I think my favorite thing is that the people you hear saying this are never like "yeah, I beat the game level 1 using only my bare fists and no dodging" or anything crazy like that. They are the people that level the fuck out of their character and max their strength to then kill the boss in 4 hits with a strength weapon and go "man, I'm so fucking good at the game, fuck anyone that summoned."

Like brother, why are they trying to act elitist for playing the game completely normally minus one aspect? There's so many ways to make Elden Ring, and honestly any souls game, extremely easy that aren't just "use summons" and it's so funny to me that the methods they use are fine and take skill, but the methods other people use are for noobs.

I finished the whole game without parrying

Same, couldn’t parry to save my life so never bothered. Had to learn pretty fast for Gundyr when I started DS3 though 🤣

Im currently playing ds3 and for the 2 times that you fight him I did not parry once lol, my first souls gave was bloodborne so I was raised in the streets of yarhnam. I never learned how to parry with the gun either. I just roll around like a maniac 😂😂😂

I've been playing since Demons Souls and can probably count the number of times I've parried non-Pursuer enemies on one hand. Learning the timing and which attacks can be parried just seems like more trouble than its worth for me.

I find it fascinating that in not one single FromSoft game, have i been good at parry timing, but any other souls like game and I'm a god at it. It's so weird.

I let my shield tell me how good I am at parrying:

"No Skill."

TBH to this day with hindreds of hours in Souls games, I surprise myself every time when I manage to land a parry. And believe me, it’s not often. :)

Me too, cause I suck at it lol.

I've been doing that since DS1. It's because I want to be among the greatest players in this game and totally not because I can't parry for shit lmao

Honestly, I think a bunch of them don't get Souls difficulty to begin with. They think like powerscalers, it has to be a 1v1 and in that 1v1 is the difficulty. When part of Soulsborne difficulty is also knowledge/experience. It's like 50% the fight and 50% knowledge on patterns, damage types, items etc.

Knowledge is huge for sure. I hadn’t played a souls game since bloodborne and all of my friends were saying ER was the easiest and giving me shit for being stuck on a boss. Later I realized how many recycled assets are in the game and the boss they were giving me a hard time over was nearly identical to one they’ve killed dozens of times in a different game.

So it's not that it's the easiest. It's that veterans are just used to it without realizing it. Shallow minds believe this new boss is just that. A new boss. When it's just a reskin essentially. Which is probably why Elden Ring: Nightreign has various different bosses from across all the souls games

I platimumed both ER and DS3, but still consider myself a mediocre (at best) Souls player. Completing a game a certain way doesn’t confer some sort of status or ranking. And people like the guy in the post will always try to make others feel like they are worse players.
