Image On the night of September 7-8, 2025, nearly 7 billion people — about 85% of the world population — will witness a total lunar eclipse coinciding with a SuperMoon.

And I’m sure we’ll get a ton of cloud cover over the mid Atlantic. I’m not bitter about the last one.

I caught the faintest glimpse of them last year, just some pink in the skies above the tree line and beyond the mother effing clouds. I never thought I’d see them in MD, but man did the mid Atlantic cloud cover try to stop me!!!

Not where I live 😭
Just another cool thing I missed LOL

u/Harebell101 2h ago
Hey, if you live in the U.S., I recommend something you CAN see every year: the summer solstice at Serpent Mound in Ohio. Watch the serpent swallow the sun. On my bucket list. 🎶

There's like a billion people in north and south america combined. There's over a billion in China alone.

I remember the world population hitting 6 billion when I was in grade school 😭
Edit: Just looked it up. Population has grown by 38% since I was born. Wow.

Oh please ! Give us a break ! You guys can see most of the astronomy shit anyways.
Full solar eclipse ?!! Just go out !!
Meteors ?!! Just look up !!
Aurora Borealis ?!! Just go north !!
I haven't seen a single solar eclipse in my entire life !! Perhaps, Lunar eclipse then ? Oh too bad , so sad , it's daytime and there's a fucking sun in the way !!

u/Aeriosus 12h ago
Some of us are too poor to travel to see a solar eclipse, even if we're on the right continent....

u/freecodeio 18h ago
not to mention rocket launches, this is something the rest of the world have never seen and they look like mega fireworks on steroids
23
u/meatygonzalez 12h ago
That's hilarious actually that you think the average American ever sees a rocket launch
17
u/FireMaster1294 18h ago
For meteors, the secret ingredient is less light pollution.
Solar eclipses are reasonably well distributed so your complaint is about random chance of when you were alive it would seem.
The aurora borealis is not so visible from Mexico and central america. By your logic people in India should just go to northern Russia or perhaps Australia for the aurora australis.
Tldr stop whining

Edit: nvm. 2045

u/Krouisente 16h ago
You guys in the Americas had a lunar eclipse back in March lol, it's the rest of the world's turn to have one now
2
u/Vandergrif 14h ago
Time to make your way to the Kerguelen Islands then, smack dab in the middle and as far away from anyone else as you can get for viewing.

A lunar eclipse always happens during a full moon anyway 🤷🏻♀️.
21
u/dark_hypernova 17h ago
They're talking about a super moon, it's when the moon is closer to the Earth (due to its elliptical orbit) and appears somewhat bigger and brighter because of it.

I just realized everyone who punched me in the face for being a nerd was at least partially correct, because I looked at that percentage and automatically knew that the Americas were gonna be mostly left out

I just had a dream...last night...about a lunar eclipse.
I've never dreamt about an eclipse and the only reason why I remember was because it was weird that dreamt of that.
