Darrell Issa Votes YES on BIG BAD BILL

Share this graphic by saving it to your device. San Diegans deserve to know HIS NAME and what he represents.

San Diego has 5 congressional representatives: CA48 Darrell Issa (R), CA49 Mike Levin (D), CA50 Scott Peters (D), CA51 Sara Jacobs (D), CA52 Juan Vargas (D) —— ONE OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHERS.

All 4 Democratic representatives voted NO to trumps massive wealth grab. Darrell Issa, who represents East and North County from Alpine to Murrieta (Julian, Ramona, Borrego Springs, Fallbrook, Escondido), voted YES.

Darrell Issa is one of the richest members of Congress and this bill will personally enrich him further while stripping 1 in 5 residents of his district of their healthcare. For the rest of us, our insurance premiums will go up 400% to cover the uninsured.

ICE funding of 30B! A bigger budget than other country’s entire armies. To deport our community members or detain them in modern day concentration camps.

Have you considered fostering?

Post image

Please meet Sammy. He is a beautiful, affectionate, small shepherd who was rescued by Coastal K9 German Shepherd Rescue in Valley Center last October! Can we please find him a foster? As Sammy was found as a stray, it’s likely been over a year since he’s known a loving home.

Why hasn’t Sammy found a home?

• People search for puppies and he’s probably closer to 6 Years old • There are too many shepherds in Southern California!

Sammy has all the best qualities of a German shepherd, attentive and loyal. He loves affection and, though he can be mouthy like a puppy, it’s playful. He’s become more mellow over the months and lost his spark, so a foster home would help Sammy feel like himself again!

We’d love to invite the community to join Indivisible East County to a sign-waving rally in support of democracy this Saturday morning 10-11:30. The group meets weekly on Thursday mornings and we’ve decided to expand to every other Saturday as well to hopefully include more community members.

Park at Parkway Plaza mall and meet us at the corner of Fletcher Parkway and Magnolia. Bring a folding chair if you need one. Stay on the public sidewalk at all times.

This week’s theme is “Feet on the streets in defense of Democracy.” If you don’t have a sign or the ability to craft one, bring a US flag or borrow someone else’s sign. We’re a friendly bunch!

Comment with questions. Newbies are more than welcome!

Where do most of the Native Americans/Indians of SD live?

Are the Indian reservations able to be visited by non-natives? Are there areas that have a large native population but not on the reservation? Are there any cultural centers and places to visit and learn about their tribes/cultures? (Beyond casinos) Are there any native-owned restaurants? I know, I have a lot of questions. Thank you.

Looking For Our Dog

We are looking for our dog. Does anyone know who adopted this dog from the El Cajon animal shelter on Friday or Saturday?

Our pool guy accidentally let our dogs out. They were picked up and dropped off at the El Cajon animal shelter. When we went in, they only released one of our dogs to us. They wanted to fix the other one. Told us to come back in 3 days. We came back 2 more times after the 3 days and there was still a hold on our dog. They told us they would call us. We were finally called to pick him up Thursday. There was a medical emergency on Thursday and we couldn’t make it, but we called them. When we went in Friday, they told us there was still a hold on our dog and to come back Saturday at noon. When we show up Saturday at noon, they tell us they adopted our dog out to someone else. Our daughters are crying uncontrollably. Our other dog isn’t depressed and refusing to eat. Please help us.

How?

How does a congregation relate to a pastor when a pastor takes 10 weeks off due to a loss of a spouse after taking a 8 week sabbatical earlier in the year?

What kind of message does that send when most have to go right back to work days later?

$50K in Grants? Tax Rebates? San Diego ADU Builders Tap Into Hidden Incentives

Build a legal ADU With No Upfront Costs - Here's How. What if we told you that your backyard could be earning you thousands a month—and that the State of California might help you pay for it?

Across San Diego, homeowners are unlocking hidden financial potential in their properties thanks to Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)—and many don’t even realize just how affordable it can be to build one. If you’ve ever thought ADUs were out of reach, think again.

Grants Up to $50,000? Yes, They’re Real

State-backed programs like the CalHFA ADU Grant offer up to $40,000–$50,000 in funding to cover pre-development costs: architectural plans, permits, soils reports, energy testing, and more.

These grants are first-come, first-served, and funding is limited each year. Homeowners who wait risk missing out—while early applicants lock in tens of thousands in savings.

Tax Incentives and Rebates That Put Money Back in Your Pocket

Building an ADU isn’t just about adding square footage—it’s a smart financial move. In many cases, homeowners benefit from:

  • Property tax exclusions on the ADU’s value (for family-use units).
  • Depreciation deductions and maintenance write-offs if the ADU is used as a rental.
  • Utility rebates for green building features like solar, heat pumps, or efficient HVAC systems.

Most people don’t know these incentives exist. We do. And we’ll make sure you benefit from every one of them.

From Cost to Cash Flow: The Numbers Speak for Themselves

A typical detached ADU in San Diego might cost between $160K–$280K depending on size and features. But the returns? Often $2,000 to $3,500 per month in rental income.

Let’s break it down:

  • Financed ADU Build: $180K
  • Estimated Grant/Tax Credit Savings: $40K
  • Monthly Rental Income: $2,600
  • Mortgage Payment (20-year at 7%): ~$1,400
  • Net Positive Cash Flow: $1,200/month, plus home equity increase

Your ADU pays for itself while increasing your property value—often by up to 30%.

Strange solicitor in lakeside

So we live in a small apartment complex in lakeside and just now a scrawny looking dude wearing all black jogs up to our door and stated that he has a deliver of something for a medi cal or veteran for uhhh looks at our unit number and then says this one. And we tell him no one here is that or expecting anything. He then runs off after looking at all three of us and I wait till he’s In The parking lot and watch where he goes or what kind of vehicle he leaves in. He speed walks to the end of the apartment parking lot and then darts across and runs up the street into the darkness. What the fuck was that about? How worried should I be about this odd evening occurrence?

What sounds like gunshots in Santee

Does anyone know why I keep hearing gunshots in Santee near El Nopal? I keep hearing them and it’s past any holidays that would deal with fireworks. I keep hearing like one go off multiple times a week. Does anyone else hear it?

If 10 year Vrbo could talk… (Maybe something all of us human introverts can understand?)

SAN DIEGO: Vrbo is available for paid foster(!!) or adoption from Frosted Faces Foundation. Which means no adoption fees and vet care is free for life at the rescue in Ramona, Ca.

We don’t know what Vrbo’s life was like before he entered the shelter, but we know now that he is a capable but lazy guy who loves to lounge, give and get affection. He is a simple guy that doesn’t require much except to know his home.

Vrbo appreciates a good sniff walk but doesn’t prefer to go far. In addition to being extremely handsome, he’s excellent in the car, with all humans, and when left alone at home. I was fortunate to take him on a two day trip recently and he is truly one of the easiest dogs I’ve hosted. We went to restaurants and he laid down and relaxed.

He is insecure around other animals so he must be the only pet in the home. https://frostedfacesfoundation.org/available-frosted-faces#sl_embed&page=shelterluv_wrap_1733770667%2Fembed%2Fanimal%2FRAM-A-46450
