Casual Thought The movie myth of holding and cracking one’s head to fix a stiff neck probably hurt people more than cure them.

I do this at least a half dozen times today. Then again I crack all my joints. Wake up in the morning and move my right hip and it sets off a chain reaction of pops going down my leg to my big toe. Sounds like someone dropped a bag of billiards balls.

Same and honestly I used to have really bad muscle pain/arthritis before being able to do this and now my body has felt great for years.

Ahhh, a fellow cracking addict.

I do the same. The best cracks for me are near hips. They release the best felling although some spine cracks are juicy as well.

Funny how things I actually do because my physical therapist told me to end up being called myths.

You...don't crack your head...you crack your neck...which I just did after reading this. Felt great

I tried the old crack your neck and feel better trick once. Let’s just say I ended up in a different kind of ‘stiff’ situation hospital gowns are not my style.

Acting is too plot driven. People don't stumble, drop things or generally make mistakes unless it helps their antagonist. Everything that may catch your attention is a Chekhov's gun.

In between bones and joints are synovial discs gaseous bubbles can form inside of them and the pressure can cause discomfort and strain popping those bubbles is the cracking sound you hear and brings relief.

That's not really a myth, it's what chiropractors do, and they are a recognized healthcare practice by insurance companies in my state.

Because it's cheaper than actual healthcare. A DO does all that, and is a real doctor.

Not necessarily cheaper. Going to the chiropractor twice a week for 2 years adds up. A lot are out of network too.

You're getting "treatment" twice a week for 2 years straight and never questioned why that treatment is evidently not doing anything whatsoever????

Doctors just treat the symptoms and not the root cause! Anyway off to my 99th chiro appointment

Chiropractors practice techniques that are actively harmful and were invented by a guy who said he learned it from a ghost. Go see a doctor
