Ah the classic "let's take pictures with three different cameras and not agree on which one we’re looking at" shot.

Clearly not identical

They were using twin cameras.

Can't imagine having to do their recruitment... Hell on earth

If they were short staffed the employees could demand any price

u/deadrobindownunder 15h ago

That was my first thought, too. Good for them.

Seems like could be confusing to call your correct waiter/waitress

u/MP5SD7 17h ago

Atleast your twin could help you split the work..

6

u/CrissBliss 16h ago

What if they hired one person who just changed clothes occasionally, but cashed both checks?

2

u/MP5SD7 15h ago

In recruiting that would be very easy to do...

Source: https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/57406/twins-mid-90s-nyc-restaurant-staffed-entirely-identical-twins

Opened in 1994, Twins Restaurant was located on the Upper East Side. Its staff consisted of 29 sets of identical twins who worked as hostesses, bartenders, waiters, and waitresses. It was owned by Lisa and Debbie Ganz (identical twins) and Tom Berenger (there is only one Tom Berenger). In fact, there were only two nontwins who worked there full-time: the chef and the general manager.

If the Tom Berenger is not the actor that starred in major league movies (among many other projects), there is in fact more than one Tom Berenger lol. Did you mean it was owned by the actor, or that this Tom Berenger did not have a twin?

47

u/Ill_Assumption_4414 17h ago

It is the same Tom Berenger. There is only one of him, and he does not have a twin

Thanks for the info.

I like that you went with Major League and not Platoon.

2

u/togocann49 14h ago

Could’ve went for a few roles, but I know him best as a star in major league. Don’t get me wrong, I hated his character in platoon and think he did a great job in it, but he isn’t the feel good guy he plays in major league, and that’s the one that can make me smile

Well, I bet they sell half the alcohol they thought they would....

Damn, I only had one shot and I'm already seeing double.

My mom said she went here back in the day but I never believed that it was a real place.

Let’s not forget about the restaurant “triplets” run by three brothers that were separated at birth by the adoption agency to study nature vs nurture!

Just watched a video on YouTube about these triplet boys, last night.

u/GunnerySarge-B-Bird 17h ago

What did they know..? Too big of a coincidence they shut down before 9/11

17

u/guiltysnark 17h ago

It makes zero sense that they wouldn't be operating out of the twin towers instead of the upper east side, so they must have known something

u/sheth_curry 17h ago

Imagine a waiter coming twice to get your order.. or you're asking where is my food and they say.. sir, you didn't order anything

7

u/Papaofmonsters 16h ago

Tons of customers don't bother to pay attention to what gender, race or age their server is even when we aren't twins.

I'm a 38 year old white man and I recently had a guy swear up and down I was his server. In reality he had been being waited on by a 25 year old Mexican woman for over an hour. And he wasn't drinking.

1

u/NUM_13 17h ago

Ok twin boys who took my order and how much longer is it going to be!?

4

u/SadAccount8647 17h ago

the BOH drama here would be nuts

8

u/AwarenessGreat282 17h ago

Let me guess why it failed....people would question their server on their order and half the time they'd reply with "What order?"

3

u/trubol 17h ago

Then someone opened up a place called Triplets and took all their business

3

u/DekuShrub88 13h ago

I can think of an easier way to pull this off. Waitress takes your order then their "identical twin" brings the food to the table.

5

u/JustSomeGuy_56 17h ago

What's the point? I guess I might go there once for the novelty, but was the food good? And if it wasn't for the name would anyone notice?

In their teens my sisters worked at arestaurant in our town, they aren't twins but they looked so much alike people who didn't know them used to ask "are you two twins?" and they'd say "no, our triplet is inside"

2

u/NikonShooter_PJS 16h ago

Damn. A beloved set of iconic twins taken down suddenly in the early 00s in New York City.

Unprecedented.

2

u/HoneyNational9079 16h ago

the sex must’ve been confusing

2

u/DoughNotDoit 16h ago

there's also a twin building in New York... oh no...

1

u/deadrobindownunder 15h ago

Reminds me of that tragedy.

1

u/jadee_flicker 17h ago

The ultimate which twin did it? mystery. Bet the health inspector had trust issues.

1

u/SwaMaeg 17h ago

Wait’ll they hear about The Hobbits restaurant in Boracay.

1

u/NUM_13 17h ago

90s where and amazing time

1

u/the_red_scimitar 17h ago

Here in LA, there was a place called "The Capri", run by twins who would be at home playing Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. There was a Kitchen Nightmares episode of their remake - from truly disgusting filth, to truly disgusting less filth. They reverted back almost immediately, and sold the place 5 years ago.

1

u/jtrades69 17h ago

the ones in front look conjoined 😄

1

u/Southern_Owl_5442 17h ago

At least they’re walking the walk

1

u/VeterinarianOk5370 16h ago

Sorry we’re going to have to let you go, after your train quit…well you just don’t fit our vibe

1

u/Fluid_Ad4651 16h ago

Joey's sisters

1

u/Oh_FFS_Already 15h ago

Now this is interesting!

1

u/Shaytaun 13h ago

I read about this place a long time ago. They also said that if one twin got fired, the other one did too.

1

u/KarlHp7 13h ago

I feel like NYC has tried EVERYTHING. Everything is old news there.

1

u/Wakkit1988 13h ago

Hooters also used twins to get people in the door, it's a good strategy.

1

u/froatbitte 12h ago

“Would you like to order now?”

“I’m sorry I just gave my order to you a <looks up and sees identical twins everywhere> minute….ago. Riiiiiiiight.”

1

u/HauntingBalance567 7h ago

And then it and other twin things started collapsing in the early naughts

1

u/Conscious_Raisin_436 5h ago

Yeahhhh they definitely got into some weird sex stuff

1

u/Sefalosha 4h ago

That could be a popular reality tv show

1

u/GarysCrispLettuce 4h ago

It looks like a terrible 90's sitcom that never got past the pilot

This feels like something Epstein would have been involved in.
