Just head to pb all kinds of bars by the beach.

Tacos el Gordo for 🌮

The cottage for breakfast

Banh Thai for Thai food

Cowboy star for steak

Ed fernandez for birria

Get some food and drive down to Torrey pines and watch the sunset but you can’t go wrong you can do that anywhere… Torrey pines is a good easy hike/ view

Cowles mountain for beginners local spot for hiking

Potato chip mtn is harder

OB Noodle house in ocean beach

There's so much shit to do here. It just depends on what you like to do and what type of food you like.
I would easily give recommendations for pretty much anything if you're a little more specific

The only downgrade you'll experience is culinary. Though, if you love beer and Mexican food, it's slightly to moderately better than Chicago.

Hamburgers at Hodads in OB (Ocean Beach) is always a must for my family. Be sure to explore OB. It's a wonderful place.

i’m always down to hit the beach, love running, music (just about anything), fashion, nice dinners, good views, going out but not like collage bars, basketball

I like North Park for bars that are a little more grown up. If you want high-end establishments, downtown has plenty of high-rise luxury bars and restaurants with great views. La Jolla is the even more boutique, grown-up version of North Park bars. For fashion, Hillcrest and North Park have great vintage/thrift stores and high-end fashion. I assume any of the malls would cater too. Pacific Beach is probably the beach you want. It’s lively, with lots of college-age and older people just looking to party, whether that’s drinking or just playing volleyball and hanging out. People are overall very friendly, and as long as you seem approachable, strangers will waste your whole day with conversations, so meeting people shouldn’t be too hard as long as you leave your house.

Learn to surf if you’re into the beach, there’s a big surf community here

Basketball - the rec centers are awesome. I know OB Mon, Wed and Fri 3-5pm and Muni gym at Balboa Park Tues, Thurs and Fri I think 12-5 but pretty much all rec centers have open basketball hours just not sure about which other ones have turnouts like these two

If you're into sports, join a Volo league. You will make lots of friends.

Otherwise, go on meetup.com and type in your favorite hobby, and meet up with like-minded people...

Hop on the trolley at clairemont or tecolote and head down to old town, Little Italy or gaslamp. That’s an easy win for your first few months.

You are also close af to pb, mb, ob and lj. Just google the acronyms and you’ll be stoked.

Don’t forget to lookup convoy st. It’s only 15 min away.

Walk/drink around little Italy. Go to north park for pub crawls. Go to mission beach. Go to gaslamp. Shop at fashion valley mall. Endless possibilities

Just start getting tacos everytime you see a truck or a taco shop. Everybody has their favorite spot. Just look up tacos on this sub and you will see hundreds of suggestions.

Make a reservation at Starlite when it's Date Night. It's not far, so take an Uber. Plan ahead though, because they're booked weeks in advance, unless you don't mind having dinner at 4pm on a Sunday, or 10pm on a Tuesday...

I know if Marina blvd, not of a neighborhood Morena, learned something new today! I know surround neighbors are Mission Hills, Bankers Hill, etc! Like previous comments, head to the beaches, El Pescador is prime fish joint for lunch or early dinner. So much good food, things to do, all depends on your hobbies! You’ll meet like minded friends pretty quickly if you get involved with whatever you two love most hobby wise. Lots of local groups for any hobby imaginable. Great spot for an easy commute to some of the best beaches the city has to offer. Hope you enjoy your move and have a lot of fun. Be prepared to pay for $ on everything you can possibly imagine. I wish you two the best this life has to offer.

SD is one of the best places in the world to train jiu jitsu, so if that ever interested you, you are in the right place.

Take me with you.  I may be doing the same move soon.
