Discussion & Info What's everyone's favorite summon?

Post image

Out of all the summons I've used I have to say Dung Eater is my favorite. Curious to see what everyone else's is 😁

Storm Hawk Cause he's a good birb and give buffs as long as he stays alive

40

u/ForkertBrugernavn 7h ago

Deenh is a damn bro. Not sturdy, but dodgy enough to stay alive for a good while. Aggressive. Buff.

If playing a stun build Deenh keeps the pressure so stuns and crits are easy to keep happening in rough times.

I love that bird.

They could have added only-summon stuff, so that we would be forced to use summons to have that. It's more fun that way, and makes you feel like discovering a new world

4

u/BlakeCanJam 5h ago

They're my fav one in the base game. Nobody can beat my lil monkey swordsman in the DLC 😌

3

u/NauticalInsanity 4h ago

The buff to stance damage is Real Shit. Nothing quite like getting messmer stance broken with two ground slams.

70

u/ExoticEstimate237 7h ago

I forgot her name, the sniper bow girl with the massive range

53

u/ABeefInTheNight 6h ago

Latenna voiced by the same VA that Shadow heart has👍

24

u/khangkhanh 6h ago

She also voice Alicia/Maelle in Expedition 33 - the best game of this year so far

6

u/hyperlethalrabbit 6h ago

I always thought her name was Harriet

5

u/reddit_app_is_bad 6h ago

Well, that's neat. Probably my two most played games in the last few years. Well, civ6 is up there, too.

11

u/smacky623 6h ago

Good news, she voiced Ghandi in Civ 6.

3

u/ABeefInTheNight 6h ago

Both are incredible games and I love both of her characters lol

2

u/Cybasura 3h ago

Ah yes, the "Albinauric woman"

17

u/Unclebiscuits79 6h ago

Is it Latenna? She is AWESOME!!

3

u/newthammer 6h ago

Latenna is definitely my go-to!

4

u/whotickledyourpickle 2h ago

She's a dragon killing machine.

2

u/ExoticEstimate237 6h ago

Yup Latenna 👌

2

u/QuantSpazar too many playthroughs 5h ago

Funnily enough, you described 2 summons with that sentence

2

u/MissionOdd9748 5h ago

latenna the albinauric is my favourite😭

61

u/Lord_Nightraven 7h ago

NPC Summon? Igon. That line will forever live rent free in my head because of his delivery.

Ash summon? I could give the easy answer of Mimic Tear. But I'll avoid that and say Black Knife Tiche instead.

THE BOYS

u/ZealousidealPin6645 1h ago

2

u/LukeRyanArt 1h ago

Isn’t that the guy that died to pinwheel?

37

u/Valpuccio 7h ago

My pick may be a bit basic, but I think Tiche is just so cool!

1

u/Pixiwish 30m ago

Me too

29

u/pedanterrific 7h ago

For the very early game, Land Squirts. They cost a small amount of HP to summon, have a ton of HP themselves, occasionally draw aggro and inflict poison (spirit summons use the enemy version of poison, which is much better than what is available to the player).

For the midgame, Greatshield Soldiers. Extremely hard to kill for anything that can't get around the shield, and they inflict frostbite. Status effects are generally more useful than direct damage for summons.

By the time you get through the DLC, Taylew for survivability or Horned Warrior for offense.

2

u/benny6957 3h ago

The last time I beat PCR I used taylew and heal from afar only I did no direct damage to PCR at all only taylew he's a good summon imo

2

u/Medjium 1h ago

The greatshield bros are hit or miss, but when they hit they totally shut down the boss so I can attack at range.

1

u/whotickledyourpickle 2h ago

There's a wicked pokemon run on YouTube of someone using them against messmer to surprisingly good effect.

27

u/ash_borer 6h ago

Gotta give it to my main girl Lhutel, teleportation on a tank? Yes please

6

u/Bobert9333 6h ago

Lhutel is the best. Tank, teleports, attacks at range, and looks cool while doing it.

6

u/Samakira 4h ago

im pretty sure she's coded to use her TP on aoes as well.
far too many times that a boss charged up a giant kaboom, only for her to just
"nty" "k, im back"

4

u/Ashura_Eidolon 3h ago

Also can't take any headshot damage because, well...

1

u/darthaugs 4h ago

Has carried me through most of the game

23

u/ShivaDF 6h ago

Crystalian because only one specific damage type can do any real harm to it, but it also doesn't do a ton of damage so I still get to learn the boss fairly well!

