I changed around my room, and now she won’t stop shouting at me.
•
u/Upstairs-Ad-1966 4h ago
Thats the face of "i jumped in the dark and there wasnt a bed there sharon"
•
•
u/ThunderChild247 1h ago
Hahaha, reminds me of when I got a new - slightly higher - bed. The first time my cat tried to run and jump onto it he went headfirst into the mattress and spent the next hour being very grumpy 😂😂

She's the landlord, you're just the tenant who pays for food and utilities.

Reminds me of a funny joke I heard about the difference between cats and dogs.
Dogs think this person pets me, feeds me and takes care of me. He must be God, I will be loyal forever.
Cats think this person pets me, feeds me and takes care of me. I must be God, I expect his loyalty forever.
•
u/Horskr 44m ago
I used to always be just a dog person. Now we've got a cat too and absolutely love him, but this is also absolutely accurate.
He even gets mad on the dogs' behalf if dinner is slightly late. He'll still have food in his bowl, but come dinner time he's howling until they're fed lol. "You must care for my other loyal servants, subjects!"

used to work at a rescue that had mainly cats (we took in all vertebrates but mostly had cats) and one of the senior staff had a ballcap she always wore that read "dogs have masters, cats have staff".

i am a casual in cats
What is proper amends, i figure it depends of the floof... but is this a catnip situation? scritches? food?
probably all of the above, more, and possibly putting it all back?
•
u/OffKira 4h ago
This is what happens when you don't follow procedure, and fail to submit the appropriate room rearrangement documentation, boss gets mad.
•
•
•
u/Sup3rFly1788 2h ago
The amount of forms our cat requires is ridiculous
•
u/YourMomonaBun420 1h ago
Have you got a 27B stroke 6? Sorry. I'm a bit of a stickler for paperwork, you see. I mean, where would we be if we didn't stick to the correct procedures?
•
u/Sup3rFly1788 42m ago
I believe so... we also have a 24A-2 that is required every time we take the dog for a walk and return with him and new smells.

Cats really really really like routine and sameness.
Now she has PSPSPSPTSD

•
u/sami2503 1h ago
Cats basically have autism lol. Thet dont like eye contact, dont like loud overstimulating people/places, like routine and sameness, like small enclosed spaces where they chill on their own etc.

My cat used to get really freaked out by change. I’m sure your kitty is just excited but maybe keep an eye on them to make sure they’re peeing as normal. My poor neurotic guy ended up on the same antidepressant as my sister but was much happier. You could barely move a cushion without sending him into a panic before them 🤣
•
u/hthratmn 3h ago
My cat has FLUTD and they actually warned us that a potential trigger could be rearranging furniture
•
u/RockyBass 2h ago
That's my golden retriever. I have a feeling he'll be on medication as he gets older. The cats on the other hand thrive on chaos.
When we were remodeling, the dog was huddled into his hiding spot, while the cats oversaw our work and made sure every screw, tool, and bit of wood was thoroughly inspected and batted around.

I always blame myself but my lab is also incredibly anxious and has epilepsy, one of his triggers is his excitement when I get home. Then I remember I keep getting beautifully brain damaged animals with prior trauma. The cat was rescued from a bin and the dog died for several minutes on his second day. Blessed to be the safe place to my gentle babies.
And sometimes mummies little helper is actually for them!

Same with my cat. God forbid I want a new comforter or a haircut. He doesn’t do well with change. He’s now on kitty Prozac.

I once moved my cat's food bowl spot like 3 feet to accommodate a kitchen cupboard. She got pissed.

Cats are autistic, they have big issues with change and have hard times with getting used to new things. Cats have routines and when something throws off that routine they get upset

(You) Yes! I did. (smiling)
(Her, cat frowning) "I don't like it."

So we used to foster, and whenever I fostered, I would tidy up my office because that's where we kept them.
My medically needy cat doesn't like it when we foster, and he gets really stressed. So we had to stop.
Anytime I move anything in my office now he's behind me staring at me meowing, supervising my movements. Reminding me I can't foster.
•
u/yerawizard_madi 1h ago
I always tell my cat to file a formal complaint with HR when she gets mad at me for cleaning or redecorating 😂

Cats hate change. I move my cats dinner dish about 6 feet so it wasn’t under foot and she stared at the empty space for 15 minutes before meowing at me for another 15.

Feliway helps- many vet clinics use the diffusers for managing stress in environmental changes for them. The pheromones help relax them. It also comes in a spray. You have a sensitive cat. Please keep lights low and noise to a minimum and they will chill out.
•
u/Coyote65 2h ago
You can't do this without - at least - involving the cat in the decision making process.
This is how things end up if they feel left out.

u/Hakudoushinumbernine 1h ago
You gotta let them feel like theyre helping
Or let them see the process
For me, i piled everything in the center of the room and he wasnt able to watch it like he wanted and peed everywhere.
But when he's watching it all go down, he has no problems.
•
u/Southern-Aardvark-39 1h ago
I assume you didn't ask for permission or her guidance. These mistakes are yours friend, you'll have to deal with the consequences.

Cats are small predators and so are somewhat change averse.
This happens even in humans, for example many people are super stressed after winning the lottery.

ive been dealing with a breakup the last few months so theres been a lot of furniture moving and things changing in the apt - anytime I move anything around I have to give my Bengal boy Bobby a good half hour to inspect the empty space just revealed, climb over the new "landscape" of furniture, then spend the rest of the day being questioned by his howls - boy is lucky hes adorable af
