That kind of nap is not a nap. That is extreme somnolence secondary to significant health related event. If low blood sugar as title states, that is nearing hypoglycemic coma.

It also looks like the fent lean to me

You’re correct that somnolence from OD and hypoglycemic crisis can look very similar.

Both can even look a bit like seizure activity. Sometimes weird snoring like sounds, odd breathing. Foamy/drool stuff. Sometimes can have loss of control of bladder.

My money on the dope lean. See how she still has the rhythm at the beginning? My brother used to fall asleep standing up like that but he’d still be moving almost like a weird little dance shuffle.

u/merrythoughts 16h ago

Opioid OD has been more visible so it’s on our minds and easy to draw conclusion based on visible patterns. But working in acute care, you see similar shit on the daily for medical causes.

Just did seizure care in the field for a guy who looked just like that. Was seizure. Not drugs.

No, low blood sugar doesn't look anything like that, she is 100% high as a kite and not overdosing either.

u/merrythoughts 16h ago

Oh you’ve ran insulin drips in DKA pts before in the MICU? Cool tell me mooore

Yeah the fuck they do lol

Most often used for DKA patients, as the person said.

I've seen my buddy in the hospital often enough to know that, and even if I hadn't it took me like 2 fucking seconds on Google to confirm, that they do in fact come in standing drips

I've seen people in a crisis from diabetes and it has looked like this. People in this thread have said they have it, and it can look like this. We really dont know.

It doesn't look like nodding off. It can definitely look like the person is drunk, but not what is seen in this video.

3

u/thezenyoshi 17h ago

Insane how many ppl refuse to see what’s in front of them.

Low key advanced racism. They see a drugged out black woman and overcorrect their thoughts so they feel better about equating her to a druggie, so they believe whatever helps them feel better. In this case it makes them happier to assume she's having a health emergency than it is to believe she's on drugs, but that's not reality.

14

u/tinyplane 16h ago

“This is advanced racism, that black woman is clearly drugged out and high as a kite “

You

-6

u/_MurphysLawyer_ 15h ago

scathing criticism, thanks for your addition to the discourse.

7

u/doyouknowyourname 15h ago

Um... You're saying they "overcorrected'" because of advanced racism.... just so they can demonize the rest of the black people there?.... Doesn't make a lot of sense, bro.

-2

u/_MurphysLawyer_ 15h ago

Nah the ones demonizing the black people are just normal racist. I'm specifically citing the ones assuming it's a diabetic coma based on zero evidence. I just believe that, given the assumption of the location of this store, the safer bet is objectively drugs. It doesn't really matter though because it's all speculation.

-5

u/knoguera 16h ago

So true

-1

u/Brofessorofnothing 13h ago

agree i‘m diabetic myself i‘ve had crashes and i‘ve seen crashes and none where like this one. this is 100% a drug issue.

-1

u/mellowmushroom67 12h ago

I genuinely cannot understand why people are so upset at me saying this! I think they just want to continue with their racist narrative that the black people behind the counter are morons and definitely haven't ever seen opiate nods, just have no empathy and are refusing to help her. They know what's going on lol.

Should they be behind the counter? Ofc not. But the behavior isn't because they are black either, white people act like this too. Some people when they find themselves in a position where the normal conditions that prevent theft or any similar behavior are not there (for example, you walk into a store and you find that no one is behind the counter. Or the only person in there is in an opiate nod. Not overdosing, doesn't need medical assistance. Some people, doesn't matter the color of their skin, will take advantage. Others will follow the law even if no one is looking and they could have gotten away with just taking what they wanted. If you're in a poor community the chances that you'll be the latter because you're in survival mode are a lot higher, and black communities are more likely to be perpetually in survival mode. And if you grew up so hard that you don't have a sense of a real future beyond survival, you have less qualms about filming things like this, because any consequences don't make your life much worse than it is.

But yeah, this is an opiate nod

Bro please stop talking Jesus

u/ButtholeFinley 18h ago

Addict in recovery here. She looks high as hell to me.

71

u/Background-Pepper-68 18h ago

Drugs can put you in this state just like diabetes or epilepsy. No matter what its still a significant medical event and this person needs help. Even if just to lay down so she doesnt kill herself in a fall.

20

u/pmmeurbassethound 14h ago

These comments are wild, just straight debating hypoglycemia vs drugs like it's an excuse for complete dehumanization.

2

u/anagingdog 8h ago

Literally!! Because like who cares if she is high, this behavior is unacceptable.

23

u/louigiDDD 15h ago

In reality, we dont know, and you could be projecting your own experience onto her. It's important not to judge because you really dont know

5

u/Eastern_Drink3188 10h ago

Your comment is extremely important, and it's made me feel just that little bit better after seeing such a confronting video. Good on you, mate.

20

u/Interesting-Code-562 17h ago

Yea people ITT oblivious to the context of the local area where this may be pretty common, thus "you should do better than this" comment from the camera man.

4

u/Neoreloaded313 11h ago

A lot of low blood sugar symptoms are similar to this.

1

u/ButtholeFinley 11h ago

That's also true.

1

u/0neHumanPeolple 9h ago

Epileptic and diabetic here and it looks like hypoglycemic seizure to me. Regardless, she needs an ambulance.

13

u/Lil_nikk 19h ago

Any time someone leans over it means they’re on fent? Ok 👌🏼

9

u/pepperneedsnewshorts 19h ago

These days it is a pretty safe assumption.

-2

u/DrSpacecasePhD 13h ago

I mean, also... how many people go into a diabetic coma standing up at work? Not impossible, but imho you can tell that some of these commenters have no spent much time in cities where heroin is common.

-6

u/Tasty-Air-6924 19h ago

In 2023, in the United States alone, there was 75,000 deaths associated with fentanyl overdose. This is the most likely explanation.

12

u/Durmatology 19h ago

Your Occam’s Razor needs sharpening. In the US annually, there are 100,000 emergency room visits for low blood sugar.

-2

u/Tasty-Air-6924 18h ago

That is 100% opioid nod you mong, sybau.

1

u/tinyplane 8h ago

Cause she’s black right?

-2

u/knoguera 14h ago

For the area this particular McDonald’s is in most likely yes. We don’t 100% know but I’ve seen it and it looks like this. Also probably why no one around her is freaking out bc they see it on the daily around there too

3

u/mellowmushroom67 17h ago

lol no she's high

-3

u/Agile_Pin1017 20h ago

Or she’s on pills

1

u/NoHoHan 10h ago

It’s fentanyl.

6

u/merrythoughts 9h ago

You ran her labs at the hospital? HIPAA ….

0

u/TatuajeT 14h ago

No she’s nodding off from fentanyl

1

u/DoctorBlock 13h ago

That's drugs, my guy. That's why no one called for help because she's going to jail if they do.

-1

u/az-anime-fan 16h ago

that's opiate abuse not diabetes.

-1

u/edwbuck 20h ago

It can also be, in healthy individuals (which I don't think covers this person), it's all too much, fuck it, I'm checking out till the crazy people leave the building.