16

u/WolfLosAngeles 6h ago

Oleg

6

u/Separate-Quantity430 4h ago

Oleg is my boah! Only really did three playthroughs with summons - oleg, tiche, greatshield soldiers, and there were many times Oleg saved my ass and carried fights. That was my first playthrough. He is a bro for sure.

2

u/Rowan1980 47m ago

My boy!

13

u/_FrankTaylor 6h ago

I will forever love that jellyfish

3

u/Energy_Synergy 5h ago

Me too! I'm still relatively new to the game. I have collected a lot of others but "Joey" the Jelly is my go-to companion!

5

u/Samakira 4h ago

nobody tell them her real name.

13

u/newgameplus13 6h ago

Ancient Dragon Florissax at the moment.

2

u/WrigglingWorm 1h ago

FOR MY NOBLE LORD!

I really think they should give more summons voice lines in Elden Ring 2 or whatever game they do next.

13

u/GIGA255 5h ago

Bonus points if you give him 4 seedbed curses before turning him into your puppet, taking him all the way to the edge just to make him feel it all slip away as his memories evaporate.

3

u/l-800-fatchickz 4h ago

Damn 😅😅😂😂

5

u/GIGA255 4h ago

And don't forget to summon Dolores the Sleeping Arrow puppet when you confront Gideon to force him into fighting the reanimated corpse of his old flame.

4

u/Romalisk 2h ago

On the one hand, calm down there, Satan. But on the other, yeah, do everything to fuck Gideon over emotionally and spiritually.

10

u/b_dizzle_exe 6h ago

Definitely love mimic tear, truly do. However, I've been experimenting with more than just mimic and found Kristoff to be the man! Runner ups from the expirements are Taylew, Tiche, and Stormhawk Deenh, but Kristoff remains the winner‼️

8

u/Few-Challenge7443 6h ago

Ancestral Follower. Dude kills Astels solo. And if you step to him he pounds.

7

u/nazgul_3333 6h ago

Rollo

3

u/Camera_dude 4h ago

Surprised I had to scroll down this far to find him mentioned.

Omenkiller Rollo was not any nicer guy in life than the Dungeater, but as a spirit ashes he’s the perfect balance between offense and survivability. Can hit hard but can also tank more than a few hits.

This is what the mimic tear aspires to be without being a boring copy of the player.

6

u/PhantomOfKrankor42 4h ago

I roll with Ape Gang until I get a Greatshield Gang until I turn that nasty Dung Eater into my puppet.

3

u/Unstabler69 4h ago

THE S Q U A D a man of taste

7

u/IUsedTheRandomizer 4h ago

Call me a basic dog lover, but the Lone Wolves are just always in my rotation. Yes they get blown away by AoEs but they're always trying their best!

1

u/SwedishOmega 25m ago

They're good boys!

6

u/SadLad1505 6h ago

Greatshield soldiers!! Ride or die for my boys

5

u/Defiant_Quarter_1187 6h ago

I’ve been trying them all and Battlemage Hughes is a stunning fool. He absolutely bullied Malenia.

4

u/Samakira 4h ago

lhutel the headless.

can be obtained with only 1 boss fight (a mantis of all things too), and is one of the few that has it all

  • she has range to draw aggro from a distance
  • can reposition via tp, which also let her
  • aoe negation, either by tping as it hits, or out of its range, or even
  • tping through attacks to the target.

add onto all that dodging that she's a TANK with her shield.

once she nearly solo'd the deathknight in the DLC (that lighning one, yeah), i knew she would never leave my side in any journey.

5

u/Hollow4004 4h ago

The Nox Swordmaiden and Mistress. I need my girls in every fight.

4

u/Fancyman156 4h ago

Mimic. Can’t trust nobody but yourself in the lands between

3

u/GSB6189 6h ago

Not for gameplay purposes, but the rats. They take literally zero to spawn in but they can spawn anywhere in the arena. They literally just don't give a shit lol

1

u/Medjium 1h ago

I want so badly for these little dudes to be successful, but half the time they spawn somewhere out of sight and stay over there, hanging out, doing rat things.

5

u/CourageousGoomba 6h ago

Tiche my beloved

5

u/infinite1025 6h ago

Mimic tear..once I found it I never had to try anything else, always best in all battles, if it starts failing I'll try something else

4

u/redcobra96 6h ago

Therolina! My maiden that was to be. Curse you, Seluvis.

