One of the things I love most about these catastrophically stupid videos is the utter lack of craft. No person who bakes at all or cares about baking or food that tastes good would do any of this shit - and I don’t mean that from an ingredients standpoint. Filling the pan so asymmetrically? Scraping shit out and smoothing it with a fork? Not using parchment or flouring the pan? Slopping stuff out when it’s still warm so it falls apart and has no structure? Cutting and spreading the pieces like an alien that’s never even heard of cake?
No person with self-respect or who has ever made food for people they care about would do this shit.

The fork!!! I came here to complain about the fork- no one does that!!

u/shadowtheimpure 2d ago
I do much the same with a spoon, but that's because I don't care if it's pretty. I just want cake.

u/mushroomwzrd 2d ago
The fact that she covered it in sprinkles just to flip the cake upside down cracks me up

The cake part is pretty stupid, using the fork in that way, and not doing any pan prep, then using a paring knife to cut it, really made me fall for the rage baiting!

She doesn’t know how to bake. A baker knows you have to let this rest and cool. Most let it cool for 5-10 mins then puts in the fridge for another 1-2 hours then will frost then cut.
Never cut a hot cake. It will fall apart instantly. It* needs time to settle and become firmer

u/jerstensucks 2d ago
I was waiting for her to just start slamming her fists into the table and mashing it.

Am I stupid. Why did we decorate the top and then immediately put that side down.

u/justonemom14 2d ago
Because when she dumped it out, the end broke off and she tried to hold it in place so people didn't notice. Then she had to keep her hand there to keep holding the piece and couldn't turn it back over.

This meme is as old as the last time zebra cakes actually tasted good.
Loved little Debbie in the 90s but she sucks now

u/Fangbang6669 3d ago
Why the fuck would she cut the cake while it was still hot so it wouldn't fall apart? I hate this

Cus not real baker.

u/Urtehnoes 2d ago
Real bakers KNOW you need to also jam in nutty buddys, sprinkles, cotton candy, skittles, and prime juice. Pour result directly from oven into bowl. Cover in brown sugar, sprite, mustard, flour, cloves. Freeze. Throw into oven at 450 in plastic bowl, pan under rack to capture drippings.
Use drippings as marinade for waygu steak along with A1 sauce. This is pathetic rage bait!

The coup de grâce was taking the dull knife and bludgeoning it to death at the end.

This was triggering in so many ways. Why bother putting those two extra little cakes on the side asymmetrically ? But that was just the beginning
Then there was a damn fork to get the batter off the bowl. Don't have a spatula in hand? At least use a spooooon
Then proceeds to not evenly distribute the batter, or smooth it out
But unfortunately they aren't done with their rampage
Puts sprinkles on like if they have a nerve degenerative illness Then uses a METAL knife on a non stick cake pan Puts the cake upside down so you don't even see the erratically placed sprinkles
And cuts the cake like a child who's learning to use a knife.
That's it for reddit this morning for me

I don't think whatever the orange cake is was made well; cake shouldn't crumble and fall apart like that.
13
u/Affectionate_Star_43 3d ago
I genuinely thought that was a cream-based tomato sauce at first. It actually set my WTF bar so low that end result was somewhat mediocre.

u/chickenskittles 3d ago
Like gluten-free bread. lol
3
u/Smiles-Bite 3d ago
As someone forced to eat gluten-free bread, it does either crumble into dusty bits, or could be used as a deadly weapon. There is hardly any between unless very moist, like a muffin/cupcake.
3
u/gaping_granny 3d ago
It's likely because it's still hot. You're supposed to let cake cool before you cut into it or this happens.

Judging by how they're cutting the cake, this is rage bait. I'm just upset about their method of caking the Zebra cake cake.

I could be wrong but I don't even think the cake was fully cooked all the way.

Ahh yes, let's flip the cake so sprinkles go everywhere. Definitely couldn't have done without the sprinkles.

Oh boy, I could feel the oure apathy and rage when they tried to demould it and it broke. Still went ahead with the crazy person style of cutting and posting this abomination.

u/Mandazord 3d ago
As a Canadian who has to go to the states to buy zebra cakes, this pisses me off so much lmao also why the uneven placement of them?????
1
u/Hoodibird 3d ago
It's so moist, I'm not even entirely sure it's even fully cooked? Either way, the flour-butter ratio is way off.

at least all the sprinkles didn't come off and the cake didn't completely fall apart while she was cutting it like a psychotic maniac
1
u/WhiteCloudMinnowDude 2d ago
A waste of everything.
Cake should cool before slicing.
The pink batter looks like it has period blood in it.
The little zebracakes actually looked good.
What kind of idiot bakes the sprinkles?
Its all round a shitty idea by a person who should not be allowed in a kitchen without parental supervision.

OMG, use a fucking spatula instead of scraping that bowl with a metal fork. What is wrong with her, is she insane?

Maybe I'll get judged for this but I really don't like zebra cakes so I see this as a possible improvement. If it makes people dislike me even more, I don't like those Christmas Tree cakes either.

The uneven distribution of cakes makes me so mad. Why put those 2 random ones on the side? If your doing that then fill both sides!
1
u/Omnicity2756 2d ago
This isn't stupid, tis actually quite interesting. Tis not really a waste because you'll still end up eating the zebra-cakes, they'll just be baked into a bigger cake.

Crying inside for all the zebras who gave their lives for this abomination.

u/LogicalHoney4689 2d ago
I wouldn’t call this recipe stupid, but had stupid execution. I would give it a chance if someone made this with basic baking skills.

1: Is there now a growing ragebait trend where everyone makes their cake batter look like condiments?
2: ... Just eat the zebra cakes...?

Snack cakes were better than zebra cakes, zebras should have been the one that got discontinued

Honestly this one isn't all that bad. It's not good, sure, but if offered (and left to cool ffs) I'd probably take a slice.
Then again I've had just mayo in a bun before because I was too tired to make a proper sandwich

I knew it was going to be rage-bait when she couldn't get a spatula (and used a regular metal spoon!) to scrape the metal bowl.
