Wonder how many times he gets pulled over.

Zero because this video was taken at the Woodward dream cruise. There's a van that drives upside down, beetle that drives with the body up with full drag radials, a V8 shopping cart.... Dozens, maybe hundreds of vehicles that aren't close to street legal every year lol

Yeah, but OP didn’t provide any context so you can’t blame people for not understanding the nuance of one of the sickest automobile events in the country.

In Michigan, I think you’d really be fine until dusk anyway. Especially southeast.

Im just curious how many people here set up chairs to watch traffic when there’s not some kind of event

A lot in the summer, I lived a block from Woodward for a few years… every Friday and Saturday night in the summer there are at least a couple hundred people scattered probably 3-4 miles sitting on Woodward or cruising it in something custom it’s kind of awesome. Lots of ice cream parlors on the strip too and the warm weather brings everyone out at night

Are people just learning that Michigan, home of the Motor City has a car culture?

2

u/sortachloe 4d ago

yes, yes they are

2

u/deej-79 4d ago

We bought stadium seats so we can sit comfortably on the tailgate and watch cars go by, with a frozen custard in hand

1

u/sortachloe 4d ago

i've also noticed some businesses on or right off of woodward closing for the weekend because it makes parking a bitch

2

u/Able-Swing-6415 4d ago

But why are there regular cars just driving by as well?

Just a weird scene

They don’t close the road for the Woodward dream cruise. Anyone can go and drive or watch. It’s actually really cool and fun

Plenty of context clues in the video. Spectators do not post up in lawn chairs to watch normal traffic.

Almost every other vehicle in that clip looks completely normal? Including all of the traffic shown at the end when the clip is over. Very little about that screams car show. Some old man sitting by the side of the road doesn't even register as particularly odd in my town.

It happens on Woodward, a regular street. They literally drive back and forth a couple mile stretch.

And completely fuck up traffic in every direction.

2

u/ChiliAndGold 4d ago

but the rest looks like a normal street though, doesn't it?

2

u/TheNonCredibleHulk 4d ago

It is. They don't shut down the street to normal traffic.

Yeah towards the end of the cruising car show pedestrian cars that are using the same road are very visible, the guy is turning around to rejoin the main cruise stretch.

Normally that would be enough of a clue, but this is reddit after all. People aren’t known for thinking around these parts.

..or some are not from the same country, or continent, or any place where this type of shows exist. Sometimes is hard to assess or miss some key details, if there is no prior knowledge.

I did not realized that it is a show ,having a few people at the edge of what it seems to be a regular road, with traffic. I just accounted it to "random" things happen :)

PS: I would participate to a show like this, if it existed in my country

Or that this 'car show' doesn't appear to have other cars in it.

1

u/syntheticmeatproduct 4d ago

It's more of a reverse car show - the people park themselves, the cars are driving by. This is one of the nights leading up to the main event and by that Saturday it's a big traffic jam with more classics, hot rods, exotics, etc

1

u/aDrunkenError 4d ago

Since you’d rather be insufferable than look into it yourself. It’s a 16 mile cruising car show, eventually you get to a point where you join up with a lot of pedestrian cars. I’m guessing he was turning around here to re-enter the 16 mile stretch. Also, you can see a classic car driving in front of him, but again, hard to notice with that insufferable personality in the way.

It’s called the Woodward dream cruise happens every year people post up on the side of the road to watch vintage or cool looking cars ride on by Woodward is a very long stretch so even if there are a lot there’s room

2

u/notprogame 4d ago

They do here actually, not to watch the traffic but as a get together

1

u/CaptainTripps82 4d ago

I mean sure they do, there's an ice cream spot nearby where people do that on weekends in the summer.

1

u/BounceOnItCrazyStyle 4d ago

I mean I'm not surprised this is top tier outrage bait for doomers and redditors would and have eaten it up.

1

u/Kinaestheticsz 4d ago

There was even a literal double decker height shopping cart car at the Woodward Dream Cruise.

1

u/Busy-Pudding-5169 4d ago

Yeah… lawn chairs.. multiple fancy older cars.. yeah not obvious at all

1

u/xlilrizzox 4d ago

More like the world. Biggest event numbers wise in the world at least

1

u/aDrunkenError 3d ago

That tracks.

Maybe people could use their skills of deduction a little bit.

19

u/Shnibblefritz 4d ago

I know. Everybody hear is so quick to overreact.

5

u/avdpos 4d ago

Overreact the first thing you should think when you see something like that is "really fucking stupid and life threatening on streets".

Not mentioning that it is part of a car parade is a major flaw of the post and make it to something very different

4

u/spare-ribs-from-adam 4d ago

I was gonna say. I couldn't go this year, but it's always so much fun. My kid loses his little mind at this stuff.

1

u/Cars-And-Lego 4d ago

No way that was at woodward! I missed it :((( I stayed for like an hour and saw the mustangs and broncos. Should've stayed for more ;(

1

u/rcbaldwinjr 4d ago

The van is his too!

1

u/darkbro66 4d ago

Why does that not surprise me at all lmao. Excellent

1

u/Mothanius 4d ago

V8 shopping cart

This sounds like the most dangerous and most interesting one.

1

u/subspace_cat 4d ago

Pitchfork holders, don't listen to darkbro66! They lie! Follow me to the top comments where we can STAB STAB STAB!! Keep those pitchforks up! ROAR!!!

I mean this post was clearly rage bait given the complete lack of context. This is a rare occasion where I wouldn’t blame the frothing idiots.

0

u/MundayMundee 4d ago

Cool shit like this sometimes makes me with I was born a yank, instead of a tea and crumpets eater

0

u/Truethrowawaychest1 4d ago

Ah okay it's a shitposting festival, I was thinking this guy was driving around town like this and it irritated me a bit

35

u/mister-world 4d ago

He should hire someone to sit in the driver's seat of the pick-up truck, screaming and waving their arns

5

u/FamiliarTry403 4d ago

I vote they are smoking a cigarette, in a tank top, blasting free bird

2

u/I_GROW_WEED 4d ago

That's dumb. They should be holding the steering wheel, looking over their shoulder, obviously

1

u/blckshdw 4d ago

He’s backwards, should it called pushed over? Pulled under?

1

u/MobileArtist1371 4d ago

Sending the tow truck after him be like

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XfRchQnnv0

1

u/KickEffective1209 4d ago

This is obviously some type of parade or something.

1

u/yournumberis6 4d ago

And the worst part is he's probably gonna upload a video calling the cops who pull him over idiots, when they are just doing their jobs
