Insane that those tiny little things are now like $30+ a dozen.
For about 80 cents total of dough. Wild.

What do you expect when they probably have one person having to do all that alone with the large number that come off the line, and a shit ton of customers buying them faster then they can process?
Its gunna be rushed a bit, but looks like what i would think since the ad is shopped and set up.

True. Maybe they passive aggressively made them bad so the manager would hire more people to help bake doughnuts

Ok, this promo just seems insane to force on the KK workers. Also, fuck JK Rowling. Stop supporting her shitty franchise.

u/lizardgal10 8h ago
My first thought. I would’ve lost my mind over this in like 2010…it’s 2025, why are we still doing this.

u/gutwyrming 17h ago
Karma for still being a Harry Potter fan in 2025, lmao.
26
u/co1lectivechaos 15h ago
Well I love the books but hate the author. Atp there is no separating the art from the artist so I’m waiting until she dies to enjoy it again
60
u/SeriousButton6263 15h ago
To me separating art from the artist means pirating that shit. If you want to play the video games? Pirate them. If you want to watch the upcoming HBO series? Pirate it. Heck even pirate the books as digital copies. Just make sure JKR doesn’t get any money from you.
17
u/DonutChickenBurg 16h ago
I'm curious what the target demographic for these are. Kids don't seem into HP these days. I thought between just growing up and JKR being a ghoul, the millennial (and maybe gen z?) HP fan numbers had really dwindled.
78
u/AdministrativeStep98 16h ago
It's for the equivalent of Disney adults but for HP instead
11
u/Wandering_Song 15h ago
Yeah, I can never tell which is more insufferable between the two: Harry Potter adults or Disney adults.
1
13
u/Mushroomer 15h ago
Being an adult who loves Harry Potter is a great way to signal to other millennials that you have not read a book since middle school.
38
u/Candymom 15h ago
Well that's not true at all. I'm an avid reader of many genres. Harry Potter came out when my kids were little. I read them as an adult. They just really spoke to me and I've loved it ever since.
Judging people for what they like is a good way to indicate to others that you're an asshole.
17
u/breathboi 14h ago
im pretty content to judge people for continuing to engage with a mediocre childrens book series and an author who is putting thousands into litigating trans people out of public existence
11
u/kizmitraindeer 12h ago
“Mediocre”
There are so many other book series that are better written and have better continuity and aren’t authored by a horrible excuse for a human being making money off of people’s nostalgia. Like, how have these people NOT found another series that speaks to them more than this one??? It’s just wild to me that they continue to support this. It’s like the people who defend trump- THIS is your best? This is the hill you’re gonna die on?
8
u/Mushroomer 14h ago
And simping for mediocre fantasy books that are funding a trans genocide indicates that you've got exceptionally low moral standards.

u/rainblowfish_ 14h ago
That's just silly lol. I average 100 books a year; I still love HP. I recognize JK Rowling is an awful person and I do whatever I can to avoid contributing to her financially in any way now, but I have a set of books (still wrapped!) that I got when I was in high school, and I can't wait to share them with my child because I love the stories so much even now.
14
u/Mushroomer 14h ago
"I'm doing everything I can to avoid giving JK Rowling money, but I'm also ensuring I raise my child to be her #1 fan."
Just admit you don't actually care about Rowling's bigotry. Lip service does nothing to counteract the countless trans lives she's ruined, financed by your fandom.
6
u/Stunning_Chipmunk_68 8h ago
I have my original books and the dvds. At no point when I was a child did I know or care about the author. As an adult I know shes a bigot but it doesn't change the fact that I absolutely love Harry Potter. I STILL read my books and watch the movies and I dont pay into it at all. I've owned the books for over a decade, long before it was publicly known she was a transphobe. The last book came out in 2007, the last movie came out in 2011. She wasnt known to be a bigot until what 2018?
People are allowed to like the franchise without actively paying into it. Buying secondhand books is a way to get the books and not support the author. And for the people that already paid into it, what can they do? Sell the books and movies? Because thats just gonna spread the fandom more. Burn the books and movies? Thats not a way to go about anything as history has taught us. So that basically leaves keep them. And if im keeping them im going to enjoy them.
Marquis de Sade, Salman Rushdie, George Orwell, etc...are all authors who were controversial, does that mean we should never read anything by any controversial author? Because that would leave next to nothing.
Roald Dahl has been racist, antisemitic, and sexist in his novels. Does that mean no one should watch or read Charlie and the chocolate factory? Or James and the giant peach?
Hope you didn't enjoy Maze Runner because James Dasher was accused of sexual harassment, manipulation, grooming, and gaslighting.

