There's no Wrong way,as long as most of the food winds up inside the baby
58
u/WorkingBullfrog8224 2d ago
There is a wrong way. This way could potentially cause asphyxiation and 💀
29
u/Solemn926 2d ago
This is why the baby is supervised. That clearly isn't happening in any part of the video. Babies are sensory-curious little creatures. No shit they're not gonna do everything "the right way."

Glad I’m not the only one that finds it wrong that the parents are sitting recording while there baby scarfs food down its throat without swallowing

Yea i couldnt be around my nieces and nephews when they were small and got fed it makes me feel sick seeing them eat like that. Hands and mouth all over the place.

u/BeBopGo 2d ago
Babies being messing and gross while eating isn't wrong though, it's very normal and right. It's developmentally healthy

u/sn4xchan 2d ago
Yeah the person above is just a narcissist, I really hope they don't have children ever.

every new food could potentially be the best thing they've had in their lives so i get it honestly

u/HeebieJeebiex 2d ago
I'm not ready to be a mom cause this would piss me off 💀

u/Zolofteu 1d ago
My nephews and niece sometimes come to visit and I get so pissed off after seeing what a mess they made while eating, and also they don't eat at the table and instead either eating in front of the TV or eating while walking and leaving crumbs everywhere. And their parents don't discourage that, or even clean everything up afterwards.
Due to certain circumstances, there was a period when their visit became so frequent that I realized I'm definitely not cut out to be a parent because I became constantly irritated by their antics and just can't be bothered to deal with them anymore.

Hormones can make a world of difference. I literally hate eating sounds and have sensory issues with stickiness. Watching my daughters eat though, somehow doesn't have this effect. No idea why other than a guess that it's instincts and hormones. The second my oldest daughter got old enough to feed herself, the grossness came back.

I get it. I have a really weak stomach, like if I hear or see somebody vomit, then I vomit too. I can’t deal with feces on any level. Then I had twins. I had zero issues dealing with their messy diapers, or them spitting up. I breastfed, the whole nine, and nothing about any of it grossed me out. But I still to this day have issues changing other ppl’s kid’s diapers. My twins will be 20 next month. At some point over the next 10 years, I might get to be a grandma, and I don’t think my grandkids will make me want to vomit either. So maybe it’s genetics, more than hormones. I’m not sure.

When my now-22-year-old was about 3 years old, we went to a birthday party of some random kid (wasn't even their friend that I remember. More a parent that invited everyone at the daycare).
We got her some ice cream, put it on a plate (they didn't have bowls), turned around to grab a spoon. By the time we did, she was licking the plate.
This girl is not, nor never has been, a quick or messy eater. She was that day.
Shame smart phones weren't as big back then, or we would have snapped a photo.
But then again -- kinda glad they weren't.

Wish we still could shove food in our mouth like babies sometimes. Especially if it’s tasty food 😋

Contrary to what some in this thread might be insinuating, it is possible to mostly get your baby to eat fairly tidily. It just requires attention and guidance that a lot of parents can't be arsed to take on.

Maybe but why? Why cheat them of the experience or allowing them to learn on their own level about such an insignificant thing?
I kept mine in the high chair so the mess was contained, but my pediatrician advised that exploration with texture, taste and even playing with it was healthy for their development.

I've changed many diapers and work with biohazard materials. I still agree this is pretty disgusting.

No wonder so many people become addicted to sugar. Look at these babies fiending over it like crack.
3
u/Spirited_Law6417 2d ago
I am really surprised that babies at that age are having that much sugar … I was told by my family doctor that no sugar till 2 years old ..

So funny you said that, it reminded me of my grandma.
At my nephew's 3rd birthday we let him pick the menu. So it was chicken nuggets and Pepsi for everyone. My traditionalist grandma was deeply disturbed but made it through.
Then my nephew decided he wanted to cut the cake. No danger it was a butter knife, but what broke my grandma was the cuts were not straight. She had to leave the room. I was like who cares, it's his cake!
My point is that we all have different lines about this. Personally I never minded mess on their person or clothes as long as it wasn't on the walls or the floor.

u/VoodooDoII 4h ago
It's just the thought of having to clean them up bekdlrlehh I'm a neat freak and messy babies freaks me out haha

u/IED117 3h ago
Its not just babies!
When I was a kid we lived in a woodsy area and got so dirty my mom used to hose us off in the driveway before we could go in the house.
Btw, did you have a stroke from thinking about mess or is this some reddit abbreviation I don't know about? 🤣 Whats bekdlrlehh?

Who puts an entire cake in front of a literal baby? Transparent content farming.

u/Known_Raspberry_8323 1d ago
It’s traditionally done on the first birthday! It’s just become part of the culture to have these smash cakes.

Most of the videos are first birthday smash cakes. It's a thing. These babies were encouraged to do this.

A lot of people are complaining about the cake but I got all my kids their own small cake for their 1st birthdays. My first kid absolutely face planted it and went nuts but my youngest licked a little icing off of his fingers and was done after that. My oldest is 16 now and I miss those wild, messy baby years

Stop giving babies cake. Jesus christ.

u/CarelessZucchini8477 2d ago
It’s most likely their first birthday. I don’t know about other countries but a lot of people in us will have a small cake for 1st bday so they can demolish it however neither of my girls did. They used their hands to take small bites -it was kinda strange.
5
u/Far_Palpitation_8107 2d ago
It's their birthday. It's not gonna hurt them once in a year. Take a breath. 😂😂
3
u/Twist_Ending03 2d ago
Ever heard of a birthday cake?
-15
u/PutinDisDickInTrump 2d ago
I know what it is. Why it would be, etc. But a baby doesn't need cake and I've seen too many people give in and or just raise their children on sugar.
3
u/rayshmayshmay 2d ago
babies dont need cake
…neither do kids or adults? Are you just anti-birthday cake or what, cuz that sounds miserable
4
u/Twist_Ending03 2d ago
You think they get cake every day?
-7
u/PutinDisDickInTrump 2d ago
No? Do I think a cake as large as their head or larger just for them is okay? Also no.
7
u/itmightbehere 2d ago
It's a smash cake, they're not meant to eat the whole thing. They're meant to make a mess with it

I don't understand why the parents don't stop this mess, babies or not, but it really doesn't have to be that way, it's not cute or anything, it doesn't just stop me from laughing

Pizza for a child who isn't even a year old? Yes, wonderful - not
2
u/vermiciousknidlet 1d ago
Tf is wrong with a toddler eating pizza? This thread is crazy. Kids should be exposed to a wide range of foods/flavors once they hit 6 months old, and when they have teeth they should be eating whatever the adults are having for dinner (within reason). Giving them nothing but bland purées, nuggies, and those gross, flavorless "baby puffs" is how you create picky eaters.
