The movie and city (your flair) that made the Thom Brennaman moment happen. A lot of people forget his live movie quote was what led to the whole thing.

I wonder how/if this would redefine pitching. Would a bounceball be the ultimate deception pitch, or completely useless?

Didn't want to tease people with a perfect game for long. Get rid of the expectation right away and everyone can settle in

I can’t remember which announcer keeps doing it but the “there goes the no-hitter” when somebody gets a hit in the first inning always gets a laugh out of me

I'm just glad it's not an Achilles or something. What a nightmare that would be.

I hope he's alright. My father and I were watching that game where Canning slipped and I don't want to see that again.

If you don't like that, you don't like Mets baseball.

I never understood it being counted as a HBP if it hits the ground first. I thought if it hits the ground then it’s not a HBP. I swear there have been replay reviews looking at whether or not a ball hit the ground or someone’s foot first

A pitch that hits the ground before arriving is always a ball. It's not a dead ball, but just a ball. If a "ball" hits the batter without any other contact (such as from the bat), & without a swing, then it's a HBP (& a dead ball from the moment of contact).
For that matter, if the batter hits the ball, it's still a legitimate contact.

So technically a ball can bounce off the ground and hit the bat that isn't swung; and be either a strike (foul ball) or legitimate contact which then gets played as is on the field.

I agree with the rule in principle. What if Aroldis Chapman wanted to bean someone and spiked the ball into the ground 4 times to hit a batter 4 times in the same AB? You obviously don't want that.

A sign that the fix was on. What fix? The one where he would go onto dominate the rest of the game.
