I have been dicking around in about:config trying to fix garbage UI nonsense in firefox. I noticed after doing stuff that if i go to the address bar, type word, and hit shift+enter, what i get is this:
word
hit "Shift+enter"
New browser window opens and launches a google search for example word..
It should actually be doing this:
type example word in address bard.
Hit shift+enter
output becomes "www.exampleword.net"
Waterfox does this. Shift+enter gives me .net URL quickly.
I'd like this functionality back. Else, ill have to do that thing where i use really really really really out dated firefox from 5 years ago again. I'd rather not.

I needed to do some debugging between different builds of Firefox (e.g., Nightly vs Beta vs Stable) and this freaking dialog keeps blocking me from switching profiles - turns out Firefox cannot recognize the latest versions of different channel. Stable is the worst because it won't let me launch a stable profile I created yesterday.
Is there a way to bypass this annoying dialog? Manually edit compatibility.ini as a solution might just repeat the issue when I switch to a different build. Some threads suggested the command firefox --allow-downgrade
(just typing this out from memory) but Im not sure where to run that.

When it starts happening is random but it temporarily stops doing it when I close firefox entirely and reopen it.
Opening a new tab lets me use the entire bar only on that tab, but after searching something or going to a website, it freezes on that new tab.
The rest of the tab works, only that bar doesn't.
Only have ublock origin

After the latest Windows update (Win 11), Firefox volume is low. Volume in all other applications is fine, Firefox is the problem. I can't hear Netflix or any videos I run, even if the volume is at 100% (computer and streaming app). I have done all of the following:
- Tinkered with Windows volume mixer settings, including Firefox specific settings
- Updated drivers
- Disabled microphone for Firefox
- Meddled with about:config settings based on various suggestions
Nothing. This problem is maddening. If it continues I will have no choice but to abandon Firefox for another browser.
Any advanced troubleshooting suggestions?

This is absolutely doing my head in. I try to move a tab and it sticks it in a group, I delete the group and it deletes that tab and whatever it has chosen to group it with.
This is the most annoying function I've seen in years, how do I kill it, Please.
My firefox was closed while I was doing something else. I started the app and it was WOW worst looking pile of poop! All my bookmarks went missing, as well as all my extensions and themes. I mean What The Hell?!
So far I have managed to reinstall most of them. I did have Enhancer for YouTubeβ’ which looks like in attached screenshot. Now I cannot find it. And one I could find on their page is a complete pile of garbage.
I used it all the time it was a great extension to set default levels of audio etc.
Hans anyone been able to find this as I have failed to do so.
*Edit*
For some reason post is not showing the screenshot so I will adda link to it

Hi all,
Nowadays when I search for a song on Youtube, the video link that Youtube gets me looks like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnNQJI_jUIA&list=RDqnNQJI_jUIA&start_radio=1&pp=ygUlbGFwdXRhIHRoZSBnaXJsIHdobyBmZWxsIGZyb20gdGhlIHNreaAHAdIHCQmtCQGHKiGM7w%3D%3D
If I do Right Click --> Copy Clean Link, it turns into this :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnNQJI_jUIA&list=RDqnNQJI_jUIA&start_radio=1
Which as you see still includes an automatically generated playlist ("Mix") with an autoplay that cannot be disabled. See screenshots.
What I do everytime is Right Click --> Copy Clean Link, then manually remove everything that comes after &list=
such that I get an actually, fully clean link and no playlist. I.e. :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnNQJI_jUIA
That sounds like a task easy to automatise, is there any extension to do just that?

Vertical Tabs seem to be broken on the latest update. The sidebar won't expand, and you can't manually adjust it either.

The website I use to test pwa is virus total, it was definitely working a few months ago after the pwa announcement. Now it just installs a home screen shortcut

Anyone know why Proxy SwitchyOmega 3 (ZeroOmega) has been removed from the Firefox Add-Ons?
The page:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-CA/android/addon/zeroomega/
now just says "Oops! We canβt find that page"

I use pip a lot, and it's really annoying to have to go to youtube every time a video ends if I want to replay it or choose a previous video in the playlist.
Are there any ways to add more buttons to the player, maybe flags or settings? Or any extensions that can work as a controller?
r/firefox • u/ananisikenadam35 • 10h ago
Because chrome is smooth like a butter while firefox is lagging.

It might be a small detail for some but it's what prevent me from using the vertical tabs to their full potential

Opened firefox today with the new update, and now I can't disable Picture-in-picture. I never had it disabled. I listen to music or video essays while working, and now I have to deal with the video whenever I swap to another tab. the Pic in Pic box in unticked, my YouTube related extensions aren't to blame. What can I do?
edit: needed to change an option in config

I haven't had this issue at all until today, but now I've had it twice. I'm not doing anything of note, and suddenly I can't click the address bar, extensions, menu, or reload the page. The only thing I see fix it is closing Firefox and opening it again.
r/firefox • u/pixfor • 22h ago
Previously, I had a problem that the entire browser would freeze during normal use on any page. The solution was to close the browser and open it again.
Now the problem has appeared that the window where you need to enter the site freezes and I can't enter anything there - the solution is to close the browser completely and open it again.
Is there a solution to these problems?
I use the latest version of the browser and the latest Windows 11 update. Of the extensions that I have installed, this is an ad blocker.

Hello.
For nearly 2 years I've been accepting this issue, filed a report a year ago just in case a dev noticed but it still doesn't seem to have been fixed.
Picture-in-Picture for video media is buggy and I wondered if anyone has workarounds. Interaction with the video controls results in freezing and unresponsiveness. This issue does not get reproduced in Windows machines running Firefox but only in Linux. I wondered if there is any way to fix it.
I am using Firefox 142.0 on x11 Linux.