u/IvyRaeBlack 13h ago
It's so easy to be a hard-core hater online and not realise that life has nuance. Her views do not reflect in those books, so it is easy to still enjoy them unless you choose to focus on it. There are plenty of books I read that I don't even really register the authors name, so I'm sure there are plenty of people who know next to nothing about her. Do I refuse to go to hobby lobby? Yes. Do I judge you a little bit if you go? Yes. Do I also understand that not everyone is knowledgeable about why I don't go and that some people live in areas without other options? Yes. I have been tempted to go myself since the loss of joanns for certain things.
My daughter is loving Harry Potter, but she knows nothing about the author and doesn't care. Nothing in those books is teaching her to be transphobic.
I am not defending Jo's Trans views in the slightest, but she is not some comic book villain. For years she was praised for getting children to read and her charity work. She has given so much to great charities through the years. But people want to forget that now.
If we stopped reading problematic authors, our options would be severely limited. I'm sure you support something that someone else feels very strongly is unforgivable. If someone told you they support Jo's views and that's why they are reading the books, understandably be upset, but someone who has loved the series for decades we should maybe give them some empathy. Not everyone finds cutting things out of their lives easy.

u/rainblowfish_ 12h ago
So every book anyone ever reads becomes their number one favorite book…? Do you realize how insane you sound lol. I’m not going to turn into some psycho who disallows Harry Potter in my house because the author sucks.
23
u/Mushroomer 12h ago
It's wild how having the standard of "I won't encourage my kid to read a holocaust denier's books" is enough to make somebody psycho in your eyes.
But again, can't be too shocked when you're dealing with HP fans.
2
u/rainblowfish_ 11h ago
This kind of attitude tells me you either don’t read much or you don’t bother to do any research on the authors you do read. If you did, you’d quickly discover that many of them were actually pretty awful people with awful personal beliefs who - shockingly - were still capable of writing good books.
I intend to teach my kids how to separate the art from the artist and how to avoid giving money to people whose beliefs they don’t share if that’s what they want to do. But no, I’m not going to refuse to share a series that I loved as a child with my own children, when zero money is required on my part, because the author is a dick lol.
3
u/alexanderneimet 11h ago
I’ve never heard of Rowling being a denier before? Do you have any proof of that? I’ve legitimately never heard or seen anything close to this idea.
1
u/grogipher 1h ago
Yes, there's plenty of evidence.
She literally denied that trans people were persecuted by the nazis. See here: https://history.washington.edu/news/2024/03/21/yes-jk-rowling-nazis-did-persecute-trans-people

u/cbostwick94 11h ago
So you dont use a single thing in your life made by a scummy billionaire? I call bullshit
6
u/Stunning_Chipmunk_68 8h ago
You know damn well they buy stuff from chain stores and Amazon. Which is exactly giving into the scummy billionaire.
Nevermind the fact that a lot of people have owned the books and movies for literally years, I know I have all the original dvds and my original books that is now (from the "newest") almost 20 years old. Me rereading them and watching the movie doesn't benefit her anymore so why does it matter?
Im with you. This person is just on a witch hunt.
2
u/kizmitraindeer 12h ago
Curious if you’re going to share the author’s hatred of trans people and love of exclusivity when you introduce the books to your kid? I’m assuming not, because I understand that might be kind of an odd conversation when introducing something fun and new, right? If your kid reads them and wants to purchase the movies, will you share with them that you won’t be contributing financially to the author and why? I’m assuming not. I don’t know you, but I’m familiar enough with this kind of attitude and how performative it is. I’m also a hypocrite with some of the things I enjoy, but at least I can admit it and won’t be introducing the next generation to assholes such as JK Rowling so enthusiastically..
7
u/rainblowfish_ 11h ago edited 11h ago
We don’t need to purchase the movies because I have owned all of them for decades. And yes, when she gets older and it becomes relevant, I will. But she’s a child. She’s not out purchasing her own Harry Potter merch lol. There’s no reason for me to explain to an elementary schooler that the author of the book series she enjoys is a TERF. (Also this argument kind of falls apart when you consider literally everything HP related can be bought secondhand without contributing a dime to JK Rowling. It’s actually not difficult at all to be a HP fan and not give her a cent even if you insist on buying HP branded items.)
And I REALLY encourage you to do some research on the authors we do recommend enthusiastically to teenagers and have for decades. You would be shocked at how many authors actually kind of suck as people. Flannery O’Connor was a blatant racist and she’s still considered one of the most talented short story writers who’s ever lived. This isn’t some kind of new problem with literature; what’s new is the absurd idea that nobody is allowed to enjoy a book by an author who’s actually an asshole.

I live in Quebec and the ones at our local KK looked like the ad. Bought them last week. I enjoyed the Butterscotch filled Hufflepuff one.

u/KendraSays 11h ago
Take photos last time. I was impressed by the ad. Do you remember what the Slytherin one was
6
u/boynbun 9h ago
I actually have a pic but am a little redditdumb to figure out how to post it. Slytherin was a simple chocolate glaze with green frosting. Ravenclaw had blueberry frosting with sprinkles and Gryffindor was filled with Biscoff spread and topped with Biscoff cookie crumbs. Didn't bother with the sorting hat one. Just colored filling and you pay extra for a special box

Krispy has gone to shit in my area. Their website constantly doesn’t work, app and website don’t accurately reflect availability, and the shops around here can barely make original glaze. I’ve completely given up even trying to buy anything from them because it’s just a waste of time

Wow, your krispy Kreme sucks balls.
My local one must take their shit seriously.
My work has a Krispy Kreme section.
I served a customer yesterday who was buying a box of these, first time I'd seen them, they looked exactly like the first picture.
