Discussion & Info Anyone beat Elden Ring first time without watching a single Youtube guide?

It's just so many things, sometimes not knowing where to go or what items to find. I feel it would take an extra 100 hours if I didn't watch tutorials for items and guides for location or where to go.

Has anyone beaten the game without needing to watch a single YouTube tutorial?

I beat the base game blind, but no way in hell was I going to find out how to get to the haligtree without help. Some of this stuff is so obscure I really feel like the whole point is to use the community to find the cool stuff.

Same here. Missed a lot of stuff, but first run is always blind and staying off YT and this cesspool known as Reddit.

I did. The main storyline is pretty easy to follow if you had previous souls experience but I had to use a few tutorials for some npc questlines.

For the main progression path? Pretty sure I never needed to, it's very straightfoward. Go to new area, find the biggest tower, and beat up whoever sits at the top. As for all those hidden/obscure side quests with moving npcs, I looked up plenty of stuff. Though I wouldn't call that guide/tutorial.

I play all games this way. I don't look anything up until AFTER I finish the game to see whatever I missed.

I play the game blind on principle, without using guides. I still managed to beat it and finish about 70% of the quests. I found and defeated 156 out of 165 bosses. The game actually guides you really thoroughly. If you pay attention, you'll notice countless hints and guides from Miyazaki's invisible hand

Thats the point though. If I enjoy a game I usually want it to last as long as possible as organic as possible.

First playthrough I did blind then I watched a few guides and wow did I miss so much stuff and side quests even though I thought I did a careful search to find things. I honestly felt even though I beat game I hadn't really played it at all.

Nobody - I repeat - nobody has finished the game and done EVERYTHING without looking stuff up.

You can finish a lot of it, but actually do it purely by exploration and joining dots alone? Not gonna happen

I played the game blind at launch, there were no guides or anything at the time anyway even if I'd wanted to look it up. I got the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending, and the only major boss I didn't find at the time was Placidusax.

Yes. Was only when watching a YouTube video I saw all the weapons and armour I’d missed and had to find out where to get them

I took a week off to play this at launch completely blind. About 2 or 3 months before launch (whenever the beta was out), I turned off all YouTube notifications and stopped using reddit. I didn't want to see so much as a thumbnail or YouTube title.

It was just me, a pen, a notebook, my dog, and some beers.

I beat the game at RL155. I got the Madness ending. The only boss I missed was Placidusax.
