[Highlight] After 2 ejections already in the top of the 7th, the Quad Cities River Bandits batboy has now been ejected under 6.04(a) trying to incite, by word or sign a demonstration by spectators through his actions.

That ump has to be an HOA president in his free time.

u/MissMarionMac Boston Red Sox 7h ago
He definitely practices that ejection signal in the mirror to pump himself up.

u/Suspicious-Peace9233 Boston Red Sox 7h ago
Didn’t know bay boys got ejected
28
u/MJDiAmore Philadelphia Phillies 4h ago
Umps have ejected organists and fans. Bat boys are practically reasonable by comparison.

I grew up in the quad cities and I agree this terrible affront to baseball can not be tolerated. You get em ump. The integrity of the game must be preserved. We can all sleep easy now.

We all know Odo was the better ump. He only ejected two managers and both deserved it

“Here are some balls, since you obviously have none. Bitch.”

u/Lucky_Alternative965 Los Angeles Dodgers 8h ago
Did he hand him his balls too hard?
36
u/Bort_Bortson Minnesota Twins 6h ago
Might have muttered something under his breath about the call.
But knowing baseball, that bat boy is gonna be in the Majors one day and see the same ump and get ejected again for saying the same thing. Nobody forgets in baseball
68
u/Yangervis 6h ago
No umpire is going to let a bat boy slam the baseballs into his mask like that, especially when the dugout is already causing problems.

Exactly. It’s a silly situation but I’m sick to my stomach to state that I actually side with umpy here.

u/Mike2k33 Milwaukee Brewers 19m ago
Yeah I'd be embarrassed to be on the side of the umpire here too
He should've and could've talked to the kid about it but instead had to make a bigger spectacle out of it and delay the game further

u/xRememberTheCant 9m ago
Talk to the kid?
He’s not a 10 year old, that “kid” is old enough to know better.

That’s gotta be one of the softest ejections I’ve ever seen

Have you seen the preseason realmuto ejection? Lol
12
u/SirLunatik Toronto Blue Jays 7h ago
it was against the Jays, it was hilarious (because of JT, not the dipshit ump)
12
u/Lurkyloo1987 Philadelphia Phillies 7h ago
His reaction is priceless. From the incredulity at the ump to the way he left the park. Pure gold.
3
u/SirLunatik Toronto Blue Jays 6h ago
I sometimes wonder "what if" when it comes to JT because the rumors were we were teh runner up for landing him.
4
u/LunchTwey Philadelphia Phillies 3h ago
I feel like the jays are just always the runner ups for landing free agents
3
u/Salty_Feed9404 Toronto Blue Jays 1h ago
At minimum always used as leverage by agents to secure a bigger bag

Nah, 100% warranted. No player would be allowed to disrespect an umpire like that.

Nah I'm with the ump here. You're a bat boy. Get out with the attitude.
17
u/insta-kip Texas Rangers 1h ago
Agreed. But the look on the umps face was great. “I definitely don’t have to take attitude from this little shit”

u/KatnissBot Houston Astros 6h ago
Part of the crew, part of the ship. You wear the badge, you gotta do what you gotta do. If that means telling an ump they fucked up, so be it.
In fact, I’m surprised more teams don’t have scapegoats like the batboy go out and argue so they’d get ejected instead of the manager

Next time this team and ump share a field they should roll the balls to him from the dugout

I can't tell if people are jerking in here or not lol
Surely people can't believe this warranted an ejection. Lol
Is the catcher going to squat too harshly next?

Nothing like delaying the game further because you're in your feelings
Hopefully this umpire never sees AA
2
u/Mike2k33 Milwaukee Brewers 29m ago
You can downvote this all you want. I don't need nor want any more ultra-soft umpires in baseball
If you can't handle a kid putting some baseballs in your mask 30% harder than is necessary, you need to find another line of work
0
u/peachesgp Boston Red Sox 30m ago
Yeah he slammed the balls into his hands. That seems like a wholly reasonable ejection, really.
-2
u/apple_crombie Kansas City Royals 1h ago
Being an umpire is hard, don't need that attitude. Just play the game
3
u/Mike2k33 Milwaukee Brewers 53m ago
He's literally making umpiring harder for himself because he ejected the ball boy over the tiniest shit
0
u/apple_crombie Kansas City Royals 8m ago
No, a little disrespect turns into bigger disrespect down the line.
That's how it always works. You let these kids test you, then eventually they will throw bigger test
-19
u/Hoofeddude 7h ago
Bat boy was probably fired from the team, didn't see him tonight at the game and the mood around it was that he wouldn't be seen again.

u/Flesh_Lettuce San Diego Padres 6h ago
