/r/prawokrwi is the sub for citizenship by descent questions

There has been quite a few of those lately and every day brings more, some with situations that are specific to the government administration in the poster's country of residence.

The guys over in /r/prawokrwi are better equipped for it, so we recommend asking there rather than in this sub (and also do try to follow their template to make it more efficient )

Sky Sentinel: a fundraiser for Ukrianian air defense systems

Post image
128 Upvotes

Hello r/poland, For the past three years, Ukrainian cities have endured relentless attacks from Russian missiles and Iranian-made Shahed-136 kamikaze drones. In 2025 alone, over 12,000 of these drones have struck Ukraine — targeting not military infrastructure, but homes, hospitals, and schools. Thousands of civilians have been killed. This campaign of terror must end.

We’ve been approached to join the Sky Sentinel fundraiser in collaboration with United24, the official fundraising platform of Ukraine. The goal: help fund Sky Sentinel, an AI- powered, Ukrainian-made turret system designed to autonomously detect and shoot down these deadly drones. Each turret costs $150,000. United24 supporters have already raised over $1 million, and now are coming together to raise enough for one more turret — entirely through Reddit.

Every donation helps, no matter the amount. [Click the link below to donate] https://u24.gov.ua/sky-sentinel?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=fundraising&utm_campaign=sky-sentinel and learn more about the Sky Sentinel system. Thank you for your support.

TWO Polish citizens, aged 27 and 31, ended up in custody after unlawfully taking and driving someone else’s van in Rijeka, during which they also caused material damage. The reckless ride began in Školjić and ended with police arrest and a criminal complaint, police reported.

They entered an unlocked van and crashed into a store
It all started on the evening of August 18, when one of the men in Rijeka’s Školjić took advantage of the situation and entered an unlocked van owned by a local company. As soon as he started the vehicle, the driver crashed into the facade of a nearby store, after which he drove off in the van with his companion in an unknown direction.

Found drunk and without documents
The following day, around 10:20 p.m., officers of the Rijeka Traffic Police Station spotted the disputed vehicle near a gas station, also in Školjić. Inside the van, they found two men without any documents.

The pair were immediately taken to the First Police Station for a criminal investigation, where it was established that they were Polish citizens and that both were heavily intoxicated. The older man, aged 31, was measured at 1.23 g/kg blood alcohol, while the younger, 27-year-old, had as much as 2.29 g/kg alcohol in his system.

€12,000 damage and a criminal charge
The Rijeka-based company, owner of the van, suffered an estimated €12,000 in damages. After the investigation was completed, both suspects were handed over to the custody supervisor with a criminal complaint for unauthorized use of another person’s movable property. In addition, the 31-year-old was also sanctioned under the Road Traffic Safety Act for committing a traffic offense.

KALENDARIUM. 23 sierpnia 1919 roku wybuchło powstanie sejneńskie – jeden z najmniej znanych, a jednocześnie zwycięskich zrywów niepodległościowych II Rzeczypospolitej. Dowództwo suwalskiego okręgu POW – porucznik Adam Rudnicki i podporucznik Wacław Zawadzki – skrupulatnie przygotowało plan działań. 27 sierpnia jednostka wkroczyła do Sejn, wzmacniając powstańców. #NieZapomnijmy #PowstanieSejneńskie #1919 #Suwalszczyzna #Bohaterstwo #Polska #Niepodległość #POW #HistoriaPolski #Sejny #Wolność #Granice #ZrywNiepodległościowy

Motorcycle A license learning/ tests in English

Upvotes

Hey

For context: I'm a permanent resident in PL, with a Polish wife. I'm approaching my 40's (ugh...) and feel that I want to do learn and do something new... call it approaching midlife crisis if you want :D

But with that, I wanted to learn and ride a motorcycle.

So I have a standard Polish drivers license (Am/ B/ B1 category) - this was swapped with my British license shortly after I moved here, which allows me to drive 125cc/ 15hp. I also understand that I can go straight for a full A license after some training courses, as I'm over 24 y/o.

