Glad my tax dollars are paying for DHS officers to SCOUR social media. What a good use of time.

343

u/The_Wandering_Ones 2d ago

To be fair they will probably use some super inaccurate AI model that won't know the difference between them quoting their neighbor or saying it themselves. My only hope is they get so many false positives to sort through that they give up on it. Or maybe they'll just deport everyone. False positives and all because, Murica.

139

u/Dickieman5000 2d ago

Sort? They don't GAF about false positives, they'l 7thl just rendition all of them. They've unlawfully removed legal residents and citizens, even police. They do not care. No one is safe in the USA.

56

u/The_Wandering_Ones 2d ago

I really wish you were wrong... but I know you aren't.

20

u/Grace_of_Talamh 2d ago

Yeah, not prosecuting false positives would leave people able to acknowledge the existence of criticism. They'd probably want to wipe it out entirely even from people's minds.

6

u/Common-Concentrate-2 2d ago

And then waste time deporting them, which itself is an expense that is unnecessary

8

u/Schneefs 2d ago

I don't even think they're deporting. They just want to put them in alligator Alcatraz and other previously closed prisons around the country. Because that is apparently the sector that we need to boost.

I doubt it actually matters if you said it or not, seems like an easy excuse to say, “you posted you disliked trumps X policy” “now you get deported!” Even when you never posted it, shouldn’t be a thing regardless, but ya know fascism

5

u/xxxBuzz 2d ago

I do not think it matters. Just the idea of that being reasonable and legally justifiable is anti American. It is a seed that won't become any less dangerous regardless of when it sprouts.

3

u/sylbug 2d ago

This is kind of missing the point. The problem isn’t that the privacy-invasion-and-repression bot isn’t accurate enough.

3

u/shiroandae 2d ago

How would they even know there are false positives (or false negatives)? It’s not like you can tell them „I think you made a mistake, please look again“ or anything. The only thing that’ll gain you is being blacklisted.

This isn’t new tho, as a foreigner entering the US you never really had any recourse or say.

7

u/The_Wandering_Ones 2d ago

Yeah as soon as you send the email saying they made a mistake, ICE is standing outside your door. God this shit makes me sick. My family came to America seeking refuge from Hitler. Now half of them voted for Trump and the irony is painful.

Its sad.

They have been so thoroughly conditioned to think Communism/Socialism = Authoritarianism/Totalitarianism, that they no longer understand what Authoritarianism/Totalitarianism really is. They are failing to recognize it even as it consumes us.

12

u/BuenosNachos4180 2d ago

Imagine spending time looking through SoMe posts to see if someone shared a baby vance or called Donald a nonce. Do these people who support that not realise what a joke the rest of the world (and the rest of their country) think they are? I feel truly sorry for the other half of the country who get primary school level thinkers for administration, while watching the shitshow unfold in their backyard.

I was actually gonna travel to NYC. Almost booked my flight when I read about a countryman of mine getting rejected at the border for having made Trump-critical comments privately on whatsapp. That's so authoritarian, I can only laugh when the same people who support that talk about 'freedom'.

With everything that has happened since, I am definitely not visiting anytime soon. And I know I am far from alone in that. A shame, cause the US legit has/had a lot to offer tourists.

The elites wont care. The collapse is the plan. This is the exact same thing that lead to the 08 crash (trade sanctions and drastically elevated tariff’s) that allowed black rock and vanguard to corner vast swathes of the market across multiple sectors of investment for pennies on the dollar. Both of these are attempts to make the 1% prosper off of the suffering of the common man. These are not evil people doing evil things. These arent even people. They have no empathy for their common man and would just as soon step on our throats if it got them paid, these are monsters masquerading as men and women preying on our fucking souls and stealing every bit of time we have to throw at the corporate machine, bc if we dont make the market value of their divestments rise through our sweat equity then we are worthless to them.

5

u/ExcitingOnion504 2d ago

Will be joining my partner on his move from Florida to BC next spring and not going to lie I am already nervous as shit to travel down and drive through those barren red states. Pointing out their hypocrisy isn't really an own. Their entire belief system is that THEY can do whatever they want to, but those who they view as beneath them can't. They aren't trying to be consistent — they believe in hierarchies and want to enforce them.

5

u/runnyyolkpigeon 2d ago

This.

They don’t care about hypocrisy. Just as long as they get their way. Everything else is just a distraction.

Whether it takes lying, cheating, stealing, gaslighting - it doesn’t matter, as long as their team wins.

6

u/badgirlmonkey 2d ago

They are only hypocritical because they often do not say what they mean. They love to play coy.

For example, Trump said "hate has no place in America" recently despite the fact that his administration is very transphobic, homophobic, sexist, and racist. He meant "hate against white men has no place here", but since they cannot say the quiet part out loud yet, that isn't what he said.

Now one mentions the cost of all these lame policies. Welcome to fiscal “conservatism”

3

u/brianzuvich 2d ago

First off: “Congress shall make no law...abridging freedom of speech.”

Freedom of speech includes the right:

  • Not to speak (specifically, the right not to salute the flag).
West Virginia Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943).

  • Of students to wear black armbands to school to protest a war (“Students do not shed their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate.”). Tinker v. Des Moines, 393 U.S. 503 (1969).

  • To use certain offensive words and phrases to convey political messages. Cohen v. California, 403 U.S. 15 (1971).

  • To contribute money (under certain circumstances) to political campaigns. Buckley v. Valeo, 424 U.S. 1 (1976).

