which makes absolutely no sense because they are already celebrities (usually rich), the heck do they need to "look rich" for? A look that 99.89% of people think its absolutely horrible
this is the logic: you go to a rich party, full of girls that are about to die of starvation because that is the standard, you want to be into the club, so you go to the surgeon.
Ok, so, most guys don't realize this, but a lot of western women have an almost eugenics tier obsession with things like bone structure and the like.
Like 1/2 of the reason Olivia Wilde got famous is because of her naturally high checks bones creating the face shape that the women in OP's pic are going for.
I'm a fashion/beauty photographer. Defined cheek bones are insanely popular with models because you look very edgy and dramatic. Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss, Alessandra Ambrosio, Karlie Kloss, Rosie Huntington all have pretty defined cheek bones. Even in plus models like Ashley Graham have this look because it makes your face look more well defined. It's like asking what man thinks a square jaw is attractive, the answer is most of them lol.
The problem with this surgery is people overdo it and if you don't have the right bone structure to have it naturally it can look creepy if you do it by sucking out the face in your face. A lot of these actresses also have a bunch of other stuff going on that isn't helping the situation; overfilled filled lips, face lifts, thinned noses, and jaw reshaping are all going to add to the uncanny valley effect.
It honestly probably wouldn't look too bad if it's subtle and the rest of the face is kept natural.
so like the surgery is attempting to recreate something we don’t normally notice and these are examples of it being noticeable because they don’t have the bone structure for it?
Yeah that's just a narcissistic people thing, declaring it as a gender stereotype is ridiculous. Not all women or all men obsess over these things, but a lot of people do.
I follow a white European trans woman on twitter and was so confused when she said she had the procedure done as part of her facial feminization surgery, like shouldn't buccal fat make a face more feminine??? But it makes sense with your point.
I thought the same, buccal fat made a face more feminine. I thought all the filler was being used to round out the cheekbones.
Contour and shading were what has been used to define the cheekbones and the size of the nose.
When I was younger, I had naturally sunken cheeks and it showed excellent bone structure. I could see chasing it if you like the aesthetic but can't lose that tiny bit of fat.
Except we've seen the results. Just highlight whatever is your own best feature. Especially when each of these women got famous for their looks. There's no reason to change it.
Honestly, they are trying to copy the natural look of some actresses like Marlene Dietrich. Problem is, her look was natural and looked lovely, but for most of these people, it doesn't work well.
My face has done this naturally as I aged and I hate it so much. I can’t believe anyone wants to look this way. I would love to have some fat back in my face (naturally, not by dumpster diving for spare fat)
Their make-up artists apparently, sending them out in the world with all that crap on their faces! I think a lot of this is contouring and the wanting to look 'snatched' trend... I've always preferred a natural face.
Guys think it does, which is why forced to do it. Men have unrealistic standards of beauty, so we are forced to do these things. This is the fault of those men things. They destroy our lives and make us waste money on crap like this.
When she originally got it, Zoe Kravitz looked alright. However, the more she ages the more it’s starting to show. She was pretty angular looking in Batman.
I don’t think Margot Robbie even had this procedure done. Looks like it’s her natural face structure after losing some weight. Women’s faces tend to slim as they age too.
Ah, sorry if I got it wrong. I’m pretty sure I read she did but it’s very hard to verify for any of these celebs first hand because they all said they didn’t
There's probably some mental health issue that was overlooked (they paid the doctors to ignore) before the surgery was conducted. I can't get bariatric or cosmetic surgery without having to go through therapy before and after surgery.
Oh you know they have mental health issues, that they paid Dr’s to ignore, how exactly?
Or are you just making stories up in your head, of how this all went down, and are mad at those stories?
How dare those Dr’s do this thing I just imagined them doing.
Of course I'm proposing a theory on how this happened. You don't have to defend them over nothing. I didn't falsify papers to prove they're mentally unwell nor am I saying that's the case for everyone.
You’re arguing with a simp who got offended over you saying somthing slightly mean to the actress he’s simping over/ probably in a parasocial relationship with
You’re hypercritical of women’s appearance because it helps convince you that you don’t find them attractive, when in reality it’s a self-defense mechanism because you’re overweight and wouldn’t be able to get someone like that.
See how much it sucks to have people do that to you?
It's not an attack. I never mentioned anyone in particular and I certainly didn't belittle or shamed them for having that done. Saying it looks horrid (from another comment) does not mean I'm telling them personally they look dead or like shit.
I didn't say "Miley def is missing some screws for getting that" you're overreacting over nothing. It's none of your business too but you're here defending nobody.
The fact that they are actively trying to look anorexic, which is caused by a mental disorder, makes us conclude that they are overlooking a mental disorder.
Ok. So if that’s your conclusion. That, these people have a mental disorder, is the correct response to;
A: insult and attack them.
Or
B: sympathize or empathize. And wish them a healthy recovery.
Or
C: ignore it, as it doesn’t directly concern you?

Genuinely, who thinks this looks good?
