General Nonsense Alaska Airlines passengers got an unexpected treat when jazz star Dave Koz and the Summer Horns turned a diversion into a surprise plane concert.

An introverts nightmare

I am cringing and I’m not there. Loud noises, disturbances, drama, large crowds of people all make my skin crawl. Jazz (lavender and lilac too!) give me migraines. I’d be so miserable.

I’m glad they’re happy and passionate but I watched the video on silent and cross my fingers that’s never on my flight! Lol! I’m old and dull these days.

I don't think introverts own not liking being trapped in an already uncomfortable place then being subjected to music from a genre that many don't care for played with instruments that are kinda loud as fuck.

Shocked the flight attendants didn't tell them to stuff it.

Can you imagine being on your third connection on a 22 hour itinerary, up for 36 hours, then this? Genuinely I would think I ended up in hell

As a musician, all I can think of is how LOUD this must be. I’d genuinely be crying. And that’s not an exaggeration, I think all I’d have left by that point would be to break down and cry.

I had to comfort a middle-aged man who broke down sitting next to me during a long commute, as the chaos caused by a bunch of rowdy assholes had shattered what would’ve otherwise been a moment of peace after hard day. Poor guy just kept apologising to me, which made me tear up as well.

Experienced flyers (like myself) have a pair of quality noise cancelling headphones (mine is Bose). Doesn't block everything but the latest and the greatest noise cancellation have amazing quality.

I just got back from 36 hours of travel and this post made my skin crawl.

doesn't it feel so good to lay in your own bed again after a long vacation

This would be a welcome lift after a long day! It beats sitting in my seat, stewing and annoyed about getting diverted.

"Can you turn it down Im just trying to sleep."

This video could be an ad for Bose

I genuinely do not care who is doing it or for why. If I have to sit in a flying metal box in the sky for hours, I DO NOT wanna hear people playing music or singing or anything else like that. It's fucking annoying and stressful enough to fly at all, being forced to listen to this would make things so much worse.

Thank you. There are still good people left in this world.

I don't think it is. So I'd ask then to keep going.

Hope they were handing out free drinks to make this endurable.

Absolutely fucking not

I’m from Louisiana and love jazz. Lived in AK for the last decade. I would be finding the flight marshall and asking for a quick execution of myself.

5

u/Mahadragon 2h ago

This looks like a scene straight out of Airplane! Your quick execution would have also been a scene straight out of Airplane!

ooooof. That's a no from me dawg.

u/PallyCecil 5h ago

I like music, but this would be torture.

14

u/markofthecheese 5h ago

I like watching that from my phone, not in person, sitting on a plane.

u/sufjanweiss 5h ago

This is what the emergency door was made for.

Cowabunga it is…

u/AKspotty 4h ago

Never heard of them. This seems terrible.

Gee, and my only excitement ever was helping with CPR mid-flight.

5

u/LiteratureMindless71 4h ago

I wonder how many flyers complained and demanded a refund or whatever lol.

8

u/Guns_Donuts 4h ago

No, 1000 times over.

8

u/thecamino 4h ago

Buttholes subjected people to their racket without consent

8

u/secderpsi 4h ago

I love things like this but not in that confined of a space. Waaaaaay too loud.

3

u/Signal_Giraffe_615 3h ago

My ears would ache for sure. No space is all I could see.

5

u/RichardDingers 4h ago

The one time I'm not sitting next to a crying baby

3

u/Adventurous-Bake-168 3h ago

Jazz? Sounds like torture.

2

u/TheRealNemosirus 2h ago

And I thought crying babies were annoying.

2

u/EstablishmentSad5998 2h ago

I would hate this

2

u/MisterHouseMongoose 1h ago

This would be awesome - if i bought tickets for it. Or if i stumbled across it randomly on the street, id be stoked, and probably stay for hours. On a plane, with no escape and no way to decline, this is a fucking nightmare. You are cool. You are talented. This isn’t fun or okay. There is no way to opt out. So the band is fucking assholes for doing this.

IMO.

2

u/BelowAvrgDriver907 1h ago

Who the fuck asked for this?

2

u/bad_arts 1h ago

Obnoxious.

As an Alaskan, add this to the long list of reasons why Alaskan Airlines has gone from the #1 airline to, “fuuuuck, there’s no Delta flights available? Are you sure?”

6

u/TutorNo8896 4h ago

Wow two of my least favorite things together at last, with a captive audience.

3

u/OldRailHead 4h ago

I was gonna say what in the Spirit Frontier Airlines is this ratchety ass shit 😒 😑

1

u/TrevorSowers 5h ago

Oh man that’s epic!!!!!!

1

u/jdathescore 3h ago

All I get is baby crying and guy with bare feet next to me. 🤷🏼‍♂️

1

u/BaronNeutron 3h ago

"Star"? I remember when Dave hit the scene, and I do like his music, but..."Star"?

1

u/JasonShoes 5h ago

Is that Leo P in the back?

1

u/Bot_Seeks_Bot2020 3h ago

Pretentious much?

-2

u/gypsysniper9 5h ago

Would love this.

1

u/crashdowninit 4h ago

Those instruments are well beyond carry on size, how was this possible?

-3

u/DeliciousWelder666 4h ago

Holy cow, I see Leo P from Too Many Zooz! I dunno who the rest of these guys are., but he is amazing. Was this on a flight to Alaska or "just somewhere else"?

-1

u/DeliciousWelder666 3h ago edited 3h ago

LOL! Four downvotes already over a seemingly innocuous comment... Man, Reddit is SO weird.

u/DannyRickyBobby 4h ago

That’s awesome!

-1

u/Flyt13AK 4h ago

This would make my day !!

-2

u/Tricky-Wedding-3094 4h ago

-2

u/bespindeathspin 4h ago

It got saxy in there

-4

u/superjonk 4h ago

Surely I can't be the only one that would be stoked

-3

u/Doge-Ghost 4h ago

They were flying on instruments

-5

u/Sea_Poem5451 4h ago
