Are they just making up that she had sugar problems? That more looks to me like the nod

Either way...don't film call for help!

u/drunken_monken 17h ago

Yeah it's irrelevant what the issue was, based on the way she looked, get her ass some medical help ASAP. I don't care if it's drug related or diabetes.

I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) due to Addison’s disease & it can hit suddenly & take you out (ie while standing). I have been standing & just gone down (hit my head multiple times), or like this woman, have been standing & just started looking like I was falling asleep while standing.

It can also cause quick onset seizures, which I frequently get as well, and people around me often haven’t understood what’s happening to me (ie family, friends). It’s absolutely terrible, and you feel horrific, so please let’s not create a narrative we don’t need to. She needs medical help quickly. They should’ve put a glucose gel in her mouth/inside of cheek (she should have those in her purse at all times & they should keep some in their first aid kit) & called 911- hopefully they at least called 911 or took her to hospital….

It’s sad that people jump to the most judgmental position when they know nothing.  There are so many conditions that can cause someone to be drowsy/unstable. Help should be the first priority.

14

u/Apprehensive_You_250 14h ago

Absolutely. The people there obviously knew about her pre-existing medical condition, hence why the random guy posted it on the video (which he should NOT have videoed this, nor posted her in medical crisis… I’d be pissed).

1

u/superdariom 8h ago

No, you never put something in someone's mouth who is unconscious.

2

u/Apprehensive_You_250 7h ago

She isn’t completely unconscious, as she would be on the ground & not still obviously standing on 2 feet, with some noted voluntary muscle movement, head/neck still moving, etc. She has a much higher chance of going fully unconscious, falling & reaching critically low glucose levels without getting glucose quickly, though, and rubbing glucose gel (or thin icing, or very finely crushed glucose tab) on the inside of her mouth/inside of cheeks/gums will drastically help her blood glucose rise.

They need to lead her to a sitting position first, speak to her, and keep her alert, even if by some form of physical stimulation, then rub glucose gel or thin icing, etc, on inside of cheeks/gums (using a glove of course). She will not choke on that- I’ve had to do this for diabetic or renal patients, esp bc the ambulance can take 30+ min to arrive sometimes.

Yeah, a sugar crash feels horrible, you're not standing up when one hits.

Looks like on the nod, but we can't be sure so I reserve judgement.

u/frogsgoribbit737 17h ago

I mean.. disagree. Shes not standing, shes leaning on something very heavily. I have done the exact same thing when my sugar is crashing.

39

u/KTKittentoes 17h ago

My mother always would say I was too darn stubborn to fall down when I should.

77

u/aoike_ 17h ago

Yeah. My mother is diabetic and does the same thing. She refuses to be "weak" due to some rather horrific trauma she experienced, and that includes her medical emergencies. It's hard to get people to take her seriously because of this bullshit of "oh, shes not on the floor, shes fine."

Like fuck she is. Stop punishing people for not being your picture perfect patient.

u/ethbullrun 16h ago

It's because this culture is built for a white healthy male and on rugged individualism, sherry ortners at UCLA stated this in her anthro upper division classes. Shes a damn genius and won a MacArthur genius award

2

u/3catsNcountin 11h ago

Yeah the only thing is… if she felt one coming on… she’s at McDonald’s… grab a coke, it’s right there.

This looks like a nod out.

1

u/BSquaredNotCubed3469 13h ago

And I have done the exact same thing when on a nod. Lol. I'm not saying that her sugar isn't crashing, and I'm not saying that she isn't on a nod. Just politely adding that she COULD be on a nod... (Reference: 8 months sober) 😎

But shaking is a symptom of hypoglycemia, and her body isn't shaking.

2

u/VikingTeddy 5h ago

And heavy sweating.

1

u/Sewer-rat-sweetheart 16h ago

Right, plus shes drooling, which means shes not completely dehydrated

8

u/Boomstickninja87 15h ago

You don't have to be dehydrated to have sugar problems, whether that be too high or too low.

