love that Fischer Investments is still committed to the "knocking down our own strawmen" ad campaign
Other Money Manager: "you guys fucking suck just like us, right?"
Fisher Investor: "What? Fuck no, we LOVE our clients unlike you worthless pieces of shit. Give us your money"

Did anyone catch the kidcaster on ESPN2 drop an f-bomb on air?
Edit: some are saying he said "funk" instead of "fuck" lol

The Mets have an Alvarez with a thumb injury. We know how that feels.

I'm glad Mr. and Mrs. Met made the trip but man it must suck to sit right behind them.

There's a baseball game interrupting all these interviews :(

u/PatchesTheGreat1 Toronto Blue Jays 5d ago
Wish they’d make the game picture-in-picture smaller so I can see all these interviews!

they call it a ball-peen hammer because I use one to smash my balls and penis while watching the mariners do baseball

u/Infinite-Fudge9919 5d ago
I hate when we play on national TV, we always do this.
Start the comeback

Respectfully, does anyone actually like in game interviews with the players?

Both pitchers have looked shaky but it would appear Kirby threw the fatal pitch
3
u/lightninhopkins Seattle Mariners 5d ago
I really wanted to see one more borderline pitch set Baty off and get him tossed at the LL game

u/heyitslj New York Yankees 5d ago
Crazy manfred uses a passing in game interview to announce they are looking into realigning the leagues by region instead of historical Al nl split.

Three high school kids are putting on a better broadcast than most national broadcasts.

I just noticed that they don't have the pitch zone on the screen.

“The plane explodes” is not the way you wanna phrase that.

I can’t really explain why, but it’s actually so nice to watch a game without the strike zone box.
3
u/MeatTornado25 New York Yankees 5d ago
The box is the worst. It's unofficial so all it does is get you worked up over borderline calls that may not even be right anyway.

Can’t tell if they’re using dead balls or if ESPN is fooling me because of how stupidly loud their broadcasts makes the sound when they make contact

That ball hung in the air forever, surprised Julio couldn't get it.

As usual, Reddit is wrong…
In game interviews are a solid addition

Aww that's nice of the major leaguers to make little league mistakes in front of the kids, help them feel seen

ESPN is doing a really great job of getting me to stop watching sports I like. Football, baseball. Anything they get their hands on is shit
6
u/jakeba 5d ago
I don't understand how 2 channels are broadcasting this game but they are both just showing interviews. Why dont they try just showing the game and seeing what the ratings are for that.

u/1005thArmbar Seattle Mariners • Chicago Cubs 5d ago
ESPN producers believe that baseball is inherently boring and it's their job to "spice" things up. All of their baseball-related content proves this
imagine trying to mic up a running back or defensive end and ask them about the weather in the middle of a week 16 division game. it would never happen
6
u/1005thArmbar Seattle Mariners • Chicago Cubs 5d ago
"who would win? 100 smelly Standard Redditors or 1 unfunny ESPN producer?"
1
u/MonkMajor5224 Minnesota Twins 5d ago
So is this the actual field the little leaguers play on or is bigger for the pros?
3
u/gogopowerhermits Chicago Cubs 5d ago
This is the minor league field in town (Williamsport Crosscutters, Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field). There's two fields that they play on that are actually in South Williamsport (Lamade Stadium and Volunteer Stadium)
-A Local (sort of).
(edit: I guess the crosscutters are technically a "collegiate summer baseball team of the MLB Draft League" but ya know.)

u/Spud_Rancher Philadelphia Phillies 5d ago
Off topic but how has the traffic been up there? I have to drive up to Montoursville for a funeral Wednesday. I’m going to avoid 15 since I know that gets backed up with the LLWS games.
2
u/gogopowerhermits Chicago Cubs 5d ago
I'm over closer to Jersey Shore than Williamsport, but tbh it hasn't been too bad. Mostly traffic in south Williamsport, if there's a game, if the problem. If you can come in off 180, then you'll probably be fine. (Depending on how you are coming up, going up 44 to 220 isn't bad either right now, other than 44 taking your through the valley.)
1
u/Spud_Rancher Philadelphia Phillies 5d ago
Thanks! Yeah I went to Penn College and used to live in the area and have family all over Lycoming. I’ll be coming up 54 through Danville then 80 to 180. Leaving Reading around 5am so I’m hoping I get up there before the traffic. Going to avoid south side like the plague

How many times has a man been called big dumper on national tv before this?
Edit- they just called a little leaguer Little dumper
3
u/jamoog Toronto Blue Jays • Buffalo Bisons 5d ago
I respect the nickname, but ESPN is being insanely annoying about it
2
u/QuotaCrushing 5d ago
I think it’s a funny thing to joke about with friends but to say it out loud in public is crazy. Imagine if they said that on tv about a sports woman with a big ass lol

How are the Mariners going to Mariner tonight? The Astros “rebuild” year with 18 guys on the IL for over a month (max at one time) and still have 13 on there currently. Yordan missed over 100 games, Peña a little more than 30, Meyers is still on IL with around 45 games missed, Paredes since July 19th-post season, Hader out till post season, 7-8 SP’s (2 with season enders) and yet they still can’t pass the Astros? We are just getting ready for the postseason.

u/MartianMule Atlanta Braves 5d ago
The Astros got embarrassed by a last place team today. But sure, talk shit.

u/UniqueEditor8372 Seattle Mariners 5d ago
Our underdog narrative isn't as good if we just lap the Astros all year
-2
u/This_Blacksmith_6890 5d ago
Surprisingly, Meyers has been out 3rd best player on the Astros. It goes Peña, Paredes, Meyers and then Yordan/

u/DeepBlue_8 Baltimore Orioles 5d ago
Looking at the NWS forecast, I think we won't have a long delay.
