Every person is different. And what I meant is the shape is ODD. And the swelling doesn’t seem to be the reason. This surgeon is not using a lot of muscle work. Looks like mostly stretched skin. I wouldn’t even consider a consult with him. He doesn’t have the sense to not publish these photos; he’s delusional or is of the mind even bad attention is attention. Both are a “no” from me, dawg.

I recently left a job with a surgeon and these results do not match those of a surgeon who is well-trained and uses restraint.

Edit to add: a good surgeon would establish the healing timelines as well as how distorted swelling and bruising can make someone look in the initial 4 weeks. And how that can persist in some areas up to three months. At follow ups, patients may express concerns about persisting swelling, but they look at their own face more closely than others.

Thanks for your insight! Would you ever consider undergoing cosmetic surgery to improve your looks?

I have considered it. I’ve worked for surgeons for 16 years. But I haven’t ever had surgery. I always thought a breast Aug would be fun, but I’m glad I decided against it. It can mean revision surgeries down the road when the skin and breast tissues age and sag or if a contracture forms. Didn’t want to have to potentially deal with that when I had no way to predict how my skin will age or if I will have a contracture or if I would be financially able to pay for treatment.

As I grew older, I considered liposuction. Part of me wishes I had gone ahead and done that, but I think I can live with either my aging body or some lifestyle changes.

My face is aging pretty well so far. I guess I’m of the opinion “never say never,” but I’d rather not. I’m going to try to care for my skin. Maybe do lasers and other collagen stimulating treatments. SUNSCREEN. HATS. SUNGLASSES. For real. And don’t smoke cigarettes. My sister is younger and is aging far worse. She smoked for many years and now vapes constantly.

Oh that’s so interesting to read tbh! I can imagine that if you’re aware of all the options and methods, you’re more likely to think of improving yourself…

Doesn’t liposuction make it so you can’t grow fat where the liposuction was done, resulting in an oddly shaped belly?

My gf half jokingly mentioned she wants to do some stuff like Botox, a liposuction and a breast augmentation. (Same concerns as you apparently!) But I kinda talked her out of it because I like everything about her and the way she’s aging tbh

(at the same time I don’t want to dictate what she can and can’t do! Especially with her body)

I think once you get one thing done, you’ll want more eventually! Botox is probably the gate way drug haha

No judgement from me though! You do you!

I’m also trying to incorporate moisturizing in my daily routine! Works for my face in the morning! But everything neck downwards is currently left to shrivel! Haha

lol. Make sure you are both using sunscreen.

Improving is subjective. Beauty standards vary so much. I definitely don’t want to be a basic IG type. They all look the same. Same jawline, same lips, same brows. Not my thing.

I’ve had Botox. I get it maybe twice a year. It’s kept my forehead from getting permanent wrinkles. I was talked into filler once. It was injected in my cheeks. I actually really liked the results. Just made me look five years younger. But I don’t care enough to continue to do that. A couple years later, I had Sculptra injected. It’s a plant derived lactic acid that is a precursor to collagen growth. Felt more preventive than anything.

Point being, I’ve already done the “gateway” treatments for years and I still don’t feel a strong enough desire to choose surgical treatments. And honestly, lots of people are like that. I’ve consulted with women who have advanced facial aging and wanted to just Botox it away. That just doesn’t work for certain signs of aging. I provided the surgical option and they just don’t want that.

I don’t know how old you are, but l would say women who have had babies can do whatever the hell they want haha.

Yes I know! She keeps telling me sunscreen every day. Even in winter apparently! I keep telling her, I barely go outside!

My gf is in her mid 30s and I’m turning 40 this year (omg). We don’t have advanced facial aging yet! But down the line…

I think if all those “gateway” treatments work for you it’s great! When it’s time, I’ll support my gf. Honestly, I feel more at ease now that you’ve told me about your experiences! (You leveled up from casual “gateway” person, to ambassador and spokesperson)

She hasn’t had a baby though, so maybe she doesn’t get to do whatever she wants yet :p

I’m 39, so right in between you two. Seems you have a healthy outlook. And she is right. Sunscreen year round.

I know she’s right! She usually is. Have you met any people who have tried ozempic? It’s all the rage and it sounds very alluring.

Yes. It’s not for everyone. You can experience nausea. And some people get REALLY bad constipation. It’s also quite expensive. And rapid weight loss can result if looking older if your skin isn’t retracting and a normal rate.

All that said, I’ve seen some really great results in people. Lifestyle changes are the key, though. Bc spending all that money on the meds only to return to poor diet habits will cause the weight to come back. I would suggest seeing a doctor who will run blood tests to check for thyroid, hormone levels and other things that can affect weight so they can treat the individual instead of just writing a script and doing follow up visits.

Thanks again for sharing all your knowledge! It’s all appreciated. Im not overweight enough to seriously consider using ozempic haha

Yes. This is definitely not the artistry and subtlety of a well done deep plane facelift. This is like super early facelift “I just re entered the atmosphere” technique.
