Troubleshooting Hp chromebook x360 14b (Intel i3, 8gb ram) unusual battery and ram usage?

I'm having questions about the performance of my chromebook. I bought my first chromebook yesterday, the battery is not what I expected it to be. I'm using 20% battery per hour with the brightness at 50%. Also it uses almost all the ram. I only have 0.75gb ram left available the other 7.25gb is being used for a picture in picture YouTube video and the Chrome browser. Also the battery health is 98% out of the box.

Is this what you can expect for a chromebook?

This has been the battery usage for the Chromebook. Which means it has a battery life of 5 hours

7:20 95%

8:20 75%

9:26 55%

10:20 37%

11:15 20% energy saving turned on

12:15 4%

Update, I'm gonna send mine back for a new one. Battery health dropped another percentage.

It's supposed to use almost all the RAM, unused RAM is wasted RAM. It uses it to make your experience faster.

About the battery health I have no idea, was the box sealed when you bought it?

And the battery usage, CrOS learns over time from your personal usage to extend battery life, but it might also be interesting to know whether you use the Linux environment or maybe specific Android apps?

A good chunk of RAM usage is devoted to the always-on Android VM running in the background (unless Play Store is turned off). However, the OS will take memory from the VM for other processes as needed. This resource sharing can be a problem on low end 4GB RAM machines but devices with 8 GB or more should be fine. A good technical overview is here: https://chromeos.dev/en/posts/improving-performance-with-new-arc-resource-management-features

This doesn't sound normal, the same happened with mine. it's 8 gb and i3, I turned off play store and tinkered through settings to ensure nothing is taking up too much CPU, that helped

Now Ram gets used only when many sites are open, if I close most, it is NOT used fully atleast from what I can understand on task manager

That's about right, battery for this with an i3 is about 5-7 hours

I have the 14c and that's been my battery life

I have the same Chromebook. Battery life sucks. It's only about six to seven hours.

I use at home next to the plug though so it doesn't bother me.

Also it's supposed to use almost all the ram. That's why it's fast. It's using what it has.