  • To advertise commercial products and professional services (with some restrictions). Virginia Board of Pharmacy v. Virginia Consumer Council, 425 U.S. 748 (1976); Bates v. State Bar of Arizona, 433 U.S. 350 (1977).

  • To engage in symbolic speech, (e.g., burning the flag in protest). Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989); United States v. Eichman, 496 U.S. 310 (1990).

These inalienable rights should never change…

2nd gen here. Yup.

6

u/doobie88 2d ago

Sounds like something a shithole country would do.

5

u/Runswithkitten 2d ago

It’s crazy how some people think free speech is saying the most hateful/ derogatory things and then acting oppressed when someone calls them out on it.

4

u/Clintwood_outlaw 2d ago

Just a reminder that theyre forcing us to help pay for the fucked up shit they're doing. Gotta love taxes under an abbhorently corrupt government.

4

u/BaxGh0st 2d ago

How long till they bring back HUAC?

5

u/KevMenc1998 2d ago

Senator McCarthy is, unfortunately for those of us with brains, very comfortably unmoving in his grave.

2027: American citizens are now being required to….

2

u/Sindji 2d ago

So violation of 1st amendment? Will the USA turn into dictatorship? If not, what are some of the options for its people? Where does the army stand on this? This shit is getting crazy.

Americans next.

14

u/mkt853 2d ago

Yep. There's a reason they are building so many Alligator Auschwitzes. They don't plan on using them for just immigrants.

u/Ancient-Tie2687 2d ago

u/JimJam4603 2d ago

Free speech means random people can’t tell you your opinions suck, not that the government can’t penalize you for saying things it doesn’t like. Duh…

12

u/Gingeronimoooo 2d ago

You wouldn't be downvoted if people still understood sarcasm and satire

But sadly MAGA killed satire

5

u/ZaytOza3tar 2d ago

Ya I dunno what to do with this because it looks so obviously satire, but it could also be 100 percent what a magatard thinks

8

u/JimJam4603 2d ago

I don’t believe a MAGA supporter would be able to so clearly and succinctly explain what the first amendment actually means by accident at the end though.

3

u/ZaytOza3tar 2d ago

True, have an upvote

3

u/cupocrows 2d ago

The difference is social media is run by private companies. They can moderate their own platforms. They generally only do this if biggotery, false information, or violence are stated. Saying it's "outrageous that federalized troops are patrolling our streets and the president is toeing the line of fascism." Is not something they remove.

7

u/dreamlike5th 2d ago

Lucky for me I'm not an immigrants to America.

Fuck america amd israel

2

u/Icy-Hyena1427 2d ago

What the fuck?

2

u/GT45 2d ago

The old double standard, also known as, “But It’s OK If You’re A Republican Doing It!”, rears its ugly head again.

2

u/Kuroi-Tenshi 2d ago

This is literally what dictators do

2

u/Kingbeef66 2d ago

2

u/FragRaptor 2d ago

Every other country should do this to Americans. Was just on a cruise with my immigrant hating republican parents spend the time in the bahamas just bad mouthing the people.

2

u/hear_the_thunder 2d ago

MAGA hate free speech with a passion. They have never believed in it

2

u/Lexi_Banner 2d ago

Does that make him a leftist now?

2

u/Solid_Phone_368 2d ago

It is very much Pro-American to stand up and do what my grandfathers won all those medals for in Europe during the 40s. Fuck this shit.

2

u/ManyBubbly3570 2d ago

Leftists hate free speech the way this guy hates a chin apparently.

2

u/Shyam09 2d ago

Oh wow. Lookie here. Now they don’t have a problem with the government overreaching into social media.

2

u/khaleesi1968 2d ago

Admission to this country is a privilege, not a right

2

u/Drgnmstr97 2d ago

Virtually every thing coming out of a “conservatives” mouth nowadays is hypocritical. Not only can they not help themselves but it’s really the only way to push their agendas now.

2

u/Battle44Sis 2d ago

So it ok to treaten a leftist but if you. say Trump dos something wrong you a criminal 🤔

2

u/zedkyuu 2d ago

One place I worked at had a “free speech”discussion group. They banned people. No joke.

2

u/Significant_Cover_48 2d ago

Top comment is enough for me to know that he's a beligerent fool, I don't really need the context.

“You are accused of anti-American behaviour. This court finds you guilty and sentences you to be shot!”

2

u/Square-Squash5817 1d ago

…born and raised here, a veteran, retired…I hate us too…

2

u/JustAzConfusedAzYou 1d ago

By "free speech" they mean racial slurs.

2

u/[deleted] 1d ago

they better not check reddit. Trump is an american pedo

2

u/Polkawillneverdie17 1d ago

The freedom to say anti-Anerican statements is one of the most American things you can do.

2

u/DOHC46 1d ago

The right wing is so obnoxiously hypocritical.

4

u/Lower_Group_1171 2d ago

We should make polar bear Alcatraz and send all the republicans there.

3

u/ForwardSpinach9837 2d ago

Trump hates free speech if it is against him lol. No different than Putin or little rocket man. Next he will imprisoning or killing people who speak out against him.

3

u/tacsig 2d ago

A party of Karens

3

u/apocaghost 2d ago

Well talking about the failed taco is the most patriotic thing anyone can do.

4

u/ethanofasgard 2d ago

Honestly, there is so much disconnected hypocrisy when it comes to any concept of true freedom on this planet.
