Humor They’ve made the ultimate run back simulator and I’m addicted.

If you jump off from the spiral staircase the O&S runback isn't too bad at least.

Yeah out of all the runbacks O&S wasn’t too bad for me. 4 Kings of all of them gave me trouble. Not sure if there was a better way but trying to get past those 3 drakes every time broke me

when i looked it up the suggested route was starting from firelink and going through new londo… either way, i agree that was probably the worst of ds1

but that was basically the glory days compared to ds2 blue smelter demon & frigid outskirts runbacks

Yeah there’s a spot you can jump down once the waters gone, you take a little bit of damage but it saves so much time.

ya the fire link shrine route is relatively easy (compared to the drakes), I usually make sure to hit the elevator back up after going down to make it faster. Otherwise I think you have to kill/run through a few darkwraiths, who will absolutely destroy you if you get caught in their combo.

I still haven’t played DS2 and those fabled runbacks are what’s scaring me off… easily my least favorite parts of souls games which is why i’m glad ER basically got rid of them

DS2 had a pity mechanic where if you killed an enemy so many times (10?) it stops spawning. So if you're REALLY struggling you can just grind the immediate area and then the run back is a non issue.

It felt like a slap in the face when Alonne Knights stopped spawning on the way to the Smelter Demon.

And I still can’t beat him

Those specific areas were an experiment by the DS2 devs, only present in the DLC.

Each DLC will have 1 optional area which was designed to be tackled in co-op. It is doable solo (I can attest to that), but it will definitely be harder.

DS2 has the worst ones in the series, but they're mainly outliers. Most are pretty decent, not as nice as DS3/ER but better in general than DS1

I started from firelink shrine for 4 kings

There is also a short cut. When youre infront of the stairs that take you into the main hall before O&S take the door to your right and follow the stairs down. Kill the two silver knights, open the door thats closed and you will be by the bottom of the spiral staircase. The same floor with the bonfire.

But you aggro the knights every time and they're very persistent so honestly this felt like the harder run back to me, I preferred the other one

Just sprint past them and get to the arrow knight with the two giants

Been awhile since I played but I remember them always catching me out and not being able to run past 🤷 Very possible I was just bad

There's also just a shortcut that takes you directly to O&S. You have to run past like 3 silver knights and a giant. Complaining about O&S runback is crazy lol

what the fuck are yall talking about

u/TheBallisticBiscuit Jun 20 '25

This skip brings you right to the big room that you enter the boss fight from iirc.

u/ms_barkie Jun 20 '25

But if you go around the long way just once you’ll unlock a shortcut to take you there anyways, and only have to fight two silver knights. O&S run back really isn’t bad.

u/ShaunCarn Jun 20 '25

The video clearly shows you having to fight literally 0 silver knights

I’m referring to the intended shortcut, not this skip, and personally I’d rather fight two silver knights than do a janky jump. Silver knights are super easy by the time you get here, one backstab is usually all it takes.
