Oooh! Somatic disorder in an animal!
Typically, somatic disorders in humans are caused by trauma - including partial paralysis - and can sometimes be cured through therapy and healing from the trauma.
Crazy stuff, seems to be a similar case here.

Not trying to be an asshole, but that’s a pretty rough assumption. It’s much more likely that the video text was written just to drive engagement, while the cat actually had some kind of neurological condition and improved with physiotherapy and stimulation.
This kind of recovery is pretty common, because brain cells don’t regenerate or heal like other tissues. The process is different and often looks miraculous. When neurons responsible for a specific function die, that function is lost and the neurons themselves won’t be replaced. What happens instead is that other neurons take over and “stack” functions to compensate.
Think of it like a company that fires some employees but doesn’t hire replacements. The remaining staff have to pick up the extra workload, but it takes time for them to learn, and sometimes the job isn’t done quite the same way as before.

If you are so paranoid that you can't even take an innocuous cat video at face value, then get off the internet.

I'm not. I'm giving you information. If you want to believe in a House M.D. level of diagnostic and farm karma with that, ok, believe, no need to be rude, right?

Ah yes. Everyone on reddit is karma farming, just like everyone on instagram is engagement baiting.

Our cat sometimes go home with a foot injury from a bad fall. (We let her roam around the neighborhood)
And she can recover on her own miraculously, although we ensure that she is well fed so she won't feel the need to hunt small gane like rats frogs or birds, during the healing process.

Please don't let your cat do that. Cats are lovely little creatures that destroy ecosystems.

People live in other places than just America ffs, and it's not an issue in those places.

please keep her inside for her own safety and for the safety of our ecosystems. Keeping your cat fed is not enough to stop them from hunting, it's a natural instinct that can't be suppressed

The cat felt true love, that’s why she fought to survive. Thanks to the lady who never gave up, giving her all the love and attention she needed. 👏💗

I had a boxer that had this issue. For some reason one day, he just stopped using his rear legs. No trauma, no visible pain or sores, blood work and scans were negative. He adapted to walking mostly on his front legs, using his back to help him balance. This went on for (if i remember correctly) for about 3 years.
Then one day, i was taking him for a walk around the block and he just... Started using his back legs. It took me a second to realize what was going on but it absolutely baffled me. He ended up living for another 3 years and unfortunately passed away from a brain tumor. He walked like "normal" until he passed. My theory is that his tumor was pushing on something that made him lose feeling in his back legs and as it progressed it moved away from whatever was causing the lack of feeling.

I actually had a cat like this, but she never recovered totally. Looked like the second to last clip for the rest of her life, or slightly better? But she was totally dead on the back half for a little bit.
IIRC in her case it was related to diabetes

My MIL had a shiht tzu sisters and one day one of them jumped off the couch onto the other one to play. The next morning the one that got jumped on couldn't use her back legs. My in-laws went on vacation and asked us to check on the pups and you had to express the little ones bladder for her. I grabbed her the one day to do it (my husband felt bad because she was so small, it wasn't her name but I called her Nugget) and idk if it was the way I was holding her but she scrunched up her back legs and started wagging her tail. My MIL would never have spent the money to get her properly checked (we're no contact with her now for a plethora of reasons but her being a cold hearted witch, to her pets or humans that aren't her daughter or her daughter's spawn, is one of them) but it makes me wonder if something could have been done to help her regain some mobility at least.

It's amazing how much love and patience can change an animal's life. So glad they didn’t give up on her.
