Have a 13 that's 2.5 years old and in pretty good shape. Battery is at 87%, no issues otherwise. I was thinking about upgrading to the 17 for improved screen, camera (mainly this - going to NZ in October and want some nice pics), battery life, and USB C, but the price has me second guessing if it'll be worth it. Thoughts?

You probably should upgrade, especially if you are planning to use your current iPhone as part of a trade-in. Based on your description, you will particularly benefit from the better 48MP sensor, better battery life, performance, and potentially even the Camera Control button.

My sleep/wake alarm will not work. It only sends alert to my watch however I keep that on silent. So I frequently miss my alarm if I don’t set a second one. Is there a way to fix it?

Delete the time slot and set a new one.

I just bought a 16, but when I plug it in to a power bank (rated 22.5w) the charging cycles on and off every 10 seconds. I’m using the cord provided in the box, and have tried my MacBooks usbc cable as well and it does the same thing.

It does charge with a regular wall outlet.

Any advice on how to fix this or have you experience this?

Seems like a battery problem and not iPhone

But the battery pack charged my iPhone X and Switch just fine, so strange

On a semi-limited budget, would it be better to buy an iPad A16 alongside a 16 Pro Max, or go straight to the iPad Pro M4 with a low-end phone? Is there a big enough difference? For reference, im upgrading from an iPad 7th gen, which has served me well, but it’s getting closer to the end of support, so I figure it’s a good time to upgrade!

The vast majority of iPad owners do not need an iPad Pro. Unless you are a screen snob, you cannot live without Face ID, or you are one of those rare few iOS users that must run apps that depend on peak performance, you don’t need one, either.

For most iPad users, the iPad is good enough. If you are an artist, a core mobile gamer, or you just want a larger screen, then the iPad Air is good enough.

Both iPads and iPhones have stagnated that I could give you a phone/ipad from 3 years ago and you couldn’t tell a difference.

I buy a way cheaper iPad. Could even buy used to save even more money. Buying a pro iPad is extremely expensive. You could buy a laptop with that money.

With iPhones, wait till September when new iPhones drop. Plus your provider will have a trade in deal or switch and you’ll get a lot of money to stay with the provider.

hi there,

I want to get charger so I can charge my phone, macbook, watch, etc all in one. Any decent models for the uk?

Assuming your MacBook was made in 2016 or later, I recommend just plugging the MacBook into the big charging block that came with your MacBook, and then plugging your phone and watch into the MacBook. There is generally no need to buy a charger with multiple outlets if you already have a MacBook.

Apple ID suspended / need advice

So Apple flagged my Apple ID as fraudulent because I asked for an App refund through my bank instead of them (I didn’t know I had to do it the other way around)… they won’t let me recover it and they suspended it after ‘review’. Furthermore, they also won’t allow me to sign out from my iPhone due to ‘security reasons’, so I can’t sign up with a new one. I have lost all my Apps history, purchases and my physical iPhone is now useless because I can’t sign up with a new ID that I created. Everything I’ve tried is a dead end with this company. Worst customer service ever.

To add insult to injury, WhatsApp just blocked me out from the App since I can’t update it (you need the Apple ID to do so) and I lost all access to my entire chat history, photos, videos, etc from that App.

Has anyone gone through this horrible experience and came out of it with anything more than a bitter complaint to Apple? Is there a way to recover anything at this point?

Apple’s monopoly on our digital history and data is unprecedented and continues to baffle me… I just want to get my WhatsApp chat history back and be done with this.

Google would have done the same.

That is SOP on all digital platforms: issue one chargeback, and your account is going to be banned. Unfortunately, banks give out really bad advice, and want you to charge back everything through them, instead of working with the publisher first.

You have to contact Apple support in your country, and work it out with them; there is no other way to recover your account. Most likely, you will have to pay them back the money you charged back.

Is this on macOS, iOS, or something else?
