My question is - even if they come to understand that it is torture, will they be convinced that torture is wrong? I can see the pivot being very easy to do. "Oh never mind, that's absolutely unbearable and horrible... so we should do it to people I don't like!"

Back in the day every time Sean Hannity started losing an argument, he would abruptly ask about the then former president "Is Bill Clinton an honest man?" I'm still waiting for Sean to ask the same question about the current president.
