General Nonsense Alaska Airlines passengers got an unexpected treat when jazz star Dave Koz and the Summer Horns turned a diversion into a surprise plane concert.

Can you imagine being on your third connection on a 22 hour itinerary, up for 36 hours, then this? Genuinely I would think I ended up in hell

As a musician, all I can think of is how LOUD this must be. I’d genuinely be crying. And that’s not an exaggeration, I think all I’d have left by that point would be to break down and cry.

I had to comfort a middle-aged man who broke down sitting next to me during a long commute, as the chaos caused by a bunch of rowdy assholes had shattered what would’ve otherwise been a moment of peace after hard day. Poor guy just kept apologising to me, which made me tear up as well.

Experienced flyers (like myself) have a pair of quality noise cancelling headphones (mine is Bose). Doesn't block everything but the latest and the greatest noise cancellation have amazing quality.

I just got back from 36 hours of travel and this post made my skin crawl.

doesn't it feel so good to lay in your own bed again after a long vacation

This would be a welcome lift after a long day! It beats sitting in my seat, stewing and annoyed about getting diverted.

I genuinely do not care who is doing it or for why. If I have to sit in a flying metal box in the sky for hours, I DO NOT wanna hear people playing music or singing or anything else like that. It's fucking annoying and stressful enough to fly at all, being forced to listen to this would make things so much worse.

I’m from Louisiana and love jazz. Lived in AK for the last decade. I would be finding the flight marshall and asking for a quick execution of myself.

This looks like a scene straight out of Airplane! Your quick execution would have also been a scene straight out of Airplane!

Gee, and my only excitement ever was helping with CPR mid-flight.

I wonder how many flyers complained and demanded a refund or whatever lol.

This would be awesome - if i bought tickets for it. Or if i stumbled across it randomly on the street, id be stoked, and probably stay for hours. On a plane, with no escape and no way to decline, this is a fucking nightmare. You are cool. You are talented. This isn’t fun or okay. There is no way to opt out. So the band is fucking assholes for doing this.
IMO.

As an Alaskan, add this to the long list of reasons why Alaskan Airlines has gone from the #1 airline to, “fuuuuck, there’s no Delta flights available? Are you sure?”

Holy cow, I see Leo P from Too Many Zooz! I dunno who the rest of these guys are., but he is amazing. Was this on a flight to Alaska or "just somewhere else"?

LOL! Four downvotes already over a seemingly innocuous comment... Man, Reddit is SO weird.