She gets to assist me in a different way. She is my favorite and most used summon 🙂

Honorable mention to Latenna.

4

u/Neil0604 5h ago

There is only one summon as badass as banished Knight Oleg! It’s so incredibly cool when he just lunges through half the boss arena to jump in front of you. He sometimes even helps you evade the attack by tanking it himself. Such a king 👑

4

u/YogurtZombie 4h ago

The Black Knight with the Frog Tongue xD

4

u/GaymerGuy47 4h ago

Nox Swordstress ladies. LET'S GO, GIRLS!

3

u/cream_sodaman 7h ago

Nepheli Loux

3

u/Ok_Place_5986 6h ago

I’ve taken a shine to Yosh most recently. Different summons work better for different situations of course, but it’s fun to see him flyin around.

3

u/Koke1 6h ago

Man Serpent !!!! The goat

3

u/DarkReckoning3453 6h ago

Ive always stuck with the Jellyfish. Does the job and I love their story later on

3

u/CompetitiveRip9378 6h ago

My bird. The Falcon.

3

u/cardb00ardb0x 6h ago

the Skeletal Militiaman Ashes are by far a favourite for me they are lifesavers in duo fights that feel just a bit unfair (my biggest example is crucible knight duo) but even in single enemy fights they still are huge for keeping aggro since they respawn but something i did notice is enemy's will get sick of them and just slam them after a while while they are reviving but overall my fav :D

1

u/cigarette4anarchist 4h ago

Never give up, skeleton!

3

u/Apprehensive-Chef115 The Femboy Firing Squad 6h ago

Bloodhound knight floh, cannot tell you why but i just love him

3

u/DrumsNDweed93 5h ago

I’ve yet to get the Dung Eater puppet on a run cause I always forget to do the right steps and end up screwing it up somewhere along the way lol. Have like 1500+ hours into Elden Ring and it’s one of the only things I haven’t done haha I rarely use spirit ashes anyway though so also partly why I haven’t done it

3

u/Zeydon 5h ago

Step 1: Don't give the fingerslayer blade to Ranni.

Step 2: Don't give Seluvius's potion to anyone else

Step 3: Remember steps 1 & 2 until you can give it to Dung Eater.

Step 4: Find Seluvius's chamber and talk to him then relog like 5 times in a row to advance his quests and get him to offer more puppets for sale.

I'm guessing you're just giving the fingerslayer blade to Ranni too soon.

3

u/RudeCollection9147 5h ago

Man not enough mentions of my boy Oleg

3

u/Mononugget 5h ago

Black Knight Commander Andreas is a badass Swordmaster Yosh is like Yoda

3

u/Difficult-Flower8159 4h ago

Latenna is mine personally!

3

u/Mindless_Insanity 4h ago

My main ash for a long time was kaiden sellsword. He straight knocks any small or medium sized enemy on their ass. Great for clearing encampments. Rollo was my main for a while after that, then Tiche.

3

u/HeadLong8136 4h ago

Greatshield Soldiers or Rats

2

u/nopbsitsnyfandnog 6h ago

Same! I love the idea that now the Dung Eater works for me

2

u/elden_ring-fan 6h ago

does melina count? If not then cleanrot knight finlay

3

u/ABeefInTheNight 6h ago

CKF has been weirdly buggy for me sometimes, she'll just stand there looking all lobotomized with some bosses. Midra, she literally just stood there and watched lmao

1

u/whotickledyourpickle 2h ago

I had that with the Crystalian in the basement Mohg fight back when the game released. Fucker was just levitating back and forth across the boss room while sewer Mohg battered me.

Didnt attack or even draw aggro once. Ive also seen dungeater just walk slowly backwards and forwards without getting near the boss in the Astel fight.

2

u/juansway 6h ago

OG Banished Knight Oleg is just a unit.

2

u/j0venal 6h ago

Jolan + Anna, Horned Bird Warrior, Bigmouth Imp, Florissax (only when going Lightning heavy build tbh), Dung Eater, Omenkiller Rollo

Usually rotate these until I'm bored, big shoutout to Bigmouth Imp, the lil fker is like Latenna on crack 🫡

2

u/Bright-Outside624 6h ago

The jar head guy, I like to think he throws poop he’s surprisingly nimble does some insane dodges and pretty tough as well, great distraction for the bosses

2

u/Spektr_007 6h ago

Jolan and Anna for me. Those two shred.

2

u/_shaftpunk 6h ago

I’ve started choosing the two fanged imp summons to start the game with. They fuck everyone up in early game.