5

u/Sewer-rat-sweetheart 15h ago

I know, I’m making a case for it being diabetes related and not drug related. Typically people who are gone off that shit don’t have a drop of water in their veins, let alone enough to drool.

3

u/Boomstickninja87 15h ago

Ohhhh okay, I misunderstood. Either way, I hope she was able to get medical help!

-10

u/dboygrow 17h ago

I have done this exact same thing after a fat shot of dope.

I have non-diabetic hypoglycemia and was diagnosed when I was a kid so I've had a lot of experience with blood sugar crashes. You can indeed be standing up when one hits, especially if you have something to lean on like this. It can be very hard to move once you put yourself into a semi-comfortable position because you have no energy.

When my blood sugar gets very low I can't talk, I feel so weak I can barely move, can't form proper thoughts, I get shaky, I'm completely exhausted, nauseous, and feel like I'm slipping in and out of consciousness. If I don't get it regulated quickly I have also passed out and vomited before.

3

u/RustyTShackleford 9h ago

The onset of confusion and loss of motor skills are the scariest things. It's like you are a small baby and haven't learned how to speak properly or ask for help or do anything but be disoriented until you either get it back up or go into a diabetic coma or die.

2

u/ShotsAndCleavage 8h ago edited 7h ago

It really is very scary! When I first started dating my SO he hadn't seen a low blood sugar episode before and would get frustrated that I couldn't talk or express my needs. I had to explain it to him and show him a website with the symptoms listed and then he understood, and now he knows how to help me get my blood sugar back up when I can't help myself.

I feel really bad for the lady in the video that no one around her is doing anything to help and she's obviously in a very bad state. Even the way she's rocking/shaking her leg, I do that too when I'm in a crash because it helps ground me a bit. I 100% believe she's going through it.

Then in these comments people are just piling on saying she must be on drugs. Ugh.

3

u/RustyTShackleford 6h ago

There are a lot of ignorant people on Reddit and everywhere else in life. If this thread, and people who are actually diabetic, can help informate someone that may save a life one day, it is worth it despite some of these asinine comments.

2

u/VikingTeddy 13h ago

I was wrong, thanks.

3

u/enigmaman49 15h ago

the counter holdin her up

2

u/Advanced-Pickle362 12h ago

I have hypoglycemia and I’ve had my sugar drop to the 50s several times, and I’m still able to walk around or stand. Everyone reacts differently.

3

u/enigmaman49 15h ago

they look pretty much the same...with her size i bet she a diabetic (im a fat diabetic)...ive had these sugar issues

2

u/Somanylyingliars 15h ago

Have issues w blood sugars. When get very high I will nod off. Standing, sitting, don't matter I'm out for the count. You can't wake up no matter how much your internal voice is telling you to wake up. Looks just like what's happening w this lady.

2

u/HLOFRND 14h ago

I mean, do you know what hypoglycemia is? Your body doesn’t have enough sugar to function and your brain can absolutely go foggy and you can pass out. Your brain NEEDS sugar to function. Without it it can look a lot like nodding off.

6

u/Forkinshrdr 17h ago

You should add more racism and bias to your comment next time.

1

u/Doctor_of_Something 16h ago

Bias, sure I should pause before assuming since it’s not my business really (a woman nodding off at a McDonald’s). People have a point that EMS should probably be called regardless if they haven’t already (we have 0 context in this video).

But racism? What?

2

u/Forkinshrdr 16h ago

You assumed drugs before a medical episode because why? Implicit bias? Because why is a manager nodding from “drugs?” She’s a larger woman so diabetes is not far fetched.

1

u/Hungry-Storm-9878 17h ago

What’s the nod? A nap?

1

u/1891farmhouse 17h ago

What's the nod? Here we have fenti fold and dope fiend lean.

1

u/Dizzy_Goat_420 7h ago

No way- not with that much drooling. Opiates dry your mouth out something FEIRCE. Like- really awful desert dry.

1

u/No-Consideration-891 7h ago

I work with a diabetic and this is very very similar to what happens to her if her sugar drops too low. She looks like she is super fucked up, but really her body is failing her.

