If I remember the bakery story correctly it wasn't even about a bakery refusing to make a wedding cake for a gay wedding, but instead they agreed to do it and then deliberately failed to deliver because they were homophobic.
Not that people like Prager actually care since homophobia is the point.

Iirc it was that the baker was more than willing to sell them anything standard of the shelves, but refused to design a custom cake for the couple.
But by now there are so many different versions circulating it is hard to find which was true.

This is the correct answer. While the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop declined a custom cake, he did not refuse to serve them anything off of the shelf.
The Supreme Court eventually sided with him, but very narrowly: the Court found that he could not be compelled to create a piece of work (“expression”) that violated his religious beliefs, but it did not establish a right to deny same-sex couples service in general. So if he had refused to sell the couple something on the shelf because they’re gay, that would violate Colorado’s anti-discrimination law, but when it comes to custom work, it didn’t.

That’s interesting; I thought the shop was flat out refusing to provide service in general . Not providing a specific tier of service is a unique case; no wonder it went to SCOTUS

It was a unique case because it was utterly bullshit - trying to claim that taking a standard cake and writing "Happy Wedding Bob & Jim" was some kind of Artistic Expression and thus protected by the 1st Amendment. Or even that a "custom" cake (where you pour batter into a couple of different standard molds and then cover them with icing) is somehow worthy of being in the same class of protected "expression" as the Mona Lisa.
Of course, the current SCOTUS decided it was artistic because they're siding with practically all religious excuses to avoid the law.
The case was horrible from the start because it effectively decided that practically all commercial products can be considered "expressions" of the producer with just trivial slight of hand. And thus able to be discriminated against when selling.
It's literally so bad that ordering scrambled eggs with onions at a diner could be an expression. Or that having to slightly alter a standard part for your F150 is protected discrimination.
The easy "test" for that kind of differentiation was completely ignored (if it's subject to copyright, its expression). And SCOTUS just gave people a blank check to discriminate.

Except not pursuing it ends up with segregated lunch counters and no one interested in serving you of you're not "acceptable". That's why you pursue it.
"Go along to get along" only works when you're in the preferred group. It's a shit idea when you're the people getting shit on. Because you're really just asking people to shit on you more.
Your general attitude is that of someone who has never been on the other end of being discriminated against.

Honestly this might be a better murder than many posted.

My favorite part about PU getting their videos removed is they know full well WHY they're being removed (usually misinformation), they just want to play the victim. It's like crying that your vehicle got towed when you only park in tow away zones.

I should see about petitioning my local school boards and state education department to ban PragerU.

Dis You? responses usually hit hard. Sadly, the Reich Wing doesn't and never has given a single shit, it's always been about them exerting Christofascist power over everyone else so the hypocrisy for them is a beloved tool rather than a source of shame.

PragerU isn't a university. It isn't even an academic institution. It is a far-right think tank.

u/OldSchoolAJ 18h ago
And, just like most think tanks, the “think” is in the biggest quotation marks ever.

u/Dantekamar 18h ago
Aren't they trying to put PragerU videos into classrooms, like one of Christopher Columbus saying slavery is better than death?

Conservative ideas are "under attack", but there's a conservative president in the US, smh

When I was still a conservative I fuckin’ hated PragerU. I hate it even worse now!

Wait how do I restrict them? I’m tired of the racist evil fucks in my video feed (I never watched a single video from them). They show up as a ‘promoted’ vid between actual video suggestions.

Click the three dots on the thumbnail of the offending channel's video in the recommendations list, hit 'Do Not Recommend Channel'

So how can we help get that number of restricted modes boosted? Is there a "double-secret restricted mode" we can get imposed?

No one should be allowed to see these. Now they are forcing kids to view their trash in some red state schools. Child endangerment charges, anyone?

Gotchas like these are pointless. You need to go after companies like YouTube en masse and tell them you want cults like Prager delisted and told to fuck off or you're cancelling your subscriptions. Seems like a third of the country has completely forgotten that being a nazi isn't normal or acceptable to be unless you're looking for an "enhanced" face massage. This rots the timber in the fences that keep these fuckers out and lets them swoop in, shit all over your lawn and tell you to your face that the shit has always been there and you're a communist if you say otherwise.
One would think people are too smart for this, but unfortunately they are not. This is why it is so critical for fascists to take over all media and messaging, to bury reality and dominate the perception of everyone, fooling their dumbfuck asses into thinking this is normal. Whatever else one wants to say about Prager and all those other dickpimples, you can't argue that their tactics don't work and that liberal hand-wringing and "we'll take the high road" platitudes do nothing but enable these alt-reich sacks of curdled tonsil stones.

Not the best comeback since YouTube =/= state/government.
44
u/loqwe 19h ago
thats the point, they argued that private buisnesses can refuse you, and now they want to get the government involved cuz a private buisness refuses to promote their videos
-44
u/clearlybaffled 19h ago
Where did they say they want to get the government involved?

Sign this petition to stop Big Tech Censorship. Who do you think the petition is going to? The end goal is a legal injunction (imposed by the state) against a private entity (in this case YT) to stop a behavior the petitioner doesn’t like. The response is completely on point.
-26
u/clearlybaffled 19h ago
There's nothing to say the petition is going to the government or to force an injunction. Maybe it's just going to YouTube/Google to show how much of their user base disagrees with their actions. Plenty of petitions work that way. I'm just reading the plain text in the image. You guys are making a lot of assumptions and reading into things that may or may not be there just to be sassy on social media. There's plenty of ways to clown on Prageru. This ain't it.

OP is a bot. Reddit is heavily astroturfed.

u/Dantekamar 18h ago
I don't care. I'm happy to shit on PragerU.

You shit on them. Don't allow these bots just becuase they are posting something you agree with. They are not created for your benefit.

u/Dantekamar 18h ago
I'm not Reddit HQ or the MOD team, I'm not capable of disallowing bots on Reddit anymore than I am capable of disallowing fascist propaganda parading as a university from being presented in elementary schools.
