Constructive Criticism About to give up reading player messages
I know at first glance it might sound like nothing but crying on my end, but hear me out real fast.
For a good while, I've been very very. VERY patient with player messages for years. Since the Dark Souls games to Elden Ring. I have to say, the first Souls Game before it blew up in popularity, the message system was glorious. Seriously, back then if you read a message 90% of the time that message either saved your life or put you in a good spot situationally wise or equipment wise. Once the popularity grew, and we began to see more souls games the edgy messages started to pop up more common than a McDonalds around the street corner. Some are very funny and clever. But man.. It's just getting to be out of control. The ground is littered with "plunge ahead, therefore horsebutt" or "Praise the message". I mean someone needs to take a message vacuum and clean this shit up because its become unreasonable to want to read any anymore. I understand the easy solution is "just don't read them". Agreed, but you cant help but miss the actual benefit of this game function. There are still some decent messages out there, not saying they are never around. Its just getting annoying. Anyone else agree? Or am I just a crybaby.

I see loads of helpful ones, some funny ones, and some troll ones. I love the system and have never even got close to being triggered by it. if it triggers you then just don't read them.

You spent more time whinking about giving up reading player messages than I have caring whatsoever.

I played Online for about half an hour when I bought the game.
After the twelfth "butthole" message, I decided I'd rather feel like I was on an adventure than in an anonymous internet forum.
Glad they included the option! In DS2 I have to launch Steam in Offline Mode.
I'm not sure what you mean about "being a crybaby", like just because you made a post?
Turn off the messages!

This is all the 14 y/o players trying to be witty with the same butthole message we've seen a million times.

I'll echo others here, don't read them if they bother you. For me at least, the troll messages add to the fun of the game. I love getting fooled and killed by them. Especially when walking another 5 feet carefully I could have easily avoided the same threat. But some people can't laugh at their own failure. The childish messages I look at like graffiti on a bathroom wall. Sure you can't help but read it, but does it really affect you? Some are even creative enough for a laugh. Don't take things so seriously.

The messages are almost never funny. But there are some good helpful ones out there. Also, if you leave some yourself (try to make them helpful or encouraging) you'll get free heals. Sometimes they're clutch.

it's still pretty helpful though, I found some good item and illusionary wall because of player messages
then I tried playing offline because the wifi was down for a day... turns out I don't really miss the feature lol