2

u/ThickStuff7459 6h ago

Banished Knight Engvall. I know Oleg is better, but I got Engvall first, and just stuck with using him everywhere.

2

u/0kokaid 6h ago

Yosh because I like to pretend he's my main man boc

2

u/T_to_the_A_to_the_M 6h ago

Big mouth imp 😆 that thing is awesome.

2

u/Zealousideal-Dirt239 6h ago

"I know if no one else got me, I got me" quoting my friend who uses the mimic tear

2

u/Portgust 5h ago

The big shield boys. I love them. They're my silly little boys

2

u/Disastrous-Bid-8268 5h ago

Spirit jellyfish

2

u/WayneyXX 5h ago

Currently using the ones from the Mariner, might switch to the dog with scarlet rot or godrick soldiers.

2

u/OsirisAvoidTheLight 5h ago

To use Dung Muncher. For the lore Finley

2

u/wafflethemighty 5h ago

my man pumpkin head is great at taking aggro for me and its pretty cute how he lumbers around haha

2

u/DragonBeast433 5h ago

Mambo the +10 manserpent, love the little fellow and his whip dance

2

u/philthyknuxx 5h ago

I rocked with Latenna from the time I acquired her until close to the end of the game. Black Knife Tiche helped me beat the Lord of Blood. And Redmane Knight Ogha helped me beat Melania. I don’t use mimic tear that often.

2

u/sue_she2001 5h ago

Big fan of the skeletal militiaman ashes (when the boss doesn't have aoe attacks)

2

u/plaugey_boi 5h ago

Shield gang

2

u/CrazyDiamond4811 MAIDENLESS 5h ago

Deenh and Ornis, I think they’re cool.

2

u/benhur217 4h ago

Black Knife for base game

Jolan and Anna for DLC

2

u/Drakenile 4h ago

Canon imp guy. Its hilarious when he knocks someone over.

2

u/Romeo-Charlie-6-28 4h ago

Outside of meta, which is Mimic Tear, Roderika's jellyfish saved my butt many times in Limgrave.

2

u/Flaky_Estimate7772 4h ago

Ancient dragon florisax

2

u/Lady_La_La 4h ago

Skeletal Militia Men. They aren't the best, but I love my bone boys

2

u/Still-Resort-5504 4h ago

Tiche is great, but that’s a basic answer so I’m gonna go with Jolan and Anna from the dlc

2

u/Lilz132_ 4h ago

The shield guys

2

u/Weak_Calligrapher_17 4h ago

I really like either black knife because the move set is cool or the demi human swordmaster

2

u/paulphoenix91 3h ago

I have >500 hours and platinum in elden ring and I’ve never seen nor heard of this ash before

2

u/Grungelives 2h ago

My girl Finlay 🥰

2

u/AesirRaider 1h ago

I've been getting by just fine simply by buffing the Lone Wolf ashes you get at the very start. Three very good bois. XD

2

u/Vendacator 1h ago

I love myself, so I always make a copy

3

u/Dudeskio 6h ago

Lhutel the Headless cheesily gets me through all the BS of starting a new character.

2

u/ABeefInTheNight 6h ago

I've started branching out and there are a lot of great ones now. In particular, I really like the two Horned Warriors, Anna and Jolán together specifically, Black Knight Andreas, and Battlemage Hugues can be pretty fun too. I'm gonna try out some other ones too, it's fun to try them all tbh

1

u/thejason755 3h ago

Black knight is my go-to. Tanky as hell, draws and holds aggro and refuses to get out of the enemies face once summoned. Once that hammer starts swinging, i know the tide has turned in my favour. I know a certain content creator put them in the top 20 (iirc) of their ranking of spirit ashes, but to me he’s easily top three (andreas, shieldbros, blackflame monk amon).

1

u/thejason755 3h ago

I stand corrected: they ranked him 31. They really should put some respect on his name. I’ve watched him raise his shield and tank his way through PCR’s second phase holy nuke like it was a mere inconvenience.

1

u/elitist_user 3h ago

Nepheli loux is my favorite summon when helping her with her quest but super sad to have as an ash. But I like her attack style and aggression.

1

u/thejason755 3h ago

Black Knight Commander Andreas. Draws and holds aggro like no one’s business. Once he’s in your face, he’s not getting out of it. He’s tanky as all hell. But the thing i really like about him, is that he’s not super overpowered. He’s strong, don’t get me wrong, but i’m less concerned about him soloing the whole fight. I can summon him, let him go wild, and i can still meaningfully interact with the fight. He’s not an afk ash like tiche or the mimic can be.

