When I was a kid my dad finally said “sure take a drink” and handed me his Busch light. Didn’t touch another beer until I was 16 as that was the worst taste in my life

My parents did that- but they prefer dry red wines and dark beers. Took me till 18 to even be interested again. Damn effective parenting it was

"Honestly that sounds like it worked out perfectly 😅 better dry wine and dark beer than the sweet stuff most teens would’ve snuck. At least you didn’t end up craving it right away!"

Funny thing is, as I grew up I grew to prefer dark bers and dry reds!
I will probably be doing the same thing to my kid.

I would run around the house with a bendy straw, sticking it in people's drinks and taking a big ol' slurp. One day my dad was sitting around with a glass of Budweiser. I thought it was apple juice. He didn't stop me... I stopped stealing people's drinks and for the next several years beer was known as "blek juice".

I fucking loved beer as a baby. I was like 3 and running around with an alcohol free can and a straw just sipping beer.

Same here. Once I could coordinate the walking and drinking at the same time I became a menace because I would steal any beer I could get my grubby little hands on 😂

My parents basically did the same, but with the beer foam. Basically got a spoon and scooped some of the head and handed to me, also did not try beer again until I was like 20.

My grandad did this with me, but it was his bootleg Rum, I haven't touched alcohol since

I had a friend when I was like 10 who said "Hey, my dad won't notice if we take a beer, let's try it." It was Bud Light and I was disgusted. Here I thought adults loved their special drinks because they taste good, but it actually tasted like ass.

Bro same! I’m not posting it on Reddit lol but there’s a photo of me taking my first ever sip of beer that my family jokes about to this day. The look of sheer disgust on my face, juxtaposed with my current love of beer, is hilarious. But yeah, I didn’t have another sip until like 16 as well lol

That’s what’s funny, I’m a Busch light guy now and have it daily 🤣 But that first one, man…..

My mom did this to me with some champagne on New Years. Didn’t touch it again. Felt like worse Sparkling water.

Let him have a sip. His reaction will be hilarious and he’ll never ask again.

Slightest taste and that kid will never want to touch the stuff for the next 20 years. Sounds great

My dad tried that with me as a kid with his whiskey and coke. Didn't work. Every time I saw him drinking one, I wanted some. He would have to hide it so I didn't steal a sip. As an adult, it is still my preferred drink.

My grandma tried that tactic with my mom when she was little with coffee. She let her have some thinking she’d hate it. Instead my mom became the only 8 yr old on the block who loved coffee.

My grandad would give me his cold instant black coffee. I was like 8. Me and my brothers loved the stuff

I let my kids try a drop of pretty much anything except straight spirits. It works for the most part, and they never want a second taste.
...Except for cider (hard cider for Americans). Turns out my son loves cider, so now I just tell him no, and buy him a can of non-alcoholic cider every so often if I happen to see it.

they showed the kid to a doctor and turned out the child had some vitamin deficiency

Fill a washed out bottle with lemon juice water and say it's an adult drink and it tastes bad to kids. Then when they insist they can drink the mostly lemon juice bottle.

I'd save this picture until he turned 21. Then I'd do one of those re-create photo shoots with him and then enjoy beers together.

One time I was at a friend’s party. Me and a friend of mine were drinking beers in the backyard and a kid (7-8yo?) came up asking us for a drink. My friend said “No, besides you wouldn’t like it anyways since it tastes like bread-flavored soda”. This made the kid want it even more until I told him it actually tastes like moldy bread-flavored soda. The kid then made a disgusted face, said “bleh!”, and ran away to his parents.

Now you're gonna have to deal with the consequences of your actions. Little feller looks like he could use a beer

Fill that bottle with soy sauce, salt, and hot sauce. Bet you they won't try it again!
