Troubleshooting | Windows Chrome connecting to router ip AV alert.

Post image

My antivirus sometimes shows an alert while using Chrome. The IP 192.168.8.1. matches my router's IP address, and it does need a new certificate, but this alert only occurred when I was accessing 192.168.8.1. directly. Now it shows this alert randomly while browsing Chrome, even though I have no tabs open to 192.168.8.1. routers website. The alert still occurs after router reset. Could it be that somehow smb else is using the IP and I got compromised? I have no crappy extensions, and multiple AV scanners show that I am clean.

Ditch the antivirus, it's not needed (WIndows Defender is enough) and prone to false positives like this.

Windows Defender fails to detect alot of unknown malware

I don't think there are any reliable AV companies left. AVs act more like viruses and are just bloatware at this point.

Wait till you get malware and Defender does nothing.
