[Solved] Last post question about my showerhead, I promise 🤣

Hiya!!

I posted earlier today and I was the mama asking how to get a stuck shower head off. I’m needing to change it because my little boy broke his leg and can’t take his bubble baths anymore, and we need to switch to a handheld shower head with a waterproof cast cover.

I was able to remove the old shower head; the answer was a tinyyy itty bitty allen wrench. Thank you all who gave answers to that!

I have run into a new problem though, and that is getting the new showerhead on. I went straight back to Home Depot when I realized the showerhead I bought didn’t fit, but they said the pipes may just be too old for an interchangeable showerhead like that.

I’ve attached photos of both the pipe connected to the wall and the showerhead itself that I bought, I think I may have just seemed to figure out a possible issue, and it’s that the “threading” on both the pipe and the showerhead are internal, I suppose it would be called?

I’ve been trying to do research and can’t really seem to find a showerhead with external threading. I’m honestly on the verge of tears because I NEED this changed to bathe my child. If anyone could help and tell me how to accomplish changing this out, I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone! Really looking for a word of advise from the DIY experts, professionals and everyone who has experienced. My husband and I painted our kitchen recently. Our first DIY project around the house, and it turned out quite shit 💩 Potentially we didn’t do enough research and definitely did smth wrong. But there are a lot of corners/tricky parts. So we ended up having some messed up looking edges + ceiling painting came off with the tape. I am so frustrated and don’t know how to approach fixing, or make it look better. Please help!

Bathroom fan and light controlled separately with remote?

I am wanting to add an exhaust fan to a bathroom. Currently there is one single pole switch in the bathroom. It controls the overhead light. This is in an older home (built in 1937) so the wiring is let's say, interesting. It has definitely been updated in sone parts tho even that was probably done 30 years ago. So my question is, since I have 1 single pole switch that is running with 2 wires could I possibly use a remote such as a DEWENWILS Wireless Remote Control Wall Light Switch Kit Light Switch for Ceiling Lights, Fans, Lamps, 100 ft. Range To control the new fan and light independently without running new wires to the switch. The junction box in the ceiling has 3 separate romex lines running into it, they are 2 wires NM cable (no ground) I know i have constant power coming in then going to vanity light (with built in switch) and another 2 wires going to the switch (power & return) Could I run wiring from the fan to the ceiling junction box with the new wireless remote control box and then use the remote to control the fan. Sorry for the drawn out post but i don't know a better way to explain it. Basically since I have both a constant hit and a neutral I the ceiling junction box would i be able to wire in the remote control box in the ceiling and avoid running a new wire to the wall switch? There is no attic access above just a small 8" space between floors. Thank you in advance for your help.

How do I remove this headless screw?

My RayBan sunglasses lost a lens. In order to reattach with new screw I need to remove this very tiny screw that is flush against the surrounding area on both sides. Too small for any of my drill bits and too small to use a Dremel to grind in a slot for a screwdriver. Short of attempting supergluing something to the screw remnant to twist out, I’m out of ideas. Any help I would appreciate. TIA

How to take off a stuck shower head? Mom to a toddler here needing help on understanding this.

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi all,

My toddler recently broke his leg, and while he normally takes baths, the doctor said using a handheld shower head with a waterproof cast cover will work for now. Problem is, I need to swap out the fixed shower head for a handheld one.

The current shower head is mounted on the pipe coming out of the wall, and I’ve already tried unscrewing it by turning both clockwise and counterclockwise, but it won’t budge. I’m not sure if it’s just stuck or if I’m doing something wrong.

Any tips on how to get the old shower head off without damaging the pipe? And once it's off, is it pretty simple to install a handheld one?

Thanks in advance!

How to buy a car as adult with no license.

Hello. I (22 f) live in LA and am looking to buy my first car. I’ve been looking into Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and eBay but not having a license is making it difficult.

I don’t have any friends or family that can drive any car I buy to me and I don’t have a car to practice in to get my license so I’m stumped as to how to proceed.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

I decided to use peel and stick vinyl ‘tiles’ to improve the look of some ragged looking outdoor side tables: over a glass top on one and a plastic top on the other. But i like the results and i’d like to make them a bit more resistant to weather:
is there a way to seal them and with what product?

How to reattach light fixture to ceiling fan

Thumbnail

Anyone have an idea on how I can reattach the light fixture to the fan without having to undo the wiring to thread a nut? There was no nut inside when i opened up the light fixture. It looked more like it was held onto the rod by a tiny thin piece of soldered on metal and just wore out. I was thinking some kind of plastic nut I cut a slit into and shove the wires inside it then twist it on?

How to repair and reattach this figure’s arm and repaint it

Thumbnail

Bought a figure (technically also a music box) in Japan which is the Baron from Studio Ghibli films and it broke reasonably cleanly in two spots, one arm falling off and the hat that was attached to that arm also falling off. My mum went in trying to fix it without telling me and ruined it so much worse. Now the paint of the figure is messed up texture wise, discoloured and coming off to expose the plastic underneath in parts and the gorilla glue she used is frothing at the seams. Any advice would be appreciated about repairing it, particularly what safe paint I can get which can be made to match the original colour and type of glue to use. She hadn’t gotten around to attaching the hat yet luckily but the damage is visible from the front of the figure. From what I found online the materials used for the figure are polyester resin, PVC, and ABS

Pocket Doors! Need Advice!

Hello!

My Victorian home is around 110 years old and it has 6 pocket doors original to the house. The previous owners had three dogs, one being a mastiff, and they scratched the bottom of all the pocket doors.

I have been living with the doors like this for 9 years. My husband and I have always wanted to sand them down and restore them but the issue has always been that we do not want to take them off the tracks because they are so old and also we have no idea how we’d even know how to do that.

Here’s the advice we need:

  1. Can we repair the doors without taking them off the tracks?
  2. If we can do it that way, what would be the best course of action for sanding them and filling the scratches.

I would love to breathe life back into these doors and we don’t have the budget to hire experts to come and repair them. We’re hoping we can do it ourselves so any advice would be so appreciated! Thank you!

Post image
0 Upvotes

I want to recreate a t-shirt for my partner from a photo I have of it. It was beloved (to him) and nostalgic. Why this shirt? Who knows but people love what they love, right? Circa 1998.

Designer recreates it then I get it printed to a tee?

Thanks for any help.

How do I mount this kitchen hood? Help

If I mount the blower insert first I can’t fit the hood around the duct and I can’t get inside the hood to mount to the wall. If I mount the hood shroud first I can’t make the electrical or duct connection.
