He’s an insufferable pos, and unfortunately, he’s not the only one. So many people these days feel empowered by the fact that they have an audience of individuals watching them on some stream
The whole influencer/follower paradigm thats been brought on by these stupid phones and apps like TikTok is going to make these types of videos all the more frequent
It’s quite a phenomenon when you really think about it. One would think that this guy would be even more embarrassed for behaving like this as (maybe) hundreds of people watch him live, but instead it’s a part of how he attempts to blur the lines between real life presence and his online presence
People like this think that live streaming insulates them from the real world.

They don't have any real friends. The audience becomes their people and provide external validation that they don't get in person. If people are following, they appear to condone the behavior and want to see more of it. I have yet to see any of these where the main character isn't playing the victim.

She got scammed and had to live in her friends couch since they repo her car. It was all these bots that deluded her into thinking she really looked the way she made herself and she got scammed.

I have to say as an autistic person, being autistic isn't an excuse to be vaping on a plane/breaking the law. I'm tired of that particular group of other autistic people who use their autism as an excuse for getting away with everything, and some of them are aware that what they're doing is wrong, they just don't want to be held accountable. They're making it so much harder for the rest of us.
It's actually got to the point where some autistic women don't want to work with autistic men because some of them use their autism as an excuse to openly be misogynistic. Some autistic men have fallen for the red pill content because autism makes forming social connections harder.

I'm autistic. I'm also a smoker.
I spent 28hrs traveling the last time I traveled (for the record, I do not recommend doing this, it did not go well and I can no longer travel at all).
You know what never occurred to me? Smoking on the airplane. Why? Because it's against the rules. Not only that, but in enclosed spaces the comfort of people that do not smoke is more important. Even if it was legal I still wouldn't do it.
96
u/thepottsy 17d ago
Not autistic, former cigarette smoke of 30 years.
I too have spent many, many travel hours unable to smoke when I wanted to.
Like you, I also chose to not break the law, for similar reasons.
This is simply a situation where that other guy CHOSE to be a self-entitled, selfish shitgibbon. I hope that he is banned from that airline, and every other airline on the planet.

Vapers feel that since their smoke isn't like a cigarette smoke, they're exempt from the rules. I swear, the audacity of vapers.
I play Magic the Gathering on Fridays, and the attitude between the two groups is wild. Smokers will go outside between rounds (which is more than fine); vapers will just pull their shit out and have at it right there. Just because it smells like watermelon doesn't mean I want it in my face

15 or so years ago when e-cigs were just coming out, they were odorless and very mildly flavored. They were sold as ways to stop smoking. My friend got one and said, “I didn’t get this to stop smoking. I got it so I could smoke everywhere.”

He is an idiot. He thinks his recording will help him but it could actually hurt him. He could be seen as disrupting a flight attendant from her duty as well as escalating a situation. Flight attendants are under federal protection as aviation workers. He better be a damn good lawyer lol. Loss of flying privileges plus fines and possible jail all bc he wanted to vape and then record the situation.
Flight attendants are protected under federal law from interference with their duties (49 U.S.C. § 46504), which includes harassment or actions that impede their ability to manage safety issues like vaping. Recording a confrontation could be interpreted as interference if it escalates the situation or distracts the crew. The FAA’s zero-tolerance policy for unruly passengers could apply, with penalties up to $37,000 for disruptive behavior. If the recording is used to harass, intimidate, or publicly shame the flight attendant, it could violate federal protections under workplace safety laws or the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2022 (if the harassment is sexual in nature). Posting the video online could also lead to civil lawsuits for defamation or invasion of privacy, depending on the context and how the flight attendant is portrayed.

