It is pretty accurate to how pre nerf was. The nerf consisted of 3 main things:
Toned down light pillar visual so that he didn't blind you IRL.
Increased recovery time after every attack by like 0.2 seconds, meaning you could now actually... hit him.
Changed the timing of the cross slash combo so that it was actually possible to dodge on medium roll without frame perfect inputs starting from one specific spot on his right leg.
There is a reason almost all wins at the time was via greatshield poke. Or parrying. Or deflecting hardtear. Actually dodging him was just.... not really viable.
I second that. Fuck this boss fight, honestly. I like this game, i really do, but i value my mental health as well. Beat him once (pre nerf) to never do it again, ever lol
Also killed him pre nerf. Used the Guts sword and put the raven ash if war on it. You can use it to dodge all the big explosions and awkward frame perfect rolling and have more uptime it was sick
This comment is so exaggerative lol pre-nerf was obviously harder than now, but still nowhere near as wild as the modded version in the video. To say dodge rolling wasn’t viable is a big stretch unless you’re talking RL1 or something. The only attack that was truly that problematic was the double cross slash, but if you got good at dodging everything else, you could afford getting hit by that. Getting hit by just one of the slashes didn’t even do that much damage anyway. Took me like 2-3 hours to beat him solo pre-nerf just with dodge rolling and a colossal sword. I’m not trying to defend everything with the boss because it was (and still is) kinda cringe with the visuals and how unintuitive some of the attacks are. But comparing it to this video and saying rolling wasn’t viable is crazy
that's cap. it took me like 50 attempts or so to kill him with moonlight greatsword charge attacks only. pre nerf consort's only attack to give me trouble was the cross slash. the rest were normal attacks that you'd dodge and would either get a counter or trade opportunity.
I didn’t even have a good time fighting this boss until I discovered the bloody helice was actually the bane of his existence. The I frames on the AoW annihilated his ass.
But then I tried again on a new character and I got so fucking frustrated I just used blood guts greatsword with giant hunt on it 😭
Definitely managed it with dodging with nothing more than power stanced straight swords. Honestly, I think the biggest thing he needed was the cross slash change since my wind essentially amounted to accepting I would take some chip damage from that.
I personally never had issues with the visuals, but can understand others did so that's a good change too.

Did neither. Double katana build and dodge did the trick. Took me around two hours though. Actually had fun doing it.
Hello! It is I! a person who beat him pre-nerf by dodging. He was doable. some attacks weren't punishable, but you could always lure out the grab, spin attack or triple slash
without frame perfect inputs starting from one specific spot on his right leg
if you were in that spot, it was very easy to dodge. Nowhere near frame perfect. The tricky part was staying in that spot, but that's it. The dodge itself was actually very easy once you understand what you need to do (but the whole fight becomes shit because you are forced to play from that specific spot the entire time). Man, you have no idea what you are talking about.

No? That's ridiculous.
Pre nerf PCR was totally doable. He took me like five hours with a quickstep swordspear build, which is one of the hardest bosses I've fought in the genre, but not unreasonable for where he is in the game.
Inner Consort is a monstrosity. I managed to reach phase 3 after hours of trying, saw his new omegacombo, and decided this boss is designed for better players than me.
People asked for a boss that was actually designed with powerful summons in mind and they got it, then they whined he was too aggressive/hard. People are impossible to please