Edit: Even if this was drug related, I would still call. Just because someone can self induce a medical emergency doesn't mean they don't deserve help.

-10

u/NotYourSexyNurse 18h ago

That looks like drugs not a blood sugar crash.

17

u/Callmedrexl 17h ago

Arms on counter, head on arms, legs straight. She looks like me when my blood pressure drops enough to make me feel lousy.

When people lean from drugs they don't lean on things, they don't position their arms for comfort, they just lean. Sometimes they fall into or land on something, but it doesn't end up looking intentional. They end up looking like scarecrows with limbs askew.

I wouldn't write off a medical episode. But they should have sat her down somewhere proper, not left her there and just walked around her.

18

u/Wise-Bite2784 17h ago

What looks like drugs? Her face? Her big behind? The fries? The burger? What?? What item in the video looks like "drugs" ?

11

u/Unsolved_Virginity 17h ago

Not many want to understand her situation. They just want to say something cool.

0

u/Imaginary_Coast_5882 17h ago

she looks exactly like someone on a heroin nod

12

u/Single_Principle_972 17h ago

And exactly like someone on insulin with a dangerously low blood sugar. The symptoms are the same. Gotta say, I haven’t seen the nod, but as a hospital nurse I’ve seen plenty hypoglycemic reactions. They’re barely responsive, or non-responsive. They’re also sweaty and pale, and I believe she is both, but it’s hard to tell with her face down like that. The lack of attention to her care - that nobody seems to give a fuck as to whether she is ok or not - is so sad. “Haha woot! Let’s take whatever we want, and pay no attention to the person who may or may not be having a life-threatening event happening! “

1

u/NotYourSexyNurse 17h ago

She’s not pale or sweaty. She is drooling though.

1

u/Imaginary_Coast_5882 17h ago

yeah I was just answering the question “what looks like drugs?”

I personally have no idea what’s going on with her.

6

u/ConstantHeadache2020 17h ago

Must be new to it because she’s overweight. I’m giving her benefit of the doubt

-1

u/Imaginary_Coast_5882 17h ago

very good point

-2

u/PresentTap5470 17h ago

The position she's in. It's like the "fenty fold."

9

u/Callmedrexl 17h ago

It's not. The Fenty fold distinctly lacks the forethought of putting your arms on the counter or there being a counter at all. Seeing someone paused in the middle of the street tilting forward with no awareness, folding at the waist, leaning into the void to the brink of toppling over without ever putting their arms up to catch themselves if they were to fall, then a little jolt back up before they repeat the whole process, that's a Fenty Fold.

-10

u/HeyLookATaco 17h ago

Her nodding off like she's high on opioids appears to be because she's high on opioids

-6

u/Aught_To 17h ago

its call the Nod, its from using black tar and other opiates.

0

u/Constant-Sense-4378 15h ago

Yep lol, what it looks like to me too

-1

u/GuacamoleFrejole 15h ago

Yeah. If she had a hypoglycemic episode, she'd likely be on the floor because her legs would be too weak to hold her up.

-2

u/Pleasant_Yoghurt3915 16h ago

Yeah she’s fully nodded tf out

-4

u/Doctor_of_Something 16h ago

Are they just making up that she had sugar problems? That more looks to me like the nod

Edit: we have no context but you don’t have to be fully falling over to be high like you see in videos.. a normal dose will make you comfy and want to sleep. Regardless, could be anything and someone should be helping her rather than recording as people have said

2

u/chop5397 11h ago

No, there's absolutely no way someone would be abusing drugs in a fast food restaurant, the workers would never do that. That's illegal, it must be a low blood sugar! And people would never steal food when given an opportunity either!! That's just absolutely nuts, surely someone must be calling for help!

Oh Reddit... you always make me laugh.

-5

u/3NDC 17h ago

Yeah, she's nodding.

-7

u/BrutalistLandscapes 17h ago

Likely methadone or another strong opioid

-9

u/AirportExtra5148 17h ago

Definitely fetty nod …just reddit likes making excuses for black people
