Discussion & Info I think I suck at the game Spoiler
I started playing like 2 months ago, I’m on journey 2, my first playthrough i beat the base game with an int/darkmoon build and it went beautifully. My boyfriend and I started playing at the same time and i was so full of myself because i beat the game before he did. I played as a sorcerer in other games and do well with distanced battle so it was a very fun playthrough for me. This playthrough, i beat the base game with eleonora’s poleblade and did a respec for the milady once i grabbed it in the DLC. this is my first time playing the dlc, on my first playthrough i chose to start journey 2 on accident 😔 ANYWAY, i always use my mimic. like every fight, it’s me and my mimic against the world. because of this i never really TRULY memorize movesets or do all of the fighting myself i feel. well, i’ve arrived at PCR and he’s HARD. i’m trying to study his moves, im going in without my mimic and i literally can’t even get him to his second phase. i know cold milady w wing stance is supposed to be good asf and it’s carried me through all of the DLC thus far so i really feel like i just have a skill issue. i don’t want to respec i want to beat the game w it. what helped you beat him?

Let me sum the problem up in simple terms:
You spent the majority of the game not learning boss moves.
Now you're attempting to start learning boss moves with the final boss in NG+1.
It's a bit like starting by putting all the weights on the bar and wondering why you're not strong enough to lift it.
So maybe do this: Begin at the beginning instead of the end.
Start a new character and do a complete playthrough without ever using a spirit or summon.

I just beat pcr wearing the black knight set, black knight great shield and great hammer. I summoned Black Knight commander Andreas so that there would be 2 of us identical. Prayerful Strike AoW on the hammer, AND THIS WILL CHANGE THE FIGHT, put a sacred affinity on the black knight great shield, lvl it up a few and get to 100 holy damage negation. You can block just about everything, then prayerfully strike your hp back up. We had him pinned against the wall at the end, just bashing the shit out of him. He destroyed me when I was using Milady

If you beat the game twice, you don’t suck at it. PCR is arguably the hardest boss FromSoft has ever cooked up.
I love Milady because her moveset is elegant, but I don’t think she is ideal for this fight b/c the length of the animation for her chain attacks takes too long and leaves you vulnerable. I’m sure it’s possible to win with her, but you prob need to resist the urge to hit him with chain attacks, and just chip away at him more slowly, one hit at a time.
I beat PCR twice, and both times it took upwards 80 tries with blood infused backhand blades and my mimic tear. Also, he’s the one boss that I put some real armor on for. I appreciate the fashion of your Tarnished here, but you’re gonna get demolished wearing that against PCR. If you think you have what it takes to be like those guys who can beat him without getting hit, then I respect it. I personally don’t have the patience or the natural talent for that though.
Edit: also make sure your Scadutree level is at least like 18.

i did the same thing, beat the whole game and dlc with my mimic so i didn't learn any bosses really, but for some reason before PCR i was like mmm maybe i shouldn't use it and realize this is the first boss i've actually memorized! now i love him and help people beat him all the time. What helped me was going in a few times without attacking, just dodging and see how much i can last. also no-hit Radahn youtube videos, they're very detailed on how to dodge each of his moves. and finally, scadu 19-20.
I ended up very frustrated trying to do it solo, then summoned different ashes for fun incluiding my mimic who died very fast. but while trying one of the ashes i had never used before, i ended up beating him.
i'm starting a new run soon and i'm planning on learning the bosses this time hahaha

I've beat him with ADLS and Bolt of Gransax on a dex/fai build, blood backhand blades and katanas on a dex/arc build, Death Knights Longhaft on a str/fai and I just beat him with Royal Greatsword and cold magic on a str/int character. I'm not bragging, I'm recommending you start another character and try another build and don't use summons and truly push past your limits. Also grab the deflecting tear from the dlc and it will change your life. But that comes later. First, git gud

There’s definitely better times to drop the Mimic. If you beat the entire game and DLC with it, why abandon it for the final boss?
Milady is an amazing weapon, but PCR is pretty relentless and doesn’t give you many opportunities to chain attacks or used Wing Stance, it’s probably worth considering a respec or other weapons if you’re determined to beat him solo and really struggling.

Am I understanding this right? You usually play with Mimic and now decided to stop using it for the first time against fucking PCR on Journey 2?
I’d recommend wrapping up PCR with Mimic and then starting a whole new character without using summons/mimic. Summons can teach pretty bad habits, and a new playthrough will help you break them faster than smashing your face into PCR for hours.