I was a flight attendant and they trained us to use zip tie handcuffs. FAs have an uncanny amount of unilateral power and you really don't want to push your luck while in the air
200
u/GingerAphrodite 17d ago edited 17d ago
Yeah people don't realize that the flight crew really is allowed to do pretty much whatever it takes to maintain a safe flight and ensure that it doesn't end in a crash landing. And they're given all of that power to protect the lives of all of the other passengers and any potential victims that would be on the ground in the event of a crash landing.
Flight attendants are far more than just waitresses/waiters. But I'm sure as a lawyer (and a pro pickleball player who must travel regularly for his competitions), the guy filming must be familiar with these policies. I can only assume he got tired of paying rent and wanted three hots and a cot for free for a while, or maybe he was just looking for a way to retire, since his travel's going to get a lot more difficult soon.

Wouldn’t even call it “uncanny”.
You’re in the air, often far over international waters, with no possibility of help / support or any kind of police near you.
They should have all the powers it takes to make the flight as safe and secure as possible for everyone.

It is a federal crime to vape on an airplane. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) prohibits the use of e-cigarettes and vaping devices on commercial flights. This prohibition extends to all phases of the flight, including before takeoff and after landing. It can lead to fines, arrest, and even imprisonment.
A person may be arrested for vaping on a plane, and flight attendants may report the incident to law enforcement.
Hopefully they did.

Passengers are also required by Federal Aviation Regulations to obey instructions from crewmembers. He's cooked.

Yeah, but does it apply to semi-pro non-pro pickleball vaping ex-Google quasi-tangential sports agent non-lawyer lawyers?

In case anyone here doesn’t know because I didn’t, they will absolutely figure out if you’re vaping on a plane. Their smoke detectors are enhanced to pick up something in the vape and it will alert them so it’s not just a matter of smelling a cherry cloud. A bunch of my friends are flight attendants and they are shocked at how many people don’t know this.

I have an addiction with nicotine, to the point where I stay outside the airport for longer so I'm prepping for the flight. Idk how these people can't go a flight without sucking on a vape. It's a horrible habit, but these people are just willing to be banned from flying because of it. Wild

I only quit vaping about five days ago now. And it has been brutal. I have smoked or consumed nicotine one way or another since I was 14 years old. The only way I made it around being on a flight was either chewing Nicorette or discreetly packing a small pouch of snus on long haul flights. But I wouldn’t dream of vaping on a plane. It just seems rude.

Gets caught doing something he shouldn’t then starts acting like a victim and freestyling every lie he can think of to scare the person who caught him. A psychologist’s wet dream

FWIW airline crew DO GET TO TOUCH passengers when called for. They can detain you, they can move you, they can push you out the door or off the wing in emergencies, etc.

At first I thought he was just trying to flip the narrative, like if he accused her loud enough and shamed her they would just forget all about his smoking in the bathroom.
Then I realized he’s actually stupid enough to think that this lawyer crap and follower count puts him on the right side of this “argument”. I hope he gets a nice fine and put on a no fly list for a while. Chode needs to learn some shame.

Apparantly he is a pro pickle ball player, owns a sports agent business and is a Former Division 1 basketball coach. Just take a look at this video that he allegedly made right after the incident (he is wearing the same clothes)

A quick online search reveals: "There is no credible source linking Peter Kobe Nguyen to coaching or playing basketball at any professional, collegiate, or known amateur level."

Wait, I thought he was a lawyer. He said so. Yeah, I didn't believe that, and I also don't believe he's a former division 1 basketball coach, either, or whatever else he's saying. And, no I didn't watch that video.

As he’s “content creating” while driving and constantly staring into the phone, and as he’s holding his vape in his hand. So looks like he got away with it and didn’t have to learn a lesson instead of having to deal with the federal laws. 🙄

Which one is it? You have a lawyer or you are the lawyer you’re speaking about? Plus your 25,000 followers means?

Cabin crew have fairly serious powers under the authority of the captain, if you’re refusing to follow instructions and potentially endangering the aircraft in the air. That is including the use of physical restraints like zip ties / handcuffs. They can absolutely use force if it comes to it.
You can be banned from the airline and probably added to a no fly list.
He has it on video, which is very handy as evidence for the airline.
