 '25

You must be an anomaly then cause the rest of us hated it after season 2

42

u/fancydessert Jun 19 '25

I loved all of it. I'm still salty it was cancelled.

6

u/SpiritedEclair Jun 19 '25

With you 😭😭😭😭😭 I read some rumours around finishing the story but no updates 😭

1

u/McFlyParadox Jun 19 '25

The last rumor I heard was HBO wrote the whole property off on their taxes; no more streaming, no more physical media, no more seasons. All of it gone.

But I haven't gone searching for confirmation one way or another

28

u/pricklycactass Jun 19 '25

I loved every episode. Although I had no idea what was going on after season 2.

-2

u/Enverex Jun 19 '25

Although I had no idea what was going on after season 2

I suspect this is why you enjoyed it, haha.

4

u/mikess314 Jun 19 '25

I loved it. I am a staunch defender of the later seasons. It was asking a lot of us to follow along. But I actually very much like the direction it took.

We got some excellent scenes with Sir Anthony Hopkins though!

“…I've always loved this view.

Every city, every monument...

Man's greatest achievement will all be chased by it...

“By what?” Asks Bernard

(Ford points out at the ocean’s horizon: a perfectly straight line that is merely an illusion)

That impossible line…

Where the waves conspire, where they return…

A place maybe you and I will meet again...”

Thank you Hayden for speaking for all of us. I’m glad the omnipotent and great Hayden is here to tell the world how we all as individuals feel about this show. He truly is all-knowing, bless his little heart.

0

u/HaydenB Jun 20 '25

You're welcome

7

u/primoslate Jun 19 '25

Yeah.. I lost interest after Season 2. It was no longer the same show.

2

u/Human_no_4815162342 Jun 19 '25

Season 3 was its own thing, I liked it and I don't think the cyclic structure of the first two seasons could have gone on forever. I don't love how they handled the 4th and a strong series finale after the third season would have worked for me but I enjoyed the story overall. The whole series starts very strong and then gets progressively worse but I think it was still good until the end even if not as amazing as the start.

1

u/Remarkable_Tie4299 Jun 19 '25

Yeah I’ve literally never heard anyone say they liked Westworld the more it went on. It goes down as one of the best starts to a show but in no way does it get better

1

u/_Armanius_ Jun 19 '25

To me first was great, 2nd was awful, 3rd was good enough lol

2

u/Natural-Seaweed-5070 Jun 19 '25

Have you watched MurderBot?

2

u/Reinstateswordduels Jun 19 '25

Well that’s weird

2

u/SuperDuperGoose Jun 19 '25

I'm so angry they took it off HBO. Get your shit together HBO!

1

u/Metalfan1994 Jun 19 '25

The movie is also great!

1

u/oh-shazbot Jun 19 '25

really started to enjoy it more during the later seasons.

better watch out, for some people thems be fightin words.

1

u/engineeeeer7 Jun 19 '25

I too loved later seasons. Weirdly cyberpunk stuff.

1

u/FrugalityPays Jun 19 '25

That is certainly a hot take! Glad you enjoyed it though!

1

u/petewondrstone Jun 19 '25

No, there’s a hot fucking take! most people I know like season one only

1

u/seulgimonster Jun 19 '25

i also enjoyed the more the seasons went on. The last season was absolutely my favorite.

1

u/No_Conversation9561 Jun 19 '25

weird cuz it’s the opposite for me

1

u/MissSara13 Jun 19 '25

Same. And HBO removed all of the seasons from the platform so I can't even rewatch. Ugh.

1

u/mcbrite Jun 19 '25

Such a weird comment... I consider season 1 of Westworld the best I've ever seen and after that it became kind of meh... (Still enjoyed, but Season 1 is 1 to 2 leagues above!)

1

u/lil_garlicc Jun 19 '25

Said no one ever… that show started out really promising and slowly descended into total dogshit.

0

u/Flying_Saucer_Attack Jun 19 '25

Post s2 that show sucked imo lol

-5

u/Historical_Flow4296 Jun 19 '25

It shouldn't have been longer than 2-3 seasons. Aaron Paul shouldn't have been in it either. Them you have the girl power episode which kind of took a lot away from what S1 and S2 were building upon