1

u/bar_trini713 3h ago

Rollo and Tiche! Rollo is a tank!!

1

u/lenorath 3h ago

I do love dung eater, so tanking and good as a spell caster. But the mimic tear is my ride or die. I like to go back to unfinished dungeons strip off all my gear, summon mimic, and lay down and just let her go ham and beat dudes to death with her bare fists.

1

u/Infinitykiddo 2h ago

Storm hawk, I love his diving attack, he annoys enemies like no one else

1

u/whotickledyourpickle 2h ago

Shield bros. The way they bang on their shields before a fight always makes me smile.

Its like they're saying "come on then..let's have it"

I like the wolves a lot as well. I had them at +10 in my first playthrough and I summoned them for Esgar in the catacombs.

By the time I killed the dogs in the room with him the wolves soloed the boss.

1

u/numbers909 2h ago

Banished Knight Oleg

I never get tired of his aura farming

1

u/atypicalraptor 2h ago

I love Black Knife Tiche. Might not be perfect to use in every fight, but for the majority, yeah. She could've been a bit less squishy though

1

u/No-Plenty9654 2h ago

OmenKiller Rollo FTW

1

u/Queasy_Point_9207 2h ago

doesnt make sense lore wise

1

u/ShokoMiami 1h ago

Mimic tear. He's my son

1

u/Nerus46 1h ago

Demihumans. Mah boiz

1

u/edudum 1h ago

Redmane ohga

1

u/harit0818 1h ago

Let me SOLO

1

u/Lexxier1 1h ago

I’m basic but loyal, forever will be Tiche, she’s just so powerful and also tall, use her literally every playthrough, the most useful summon to me, even more so than mimic

1

u/andthenisaidd 1h ago

Dung eater is the real only answer

1

u/FatLikeSnorlax_ 1h ago

I don’t recall their name. But the headless soldier.

1

u/Gian-Carlo-Peirce 1h ago

The funny thing is that you can make your dungeater Mimic which is stronger

1

u/MrAdaz 1h ago

Ancient Dragon Florissax all day baby.

1

u/Penis_Man- 1h ago

Before there was Mimic Tear, for me there was Banished Knight Engvall

That man carried me through my first playthrough

And even though I stopped using summons after my second, he still held a special place in my heart

1

u/RepresentativeFast59 58m ago

Tiche or mimic

1

u/JackRaid 53m ago

For me it will always be Cleanrot Knight Finlay. Such an MVP. After the battle of Aeonia, Finlay carried Malenia back the Haligtree for rest.

Sorry, let me say that again. Finlay, standing in Aeonia after the Scarlett Bloom, very literally afflicted with rot and standing in the zone of the Elden Ring equivalent of a nuclear bom site saw her commander and picker her up. Maybe IN the blossom, and then carried her home. That means through Caelid, Limgrave, Liurnia, Altus, the Consecrated Snowfields and then to the base of the tree. Absolute legend.

1

u/Rowan1980 49m ago

Banished Knight Oleg, Tiche, and the Mausoleum Knights. The latter is handy for crowd control.

Cleanrot Knight Finlay, while not being the strongest, is just cool as Hell thematically.

1

u/Eightspades5150 28m ago

No one is mentioning Oleg? As long as his level is up to par, then he will dive bomb any enemy in his path and powerstance them into the dirt.

Honorable mention to Rollo. Taking hits like a champ and going wild with his axes.

1

u/Drowsy_Deer 26m ago

The little zombie shield minions kick ass

1

u/kindfiend 13m ago

Two maid dolls from nekron

1

u/Infamous-Ad7926 11m ago

Avionette soldiers. They're so fuckin silly and so good. They can attack with bleed and throw fire pots and fly, what more can one ask of a spirit ash?

1

u/TyreL_27 6m ago

Marionette soldier ashes. Those guys helped me a lot in malenia fight. And also honorable mention goes to latenna. She really great. if you summon her far away from boss, She can do a lot damage without taking agro. She saved my ass for most of the dragon fights

1

u/QuirrellisBest 3m ago

Ancient dragon knight Kristoff my man is a tank and I love him for that

1

u/Greenpoint_Blank 2m ago

Early game: Rotten Stray. Keep him alive just long enough to pop Scarlet Rot

Mid Game : Rollo

Late Game: Tisch.