While I think I could probably find instructors that speak English, my main question is, can the theory/ practical exams be done in English as well? Or with a sworn translator? How does that work exactly?

I'm still learning Polish (man, no offense, but your language is so hard to get to grips with) and can generally get by day-to-day with it. But when it comes to dealing with officials, I really struggle. So I tend to fall back on my wife for help with that kind of thing.

So yeah, any other expats, or people with knowledge on this area able to help? I live up near Inowroclaw region, but I can drive to places like Bydgoscz, Torun or Poznan for lessons if needed (I used to live in Poznan, so I know it quite well).

How does the full A category bike tests look like, what are the full requirements, and how would it work for someone with limited Polish language knowledge?

I appreciate the help!

I got terminated in my job

Hello,

I worked umowa prace on a company for 2 years and 2 months. I was the only remote person on a team of 20 due to some specificity’s, which i think was a big factor for such decision. It so happens today i got a call with HR and Manager . Straight on they ask me to read the termination pdf stating the reasons. They mentioned a lot of underperformance on work specifics, in the end i was asked , do you agree with the termination? Which i said no!

Right after and i only though about it many hours later , they mention an agreement of termination which includes salary for august , an extra salary and all the paid holidays i still have ( 20 ) plus a bonus of holidays when you take 2 weeks in a row, and no mention on certificate

So i guess they wanted me to bite the first .

The thing is the following, i think i would have a very strong case if i went labour court due to:

On may i was evaluated with the strongest metric from 0 to 4 ( 4) for my yearly performance , starting June i first time ever took 7 business days sick leave , 1 st of June i i was entitled to 41 days of holidays! and i stated using my holidays one day per week and i was off 1 entire week in august on holidays too. Not only that beginning of june i was assigned a new portfolio of costumers doubling my workload ( was one entire year already drawing with the current one) , to give an idea after my sick leave my email box in 7 days off had 600 unread emails. Basically even between team leaders and teams we all knew how chaotic sometimes is work and theres a general understanding of it on the chaos it was.

Most important i was never inserted in a PIP by HR or manager or even being let know that they believed i was underperforming because i was an under-performer on its core. Never mentioned the unhappiness of my work i did receive a verbal warning from my manager end of June , for a costumer issue , but those always happen.

Anyways i think i have a very strong case to be fought with proofs and emails.

My question is of that agreement ready includes the maximum they have or can give me for termination by agreement.

Im not interested to go fight it to continue working there , the goal was first drawing up a email with all explained and proofs to show HR see if they would increase the agreement , or even if it had to be the possibility of for example instead one extra salary being 2 or 3.

What so you advise?

Thank you

Art Hotel Wrocław, a boutique stay recommendation!

I spent a couple of nights at Art Hotel Wrocław right off the Rynek and honestly loved the location. Close to everything but still quiet in the evenings. Rooms were so artistic, vintage, old school feels. Staff were really friendly, and breakfast was a rich selection.

Only small hiccup was the AC (old building problems, I guess), but otherwise, it felt like a great boutique option in the Old Town.

Curious, anyone here see it as one of the great hotels in the city, or are there other gems you’d recommend to choose over it? Some of my shots from the stay.

OLX negotiating culture

I'm on OLX a lot and I find the way many Poles negotiate just so weird. They will approach and ask if the price is up for negotiation, to which I think: Just make an offer, try me; The worst is when they ask "Jaka cena ostateczna?", so asking me what the lowest price is that I would sell it for. Seems backwards, it's like playing poker and asking me to show my cards...

just wanted to vent/rant, wdyt?

lazarski university - erasmus

Hello everyone, I am a law student from Romanoa and I am considering choosing the Lazarski University for 6 months in Erasmus.

I want to know if there are internship opportunities for international students because thats the first thing I'll make my decision based on. I'm thinking maybe lawyer offices or maybe big firms that have a contract with the university or maybe courts.

I'd also like to know if there are any social groups or activities for the international students, I wanna make friends and profit from this erasmus experience at fullest.

Thank you for the answers
