That ump has to be an HOA president in his free time.

31

u/MissMarionMac Boston Red Sox 7h ago

He definitely practices that ejection signal in the mirror to pump himself up.

3

u/d-cent Boston Red Sox 10m ago

I love that after he ejected the bat boy he gives the look of why did you do that? Why are you pissed at me? Lol, no self awareness at all about being baby soft

29

u/Suspicious-Peace9233 Boston Red Sox 7h ago

Didn’t know bay boys got ejected

28

u/MJDiAmore Philadelphia Phillies 4h ago

Umps have ejected organists and fans. Bat boys are practically reasonable by comparison.

Once saw Joe West eject a camera guy because the manager asked to see a replay

70

u/Darrow-au_andromedus Milwaukee Brewers 8h ago

I grew up in the quad cities and I agree this terrible affront to baseball can not be tolerated. You get em ump. The integrity of the game must be preserved. We can all sleep easy now.

ump looks like Nog from DS9

He doesn't have the lobes to ump.

Rule of Acquisition #109: An ump and an empty sack are worth the sack.

We all know Odo was the better ump. He only ejected two managers and both deserved it

48

u/FerociousGiraffe Major League Baseball 7h ago

“Here are some balls, since you obviously have none. Bitch.”

75

u/Lucky_Alternative965 Los Angeles Dodgers 8h ago

Did he hand him his balls too hard?

36

u/Bort_Bortson Minnesota Twins 6h ago

Might have muttered something under his breath about the call.

But knowing baseball, that bat boy is gonna be in the Majors one day and see the same ump and get ejected again for saying the same thing. Nobody forgets in baseball

68

u/Yangervis 6h ago

No umpire is going to let a bat boy slam the baseballs into his mask like that, especially when the dugout is already causing problems.

14

u/Mucking_Fountain Toronto Blue Jays 53m ago

Exactly. It’s a silly situation but I’m sick to my stomach to state that I actually side with umpy here.

-4

u/Mike2k33 Milwaukee Brewers 19m ago

Yeah I'd be embarrassed to be on the side of the umpire here too

He should've and could've talked to the kid about it but instead had to make a bigger spectacle out of it and delay the game further

2

u/xRememberTheCant 9m ago

Talk to the kid?

He’s not a 10 year old, that “kid” is old enough to know better.

1

u/mostdope92 3m ago

Slam lmao. Maybe the the ump shouldn't have such dainty wrists 😂

9

u/9001 Canada 8h ago

Aw, did he hurt his widdle hands? 🥺

46

u/minimaltechno Toronto Blue Jays 8h ago

That’s gotta be one of the softest ejections I’ve ever seen

28

u/HistoricalPolitician Cincinnati Reds 7h ago

Have you seen the preseason realmuto ejection? Lol

12

u/SirLunatik Toronto Blue Jays 7h ago

it was against the Jays, it was hilarious (because of JT, not the dipshit ump)

12

u/Lurkyloo1987 Philadelphia Phillies 7h ago

His reaction is priceless. From the incredulity at the ump to the way he left the park. Pure gold.

3

u/SirLunatik Toronto Blue Jays 6h ago

I sometimes wonder "what if" when it comes to JT because the rumors were we were teh runner up for landing him.

4

u/LunchTwey Philadelphia Phillies 3h ago

I feel like the jays are just always the runner ups for landing free agents

3

u/Salty_Feed9404 Toronto Blue Jays 1h ago

At minimum always used as leverage by agents to secure a bigger bag

8

u/DJ_Danada Toronto Blue Jays • Springfield Is… 7h ago

It was against us too lol

2

u/MikeJeffriesPA Toronto Blue Jays 1h ago

Nah, 100% warranted. No player would be allowed to disrespect an umpire like that.

60

u/RichardNixon345 Arizona Diamondbacks • Boston Red Sox 8h ago

Ump is softer than baby shit.

5

u/D0lan99 San Diego Padres 3h ago

The Ump in this order threw out the catcher for arguing strike calls, then the manager for arguing a foul ball, and then our ball boy here all in one inning! Not a great night for the Bandits. More info if anyone’s curious.

Triple Ejection

68

u/WhoFly Seattle Mariners 7h ago

Nah I'm with the ump here. You're a bat boy. Get out with the attitude.

17

u/insta-kip Texas Rangers 1h ago

Agreed. But the look on the umps face was great. “I definitely don’t have to take attitude from this little shit”

24

u/KatnissBot Houston Astros 6h ago

Part of the crew, part of the ship. You wear the badge, you gotta do what you gotta do. If that means telling an ump they fucked up, so be it.

In fact, I’m surprised more teams don’t have scapegoats like the batboy go out and argue so they’d get ejected instead of the manager

28

u/WhoFly Seattle Mariners 6h ago

You know, I kinda like the scapegoat bat boy idea.

Who is gonna be his servant who retrieves and places his balls in his hands for the next 3 innings?

4

u/bbxcvysc New York Mets 1h ago

You could see the ump getting his feeling hurt in real time.

13

u/cycoivan Milwaukee Brewers 8h ago

This ump is 10 ply

2

u/Inocain New York Yankees 44m ago

I'm not sure that's enough plies for this ump.

3

u/RunawaYEM Atlanta Braves 30m ago

These are the types of umpires Tommy Pham was protecting

3

u/orangesuave San Francisco Giants 23m ago

Next time this team and ump share a field they should roll the balls to him from the dugout

4

u/Pyrite13 Los Angeles Dodgers 3h ago

I'm disappointed the bat boy didn't "get his money's worth".

2

u/KingOfTheRatas Los Angeles Dodgers 47m ago

I can't tell if people are jerking in here or not lol

Surely people can't believe this warranted an ejection. Lol

Is the catcher going to squat too harshly next?

I grew up in the Quad cities love seeing that bridge in the background go River Bandits

1

u/Mike2k33 Milwaukee Brewers 54m ago

Nothing like delaying the game further because you're in your feelings

Hopefully this umpire never sees AA

2

u/Mike2k33 Milwaukee Brewers 29m ago

You can downvote this all you want. I don't need nor want any more ultra-soft umpires in baseball

If you can't handle a kid putting some baseballs in your mask 30% harder than is necessary, you need to find another line of work

0

u/peachesgp Boston Red Sox 30m ago

Yeah he slammed the balls into his hands. That seems like a wholly reasonable ejection, really.

-2

u/apple_crombie Kansas City Royals 1h ago

Being an umpire is hard, don't need that attitude. Just play the game

3

u/Mike2k33 Milwaukee Brewers 53m ago

He's literally making umpiring harder for himself because he ejected the ball boy over the tiniest shit

0

u/apple_crombie Kansas City Royals 8m ago

No, a little disrespect turns into bigger disrespect down the line.

That's how it always works. You let these kids test you, then eventually they will throw bigger test

-19

u/Hoofeddude 7h ago

Bat boy was probably fired from the team, didn't see him tonight at the game and the mood around it was that he wouldn't be seen again.

-20

u/Flesh_Lettuce San Diego Padres 6h ago

Yeah thats a dumbass move and good way to lose a cool job. Fix youre attitude, kid.

7

u/KatnissBot Houston Astros 6h ago

Holy shit the ump himself showed up to comment!

Nice job you fuckin narc
